《Of Life and Light》Chapter 11

"Brutus," sighed the Ageless as he sat up from a desk in order to look in the direction of a oval shaped mirror that was the size of a normal being's head. That is, if normal meant the size of a young dragon's skull, but not in shape. For such a thing was to be used only by those given permission to do so. As such, Brutus was allotted such a privilege, so long as it was of importance.
The area in which he was currently within, however, was of a cavernous great hall which seemed to fit Giants of an ancient past. Unfortunately, such beings did not exist at that time, and it was instead being used for passing judgment upon various beings of notoriety, or applicants who wish to join the rapidly growing Pantheon. Of which the latter was in the process with his person, as a lowly God and Goddess of Earth and Fire wish to have their world entered under his protections, when he was bother by Brutus's image.
"I am in the middle of another application, Brutus. Why is it that you have called my person?"
"Forgive me, My Lord High God," bowed the image of the Lich King, who was in his robes of white at the time, "but it concerns your wife and son."
To which the God King's eyes flared once, as walls of stone and earth erupted around himself and the mirror. This was to allow him some privacy so that others may not listen in on more personal matters. For there were many in this ever growing Pantheon of Gods and Goddesses, and nearly half desired to rest the symbolic crown from his brow. Which also meant that they would try to find some sort of leverage against his person, no matter how small.
"Speak," came his command, as a simple stone chair flowed up in order to allow himself to sit comfortably. However, as he was an Undead creature, he would not feel such a thing.
"Yes, my Lord High God," once more, the Skeleton bowed, and once he stood tall, did he repeat what had transpired after putting the children to bed.
Outside of the space where the Ageless had erected something similar to a dome, was the milling bodies of hundreds of celestial beings. Many of whom were applicants, and chatted amongst themselves about various ideologies, creeds, and their own people. However, this all stopped once they each became aware of a building pressure surrounding such a structure.
Each and every one of them felt the anger of the God King, as a single glowing, white feathered wing erupted from the top. As well as heard his voice boom throughout the entirety of the Universe itself, "SHE SAID WHAT?!"

Afterwards came a torrent of energy, as a great something flew straight up into the air, and through the ceiling. Of which such beings caught sight of a horrific creature that was nearly twenty metres in height, and had one half appear as though it were of an Elf with platinum blonde hair, whilst the other half was purely skeletal. Upon the Elven side of the giant's face was an eye of silver, with a slit of crimson in the middle. Whereas the other half contained a solid orb of crimson within.
This was all anyone was able to view, as it skyrocketed away. Thus leaving them to wonder what such a creature was, whilst those of whom knew that that was the Ageless, wished whomever had incurred his wrath would be given a merciful and quick end.
*****
Within the Castle of Perpetual Midnight, however, many of its residents were still asleep. Though, not Sarah. For she had finally dug herself out of the earth, and was now being bathed by a pair of tired, and wholly nude, Elven females. These had, at the beginning, desired to know why she was covered in dirt and grass, but were met with silence. Instead, they simply performed their duty in cleaning her body.
It was here, as she was soaking within the pool of warm water after being scrubbed, that her ears twitched as someone was making their way towards the bathhouse, and the being was quite angry. "Where is she?" boomed the familiar voice, "Where is my wife, Sarah?" The Goddess felt a mixture of emotions from such a voice, but one was prominent above all else. Disappointment.
She felt it, those awake felt it, but were helpless to stop his advance.
"Sir," came another's, but muffled as several footsteps approached the door, "You cannot go in there. She is-" What came afterwards was not another word, but a loud splat, as something struck the door to the bathhouse. Of which shuddered greatly, and from underneath the door, slowly making its way inwards, was a quickly spreading pool of crimson.
This led to the gilded doors to open, and there in the doorway was an endarkened furred, nine-tailed Kitsune with eyes full of shadowed darkness which appeared as though they absorbed all light before them. "Get out," he commanded the nude Elves, who stared up in horror at the God King. To which he turned to them slowly, his entire form stretching into a monstrous visage from their deepest nightmares. "GET. OUT," a spectral voice howled at their persons, causing them to flee like the wind.

