"Is it....watching me?"
The cheetah's glare is sending shivers down his spine. The growling sound that it makes is indicating that it already found it's prey.
"Crap... Well at least I can see it now, unlike earlier"
The cheetah slowly started circling around him. It never takes off it's eye from Shun.
"What the... is it going to attack?" Shun thought.
"It's so dark I can't even see it's size, I doubt that I can dodge"
Shun can hear the footsteps it makes. Shun's eyes followed the burning eyes circling around him in the dark.
Suddenly, the monster went rushing towards him, it's eyes slightly elevated indicating that it jumped towards him.
Shun quickly takes a sidestep and leaned his shoulder backwards. Luckily, Shun managed to avoid the attack but Shun didn't manage to follow it's eyes as it's facing away from him.
It didn't take so long as the monster faced towards him, ready to attack again. Once again, the cheetah rushed towards him. But this time ,it fearlessly and violently rushed towards him.
"Are you pissed off!" Shun mockingly mumbled.
But instead of dodging, Shun went offensive and attempted to counterattack.
[NOTICE]
SKILL [DARK CLOAK] ACTIVATED
Shun quickly timed the attack and swiftly swinged his dagger towards the monster. For a second he thought that his attack pierced the monster's mouth.
"What the hell happened? Just now... he's speed just... changed." Shun eyes widened when he took a glance at his weapon. The black blade was snapped into pieces with only the handle left in his hands.
[WARNING]
YOUR CREATION HAS BEEN DESTROYED!
"Impossible! My weapon... is this beast really that strong." Shun turned his head to face the beast who went behind him, but the beast who's was supposed to be looking up at him from the ground was now looking down at him. It's eyes was at least 2 ft. elevated from his head and looking at him fixedly as if telling him to not move.
"It gotten taller?!" His question was later answered when the clouds in the sky was cleared and the moonlight starts to light up the surroundings.
The figure in front of him slowly becomes visible, a beast of atleast seven feet tall and standing in his two feet is in front of him with a mascular body.
"F*ck, this is not a C-rank monster" Shun's body was glued in that position, he can't move an inch. He felt like the monster will devour him if he tries to move. The icon in the monsters head was slowly revealed by the moonlight, the 3 yellow stars above it's head that represents it's rank.
[REIZGAL]
C- RANK
HP: 4363/5000
"Now I know why this thing is called a raging cheetah, it's because it can change forms that makes it faster... no wonder it managed to wound me using it's claw earlier. Even though a cheetah normally attack using their mouth since it uses 4 of it's limbs to run. But now I get it, it's because this thing can stand using 2 feets that means it uses the other two for attacking..."

"Grrr" The beast growled and showed a grin.
"What an annoying animal." Shun slowly gulped downs the cold air as he sensed the intense bloodlust coming from the beast.
"Damn that bastard! He sure is taking long. What kind of preparation is he doing" Shun angrily whimpered in his head, remembering Rai was still preparing his spell.
"This bastard is not the type who will wait just to get killed, I need to hold it right here until he finished... Should I try exchanging blows?" Shun pondered, taking a one last glance at the beast.
"No, that's a bad idea...huh?"
Shun noticed something when he takes another glance closer to the monster. The monster started emitting black smoke through It's skin.
"What the..."
Shun looked above him, the moonlight is shining from above. Shun showed a grin of victory in his face. "I see...so you're a creature of darkness as well" Shun started provoking the beast. The monster quickly moved back in the darkness as if it was scared of something.
"You don't like light..huh?" Shun continues to provoke the monster. "Scardy cat,"
"So that's why he targeted the walking flashlight earlier (Rai), because it was afraid of light." Shun whispered. "If that's the case, with this moonlight alone...I can definitely beat you without the walking flashlight's help!" Shun spoked arrogantly, lifting his chin.
He raise his hand to create another weapon using Alchemy. "For my sake, please work!"

SKILL HAS BEEN CANCELLED

"Huah? What the hell!" Shun grumbled in surprise. "So I can't use a weapon. If I can't use a weapon that also means that I can't use my other skills...what should I do?" he looked around him. "Should I stay in the moonlight until that bastard arrived?"
"Nah, that won't work." Shun nervously approached the beast with his fist clenched. He was now standing on the moonlight side and the cheetah is standing on the dark side.
Shun was the first one to throw a blow at the monster. "Swoop!" The monster then dondge the attack and throw a counter punch. The moon continues to rais up as the two of them exchange blows.

"Gahhh, haaahh, haaaah," Shun stopped attacking and began panting heavily form exhaustion. "My HP is hanging low, did I even manage to damage him?!" Shun looked up and saw the monster's body is bleeding and broken bones was visible from his sight. Shun grinned as he looked at himself and realized that his body is at the worst condition more than the beast.

"Tsk...I messed up! Its stronger than me" Shun is beginning to regret his sudden decisions. "I should've waited for that guy."
"Sorry for the wait!" A familiar voice from above spoked.
Shun anchored his attention to the person speaking, it was Rai. A large blue magic circle started to form in the sky. "Speaking of the devil." a wide smirk was painted in his face.
"Get out of there!" Rai shouted, but Shun didn't understand what he was saying. Shun's attention was greatly focused into the large magic circle that appeared below him, where he and the beast was standing.
"Wha–" he was confused, Shun doesn't know what was that for. Until he hears the thunder sound coming from above them. "Is this some kind of summoning circle that summon demons."
Not too long before he finally understand what's going on. "Awww crap." He shouted before swiftly dives outside the circle with all his might and covered his ears. Ablinding lights blocked his vision, as the lighting strikes the ground, deafening sound can be heard even when he covered his ears.

Shades of the Moon
I'm rewriting this story! I have taken down Arc 2 and Arc 3 already to avoid spoiling my new novel. The only reason I'm keeping the first 10 chapters is nostalgia; the writing is awkward and the story is not plotted out properly, but it's here if anyone wants to compare it to the new one. If you'd like to read a more professionally written version of this story, I highly suggest checking out my Synergy. Synopsis version too-many-to-count: “I see,” Kiona said. “But . . . you’re changing once again, aren’t you?” The entity considered her question, lifting a clawed hand towards the night sky. They observed the back of their hand idly, watching the glowing orange veins pulse alongside their pitch-black exoskeleton. The wind picked up right then, and Kiona shivered—just as much from the cold as from the savage grin on the creature's face. “That’s right,” the entity said, clenching their hand slowly into a fist. They let out a quiet laugh, staring defiantly at the Moon as it rose from behind the clouds. “We are shades, yet not exactly. Not like the others. Here, in this world, we've become something more. We are the Shades of the Moon.” There was a heartbeat of silence, during which Kiona joined the entity in their skygazing. The light-green Moon loomed over the city, shining like the entity's eyes. It promised otherworldly knowledge and terrible secrets. It promised progress. It promised change. In that moment, Kiona couldn't have imagined anything more beautiful. “Shades of the Moon, huh?” she said, smiling a bit. It had a nice ring to it.

Reborn A Paladin: The Dagger Of Shadows
Mirio awakes in a strange place, surrounded by shadows, and an overwhelming hesitation about opening his eyes. A voice speaks to him in the darkness and it awakens a hidden power within him, launching him onto the path of becoming a Paladin, and towards something more. It is a semi-realistic take on being reborn and how that might feel like. It is meant to be immersive and to help you feel what it really might mean to be reborn with powers you really don't understand. The character is somewhat of a power fantasy but not outrageously so.
