Alderaus von Mysthen, lord of the land, and first of his name. Tonight he sat in his study dreading the consequences of a decision he had made years prior. There was a problem that had been plaguing his kingdom for many years, something that threatened the livelihood of his people for as long as he had ruled, and long before that. The decision that he dreaded was in attempt to fix it.

Magic, nothing more need be said about its importance. The mystical ability to bend reality to your will, and to urge the natural forces to work for you. To say it was an unspeakably important facet of life would understate its importance by several degrees. To say that the world would be unrecognizable without it might still be lacking. It was as integral as water and air they breath.