Afterwards, did his body revert back into its nine-tailed fox form, and slowly advanced upon Sarah's position, of whom was terrified to the point of being frozen where she sat within the pool.
"I am... disappointed in you, Sarah," his voice, though calm and collective, was seeping with a rage that simmered within his cold. unbeating heart.
"Hus-band?" she squeaked, entirely frozen, as his body flowed past the barrier which kept the waters from spilling out upon the marble flooring. Once it was touched by he who was King, did they freeze in their entirety. Thus trapping her body, leaving her to the mercy of the other.
"Brutus told me quite the tale," his voice was soothing, calm, but held the hidden venom of one who was ready to strike, "of how he caught you whispering of wanting to... change his Story." His right hand caressed the left side of her muzzle and head as this was spoken, but there was no warmth within such calmness. Of which caused her to shiver and desire to run, but she could not.
"N-no," the Goddess gasped out, but could utter no more beyond frightened gasps.
"No?" he reared back with mock surprise, "Do you think he would lie to me?" a paw was placed, dramatically, upon his chest as he leaned forward to stare in her eyes, "Me? His God? No one would dare perform such an action," his eyes narrowed whilst his paw was dropped to his side, "At least, not a second time.
"And to you, my dear. I unfortunately must perform the same action I do to those who do not remember their place. Especially when it comes to my stories," the God King cupped her head in his paws, which caused several tears to fall from her eyes as he kisses her head.
"Now, now my dear," two of his digits expertly wiped the liquid away, "no crying. For although this is a must, I do so for our child."
"No-ox?" her eyes widened greatly as she tried to move whilst still encased.
"Yes," mused the Ageless with a smile, "but he won't know what has occurred, and you won't remember anything." His smile became that of a Cheshire grin, as the other whined and fought against the cage of magickally charged ice, but to no avail. For the God King had already began in his intonement of a spell, ">."
She watched with great horror, as spell circles of gold and silver slowly carved themselves into the air around them, casting their threads upon her frozen body as though there was not any ice keeping her still. Each of which entered her being with ease, causing her body to spasm from each and every one of them. To which she whined and yelped for help, but none would come to aid her.
Not the Chosen, the Living Armour which stood at attention throughout the halls, nor anyone else. Which meant she was at the mercy of her husband, the Ageless, and upon peering up into his features, she was met with an apologetic smile. However, just as the last thread entered her body, she felt her head being kissed by the other.
"I love you," he whispered, as the world around her faded into nothing.
*
"My Lord High God?" called out Brutus as he watched his God King shut the door to his wife's bedroom after tucking her in, "You called for me?"
"Yes I did," rumbled the Ageless as he shut the door behind his person with a sigh, "I shall be needing a few Watchers placed within the castle."
"The Watchers, my Lord?" the Skeleton's skull tilted towards his right shoulder with some concern in the pinpricks of light he called eyes, "Whatever for?" For such a group were nothing more than immortal spies that were created and deployed by the Kitsune, and held the ability to hide from those with Celestial or Infernal magicks and abilities. Of which led to many a purge that was kept secret from all others, so that they may continue to live and thrive in relative ignorance.
"They are to keep an eye on Sarah, as I have found some fostering schemes within her mind," his right paw came up to forestall the other's outburst, "She is to be watched, understand?"
"And the time limit?"
"Indefinite."
"Yes, my Lord High God. Your will be done," bowed the Lich King who would follow his God even if it led to their downfall. For this was how much he loved the other, and would even slay his own family just to please him.
"Once this has been taken care of," the Ageless spoke after he bade his right hand in all things to follow his person, "I desire to know if we have made any head way on finding the location of the world called Earth."

The Fall of The Gods
Synopsis: In the year 1966, an army of Orishas led by Sango stormed Amadioha’s palace and razed it the ground, starting a decades-long war between two of Nigeria’s most powerful divine orders. Blinded by the rage of battle, the gods did not detect the rise of a third power, far greater and deadlier than anything they could have imagined. When gods, on both the Yoruba and Igbo sides, begin falling mysteriously to their death, Sango seeks the help of Odion, a Lagos teenager destined to rise from his dark past to become a hero. But can a human hero save the gods from a doomed fate? The Fall of the Gods is an action-packed YA fantasy based on the mythical bond that ties human life with the realm of the divine. It demonstrates the power of stories to change our lives. It also reminds us that Sango and Amadioha are not relics of the past and that, sometimes, what it means to be a hero in today’s world is knowing how to find inspiration in the stories of the gods. PLEASE NOTE: Weekly chapters will be released every friday along with interludes once in a while about Nigerian mythology. I'm a young 17 year old writer and I am new to the site so I will appreciate your comments and reviews. Thank you very much.
