Chapter 39 - Scavenging in Snow Crest
Arriving at the restaurant that have terrace, Stian and Cyra then reported the information they gathered towards the gathered mercenaries and decided to convey the storage area they have found.
Stian who was telling the details was also inwardly planning inside as he decided on what do next. Right now among them are desperate mercenaries who have been fighting for ten days straight without any abundant of food.
With the battles that they have been participating since the town was siege and caged. They were fighting endlessly and their only relief during those fighting was to eat food and drink ale that could warm their stomachs. Hence, the reason why these mercenaries were willing to make this restaurant their temporary based was mainly because of the owner was a great cook than can turn anything into fine meals.
That's why the mercenaries right now were on the edge of their seats since today the stockpiled supplies of the restaurant would be gone. Reason is that due to the popularity of this restaurant called Gnashing Oak there were a lot of customers that orders in bulk and because of that the owner was half of his supplies during the start of the siege.
Moving on the plan that the group Stian and Cyra is in was simple. First the mercenaries would guard the entrance of the store as Stian opens the lock of the cellar as Cyra covers him. Then when the cellar is open the rest of the strong armed mercenaries carrying rucksacks would then come in and gather everything they can from the cellar until it's empty.
Following that the mercenaries would then escort the food carriers while the two scouts which is Stian and Cyra would stay in the rooftops to survey the area and alarm the group when a horde of Snow Giants started coming over for them.

Once the plan was detailed, the group then started preparing themselves as they rested their bodies in order to regenerate their depleted mana.
Since Stian is mana less , he didn't rest and gathered some of his rations in his backpack and carefully opening it with his pocket knife while being careful that the others won't see the canned food. Opening the food he then took a chunk of meat inside the can and eat it.
Chewing the food, Stian then look at the town who is now in chaos due to invasion of snow giants and sighed in his heart. After all Stian finally understood how chaotic this world is, that events likes this are common and is not surprising at all.
Stian was after all a man from an heavy regulated world where when things like this happen, personnel of many kinds would swoop in and try to deal with situation. With modern equipment's and long range communication devices , any situation back in his world would usually be solved in a heavy cooperation .
So seeing that it's not even a month since Stian got transported into this world and already have encountered two disasters and due to that Stian just can't help feel skeptic about his future in this world...

After the mercenaries rested, I Stian also headed back to the ground floor after I discarded the food can in secret after eating the food in it. Walking back towards ground floor I saw the group being armed to the teeth as I then also readied my scimitar in hand and started following the group.
As me and Cyra surveyed the area within the roofs, the mercenaries also did their best sneaking from buildings to buildings in order to not be sense by a Snow Giant. Following next, we arrived at the marketplace along with mercenaries.

Soon, I then jump towards the building and saw the lock cellar. Using the scimitar I eventually slash the padlock and slowly open the cellar. Entering inside ,I soon saw supplies of food an even some wine as I surveyed the room. Making sure the cellar is clear, next I signaled Cyra to let the mercenaries know that the coast is clear.
Following the signal the mercenaries quickly guarded the perimeter as I left the cellar in order to join Cyra on her guarding. Since it was not time for idle chat, I didn't speak a word towards her due to having to keep my guard up.
After the mercenaries have hoarder all the food in the cellar. We then quickly took off back to the same route when suddenly all of us were alerted by a loud sounds of footsteps. Seeing that there seems to be a lot of them, I then took the chance too go to a higher position to spot the commotion.
As my eyes glance at the commotion my heart stop for a moment. Snow Giants in the north of our position and a bunch of garrison forces who seems to ransacking the marketplace for supplies. After all, the group of us have now rucksacks of food and wine.
If the people of the garrisons finds the food, hence there is a big chance that they might confiscate the goods due to '' reasons'' . But anyway there is also chance that they won't act like that , but since the situation is dire, we need to be careful..
Thus, I leap back to the mercenaries and the ones carrying the rucksack and told them of the snow giant horde and the garrison coming this way. The mercenaries face turn dark for a moment...but soon went back to their wary attitude and nodded as we then move slowly back to our temporary base hoping to sneak unnoticed.

Mordheim: Servants of The Damned (A Warhammer Fantasy Fiction)
“The Great Library,” Stated the stranger with a pause. “You know of it?”“Of course I do. In the Merchant’s Quarter?”“Yes, in the Merchant’s Quarter. I have gathered that there is an… artefact of importance within its walls.” Slowly, the figure produced a rusted key from the furls of his robes and held it in a black-gloved hand. “This opens the door to its chambers. It is the grimoire of Gunnar von Krugenheim, and I believe that it would serve better in the world than locked away in a dusty room.” Behind the cursed walls of Mordheim, warbands and gangs of all stripes are embattled in constant wars for resources and power. The cursed city attracts throngs in the thousands, searching for treasures, artefacts, power, and sometimes all three. The Cult of the Hidden Brethren is no exception, and when an opportunity to extend their reach is discovered, the cultists are eager to take the opportunity. However, not all is set in stone, and soon the cultists discover that the lure of power alone may not be enough to give them the drive required to see their quest done... --- Mordheim: Servants of the Damned is a fanfiction set in the world of Warhammer Fantasy, which is not owned by me but by the company Games Workshop. I of course, lay claim to nothing in this story but the characters I have created, and the core events of the story itself. This is my first true foray into fantasy writing, let alone Warhammer Fantasy, therefore any feedback is welcome. (It should be noted as well, the cover art is merely an artwork I found online and is not mine, therefore I do not lay claim to that either.)
