Chapter 19 - Cold Heart

As the sound of boots marching together as it headed towards the top of the Wodfel Tree in a hurry. Among the group of guards were Stian. Right now the group that is like a bull horde have come rushing towards the streets of the city as they push along everything that stands their way. Whether stalls or carts were push away without effort.

Seeing that the march of the Wodfel Guards were intimidating. The people did not dare to stand in their way as they step into the sidelines watching the army march towards the Wodfel Tree.

Meanwhile, as I followed behind the commanding officer and arrived at the wodfel tree's base. The Commanding Officer surrounded the exits and line up bowmen and ballistas for any wyvern riders that would come out of they sky. Running towards the top of the tree along with the Captain the of the Guards we have arrive at the top of the tree of Wodfel.

There we saw Captain Gaius who is now currently fighting with the Sinister man named Krauss. At the top of the tree were corpses of both guards and Blood Kin's of Oss. At the platform there bloodies guards encircling a man and a woman. The Woman is Ava and the man on the ground laying weakly is the City Lord of Wodfel.

Though, the guards were bloody, you can see roots behind them that acts like a support and vines that seems to provide them with continuous healing while at bunch of spear like roots keep attacking the airborne creatures. The one who seems to be breathing heavily is Ava.

Standing valiantly like a war goddess unable to back down to any foes. Despite the continuous assault of the wyvern riders, she is still putting all her efforts on maintaining the encircled heavy guards healed while she fends of the enemies with her attacks.

The Captain of Guard that I have come along with didn't falter anymore raised his weapons to launch an attack. The ones original bandits of thirty has no been reduce to 13. With our numbers there would be no problem overpowering them. But no matter how you look at It the remaining thirteen bandits who included the Sinister man named Krauss are a strong bunch.

Having a bad feeling lurking inside me, I decided to run towards Ava and warn her about the gut feeling I am having. Why only her you ask? Because my reason for being here IS because of her!

So i run!

Dodge! as I duck the arrow fired at men and drawn my friend called Uzi. Then I pointed my lovely friend Uzi at the arrow man and the pullet the trigger. The man did not even have the time to react as the bullet coming from my friend name Uzi traveled at the speed of sound as it penetrates his chest area.

The surroundings turn silent from the loud gunshot. They gaze and look at me as I run pass the stunned crown and jump towards the encirclement of heavy guards and then said to Ava:

''I am back Ms Ava, are you okay?'' i said worriedly.

"Yes! I am fine! Thank Gaia your alive!'' Ava said in teary eyes.

Then, as If the stunned guards and bandits woke from their daze. They then continued their fighting while the guards ignored the gunshot and focus towards the enemies since the strange weapon was coming from an ally. While the bandits are now sweating beads as they raise their guards even more and put on a warning look against me.

Fighting side by side, Ava uses hear spear roots to try gouging the enemy while I pointed my friend named Uzi and have him spit leads towards the enemies. Not going full automatic on the flying rider's while keeping my trigger discipline was a must for me.

In the corner Captain Gaius who is now facing off the bandit leader named Krauss shouted:

''Surrender now! Tell me your plans!''

''Who would do that you dumb ass?'' as the Sinister man Krauss mocked the Captain's line.

''Why you!'' as the Captain pulled his arm behind and used the strength and weight of his body to swing his sword towards the bandit.

Calm like water, the bandit leader , then quickly dash to the sides as he uses his weapon to smash against the enemy's sword and redirect it!

The Captain who have his sword directed then lean his back and rolled backwards and dash forward as put his shield into his back and took a two handed stance. Then as if the palm of his left hand glowed and envelop the sword in his hand. The bandit leader then grew quickly alarmed as he said:

"Blessing of the Guardsmen....tch'' as the man named Krauss clicked his tongue.

The Captain who's sword glow like a sword of justice then step forward and pointed his sword forward as he unleash a blast of energy towards his enemy. Then as the smoke fades out from the blast, the man named Krauss then appeared and clench his left hand as purple energy envelops it as the energy forms an illusion and replica of Krauss.

''Blessing of the Mirage Rogue .....how troublesome.''

As the two figures move, the enemy bandit leader and his replica then rushed towards different directions. Krauss then use the Blessing of his to summon chain like energies towards the original bandit and have him focus on him! But despite that he was unable to capture the replica!

Having witness the danger of Blessed given people, I then took the front to shield Ava as the one of the guards in the circle collapse due to the arrow that penetrated on his neck. Then using my own blessing, I then started furiously at the wyvern riders as I distract them with a hail of bullets as Ava then gouge them with her spear roots. Then I turn around towards the back as I saw Ava rush towards the City lord to stop an arrow.

Thinking fast in my feet, I then use the shield in the ground and throw it towards the direction of the arrow. Then sheathing my Uzi ,I then took one of the fallen guard's sword and then throw it towards the bandit approaching Ava! The guard didn't got penetrated by the sword but stumbled enough that Ava can direct her spear roots to stab the enemy .Then seeing the replica of the bandit leader come along, I then started rushing towards him as Ava shouted:

''Watch outtttttt!!

As I saw a familiar Wyvern Rider approached me in the back, I then dodge his thrust, and grabbed his wrist as I slam him down towards the ground, then seeing the bandit leader approached, I then tried taking out my Uzi..but was stop as a sound of flesh being penetrated and intense pain in my body entered in my chest as I struggled and kick heavily towards the replica's throat!

Then, I knelled heavily on the ground as I saw the hole near my heart ooze with blood as the world spin and my mind and body felt heavy as I then laid on the cold ground putting my hands on my wound as I writhe in agony while I feel my heart grew faint and cold!...........
