《Luna》Midnight Watcher, case 3

That gesture! They're gonna silence her!
"Igor?" the girl cries out, "A Russian?"
Before she figures it out, a powerful straight punch hits her at her temple, almost knocks her unconscious. She can feel pain comes from her head while Igor is tearing her hair, drags her into the room. The world is like a endless spinning top lost its weight, rises waves of disgust in her stomach.
"You are gonna kill me......right?" the girl continues to beg him, "Please, I'm just a by–stander, you don't have to......" she adds in Russian.
Igor responses no word, pushes her on the floor even harder. Then he enters inside and kicks the door off.
Only two of them now. Nobody will check, nobody will call the police. Murder is just so common here. Someone already died here, and she will be the next victim, with her blood infuse the carpet, day and night, getting darker, starts to stink the neighbor. Should they finally find her body, what would she looks like then?
She raises her body, tries to takes a glance at Igor. He walks to her, with a thin metal wire in hand. Within a blink, she feels her throat is choked, like a burning snake winds around her neck.
"Make it easier, or it'll be much painful." Igor whispers, holds the wire tighter.
But she keeps wriggling her body under the surviving instinct. The wire pierces into her skin, the blood reds her shirt, the extreme pain suffocates her. She drags the wire, tries her every strength to keep it back. But Igor is much stronger than her. He fast knots the wire, and every attempt to loose the garrotte will in turn enhance the force. She feels her senses are being ripped off from her: eye-blur comes first, the the tinnitus, like sinking her into the water, soft and cold, and boundless darkness is heaving her down, down to the eternal rest......

But the pain! She can still sense it, her nociceptive fibers are echoing around her brain. There's no eternal rest, she is under attack right now!
Her teeth clenches, as she firmly keeps herself awake. Her eyes begin to scan her surroundings: the dagger? the stick? A chair? Anything with sharp edge?
She must make it one shot, cuz he still has a carbine.
Think of it, think......
Her eyes is wide open. The pepper-spray! Under the corner of the bed, probably left there when Weiss was knocked down.
She hands to the pepper-spray, inch by inch, she can touch it by her forefinger. But damn! A little bit closer, please! She tries one more time, but her finger pushes it even little farther.
Dead or alive, all on her hand now!
She releases her hand, letting Igor tightens the garrotte. Less than 10 seconds, she knows, there'll be no surviving chance left whatever, if she fails to let that thing free. With all her will and strength, she leaps to the pepper-spray, makes the wire almost incises her trachea.
But she gets the spray.
Spare Igor no chance to react, she turns around, hold the spray at his face.
AHHH!
Igor let go of her, covers his eyes and screams in pain. The girl elbows at his chest, be thrown down forwardly by the counterforce. She rushes to her bag, and cut the wire immediatly. Fresh air pours into her lung again, she coughs, with tiny blood spitting out.
But it's not over yet! As she brings the dagger out and looks back, Igor raises the carbine with one hand.
No use of running away. The room is too small to hide, and she can't run faster than bullet. No other options!
Before he sets the fire, the girl throws the dagger, hit him right on his arm, makes him drop the carbine. She totters, but still sprints to Igor, pushes him against the door. Regardless of his struggling, she chokes his throat and press all her weight on the breastbone.

Mumbles with blur liquidus sound, blood pours out of Igor's mouth, like a plug put in his trachea. He constantly punches the girl's body, but his consciousness is fading out.
The girl moves even closer, rises herself up a little bit, and concentrates all her strength on her hand.
Crack--
Igor's breast chest is broken. Bones stabs in his lung and liver. His head tilts aside, and his pupils dilate by degrees.
Igor is dead.
The girl's heart fiercely beats. She still presses on him, until she touches his nose, makes sure his life has totally gone. Then she let go a deep breathe, sits on the floor as if she lost the support.
One down, two or more left.
The girl catches the door handle, drags herself up. She slices several pieces of bed sheet, covers her wound on shoulder and neck as bondage, and hauls the body into the washroom.
She should run away. The logic tells her. They have guns, they're profession, stronger in physical and much more in numeric. She's putting herself at risk.
But the instinct eagers to know more. They're coming for her. That pendant sales out their motive. But why is her? They should've feared about this tottem. This thing should've protected her. Why is her?
For seven years, those memories have been invading her sub-consciousness, consisted the most elements of her nightmares: that flame, that explosion......that man in shadow.
The truth is staring at her eyes.
The girl takes the radio from the body, tramples it to shatters.
No matter who they are, where they come from, what they want.
I'm gonna take them down.
ALL.

Apex Predator
Earth is a fairly small place, but it's all Bath has. It's the only home he's ever known for all of his 500-or-so-million years of life. One day, Bath realized his treasured Earth was being drawn into the next mass extinction ahead of schedule. So, fascinated by the humans and their quick rise to power (after all, setting off a mass extinction is a pretty sizable achievement), what's a nearly all-powerful, somewhat bored, morally ambiguous, savagely violent, shapeshifting alien entity to do other than assume the form of a human and do some front-line investigating? Little did Bath know he would soon stumble upon a mysterious human organization with a gate leading to planets eons away. And that's just the beginning... A story with aliens, intergalactic space travel, mind powers, and an abundance of adventure! Author's note: ON HIATUS! Hello and thank you for reading! Constructive criticism and grammar-policing are both appreciated. Parts 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 are complete at 1271 pages! Part 7 is in progress! If you've ever read any other web serials, you might've noticed that authors get better with time (that is, their art or writing improves). Wutosama of Metaworld Chronicles noted that the first 20 chaps are always a mess. This is also the case with Apex Predator. The first two parts (ranging just under 30 chapters, or 161 pages) are absolutely subpar. While I have edited them as of 7-10-18, they require a rewrite, which is currently in the works but not complete. For a sample that gives insight into what the latter ~80% of the story's writing style is like, check out chapter 56. Vote for Apex Predator on Top Web Fiction! The Apex Predator Discord is here. Cover: original work done by me, the author, caerulex.

Steven the Understanding
This is a quick and dirty fiction. Editing is a crutch. Steven woke up naked under a bush and things just get worse from there. Updates 5 days a week until I can't anymore.

Because to hear their story is to hear their names; the names of Legends. ---------------------------------- Based on the Monster Hunter series by Capcom.
