《Of Life and Light》Chapter 23 [Ageless]

"You wanted to leave again?" Anasi's eyes widened upon hearing such a revelation from the God King before him. To which the other nodded once as his son nibbled upon his clawed fingers, "But why?"

"Sia inquired as to why I desired so as well, as did the others," commented the Ageless whilst smiling down upon Nox, "So I shall speak of what I told her to you as well. 'The cavern that now houses others will only last as long as I am not present.'

"Which means I had a feeling that the Humans would continue to come before their persons repeatedly if I was present. Therefore, I desired to venture forth upon other worlds in order to draw their attention."

"You just wanted a vacation, Papa," giggled the hybrid as he gazed upon his father with enlarged pupils. To which the other sighed and pat the child's head several times.

*****

Yes, that was what I desired, but at the same time it was not. For although I had wished for a break from my duties as their God, I could not escape. Therefore, Brutus, Amira, and Sisstra accompanied my person as we returned to the Hub World of Azzarath. They, themselves, were given illusions of flesh which matched their bodies whilst they were still living.

Amira became a three-tailed, red furred Fox-woman with a small chest and frame. Her own stature was that of one hundred and sixty centimetres in height, whilst the fur about her body caused her to appear a little more plump than one would normally. This was due to her desire for more fur, and she even made a point of stroking her three fluffy tails because of it.

Her own garb, however, was of dark coloured leathers all about her body, but were not tight fitting as one might surmise. Instead, they gave off the illusion that she was much bigger in many proportions than she actually was. Of which confused my self greatly, but was waved away due to this being what she wanted. This, coupled with a scythe twice in her own height being wielded by her small clawed hands, would confuse even the most aroused individual.

Now, the difference between a Fox-woman and a Kitsune is of one simple fact. A Kitsune is half demon, half fox, whereas a Fox-woman, or man, is a fox with an intelligent being's form. Such as a Human, Elf, Dwarf, Orc, and so on. As for Fox Beastfolk? They are an intelligent being with features of a fox.

As for Sisstra? She chose to have her own scales back. Of which were of a dark green that, when the day star above cast its gaze upon her body, they shone with a radiance of blues, pinks, and reds. Each of these colours, by the by, were able to come forth with a simple thought, as she put it, and were more prominent around the neck and muzzle. "It's for attracting a mate," she mumbled as a mirror was held up to her eyes so that she may glance upon her body.

Yes. She was allowed to have a mate, but would not be able to birth eggs due to her transformation into an Undead creature.

The garb she chose for herself was actually armour. Sisstra desired to be a knight, and was given full plate armour which was molded in such a way that she appeared to be much like her metallic self, but a little more bulky. Of which was couple with a large tower shield and a halberd, which caused her to appear more menacing to those who have yet to meet her.

Brutus, on the other hand, chose to be given another Elven form with the same blue faded robe that I wore, as I took on my Human guise once more. To those who were not a part of our group, it would appear as though the Knight was our escort, my Lich was my apprentice, and Amira was just there for some odd reason. Yes. She was a tad miffed about such a thing, but shrugged it off as we traversed the Hub towards an empty podium like structure with the same window as before.

It was here that every clustered around my person, voicing their own opinion as to what world we should explore, when Brutus and I heard a familiar voice speak aloud next to our right, "First of all, that rude of your Skeleton to kill me like that. Second, Aclara and Dashall had to reroll their characters because their characters' souls were destroyed. So how are you going to repay them and me for killing us?"

We turned to our right as though encased in tar, and spied the Mage, Melephas. Of whom was glaring at our person's with some mischief sparkling in his eyes, as though we weren't supposed to take his anger as seriously as he desired. For which we did not, and turned back towards that which was before us.

I believe the expression was, "Giving one the cold shoulder." Unfortunately, I doubt this entered his mind.

For just as we returned to the task at hand, did I feel the Human's hand upon my shoulder. Of which was immediately removed by way of Amira's scythe. "Eh?" The Mage's eyes blinked several times as his hand fell to the silvered floor with a soft splat whilst coating the ground crimson. After peering down to the ground, fish eyed, he turned towards the stump of where his hand used to be, and screamed, "Gah! My Hand!"

During this course, I had selected a world for us to escape to whilst blood spurted from the wound of he who was an annoyance to my person, and left the scene behind. Or, at least we tried to. For just as he moved away, were we surrounded by unknown knights in red coloured armours. Each of these appeared to contain a Human-like entity within, whilst the structure of the coloured armours were of the plain designs created by expert craftsmen using a single blueprint.

"You will come with us," growled one of their number, as they each took out a red-iron longsword and pointed the tips towards our bodies, "You are all under arrest for assault, battery, and disturbing the peace within the Hub of Azzarath."

"No, I think not," my voice rumbled as anger stirred in my tone. For I had become annoyed with the appearance of the one who claimed to be kin to my person, and was now seething due to the interruptions given by this unknown faction of guards. Of which led to my right hand pointing its forefinger at the nearest individual, who laughed just as he was vapourised after I barked, ">."

This startled the group, of whom were the ones in charge of keeping the peace within the Hub world, as I found out at a later date. Along with the fact that they were given special armours, weapons, and items which protected them from being slain by magicks and physical damage. Of which was negated by my person, due to my own brand of Divinity. Therefore, I need not fear them.

In any case, after the one had been reduced to ash and dust, did the rest, which numbered as twenty and three, begin their short lived assault against I and mine. For Sisstra had leapt in front of my person with her tower shield at the ready to block all harm which came my way. Whereas Amira to the chance to use the Draconian's stature as a stepping stone for her to climb and leap from. Of which startled a few of such guards, for just as she leapt into the air, did she grin whilst spinning horizontally with the scythe extended fully.

Yes. She did misjudge the angle, as her blade scraped across the surface of the shield. Thus, leaving several light and bloodied scratches as the other side had two disemboweled red-iron guards. Of whom flopped to the ground whilst their legs went the opposite direction.

No. They did not die outright, but did scream as their insides spilt outwards. Though, it did not last as long as Brutus and I would have desired, it was still a wonder to behold.

Speaking of which, my Lich had taken this opportunity to unleash a torrent of spectral energies upon a group of five guards. Each of which dropped to the ground without a sound, their eyes widened and their mouths agape in horror by something unseen. Of course, their eyes also leaked long trails of fluids, and their mouths contained frothed saliva which continued to spill out even after their hearts had ceased to function.

As to the rest of the guards? Well, they fled towards the other side of the Hub, screaming about desiring to quit their jobs, not being paid enough, or some such thing as this. Whereas I was allowed to leave the protections of Sisstra's shield, and what greeted me was a scene of carnage that caused my person to roll my eyes at.

"Come along, everyone," my voice was light, but still rumbled as I conjured up a walking staff. Upon griping it, I intoned a spell which would allow us to step over the mess my servants had created. ">," of which caused us all to float half a metre off the blood soaked ground, as we continued forward towards the next most promising world.

One that was called Second Earth.
