《HATEFUL SIN》Chapter Sixteen*

Sin soon found himself hooked to a man drawn plow as morning turned to afternoon and the sun became hotter, causing two of the slaves to pass out. It would soon be winter but the sun usually became hotter and harder to bare as it came to the end but for Sin he found that he could thrive in such times, it was as if the sun recharged him and the pushed him to work harder and faster.
The person he was working with wasn't too happy but he could say nothing because the owners had been pushing them to work harder and seeing Sin move made them happy, so there was nothing he could do but try to keep up.
Sin held the chain that was around his neck and pulled on it drawing the plow behind him as the other slave kept control of it, soon the found themselves in a good rhythm. They wouldn't finish there assigned section until it was time to go inside because every time they had said that they were finished, their assigned section seemed to grow wider.
Night came and found Sin heading inside along with the other slaves, he sat and eat out the left over buns and broth and drinking the water. By the end of it he sat down at the door to stare out at the night sky, the moon was nowhere to be seen and this was a common thing during the summer for some strange reason, so if it weren't for the lamps that the owners set out the night would be pitch black.
Sin fell asleep right at the door and had a dreamless sleep.

The next several day passed the same as any other except that when they went outside they saw a few carriages that had steel bars on them. Sin could see the owners talking to the people in the carts and soon the door was opened and five men came out of the carriage and stood straight looking ahead.
They were all beast men that were of the bear kind, he could tell by their short round ears that poked out the top of their thick brown hair. Sin looked them over and saw that they were tall and had muscles that bounced, one of them looked at him and his ears twitched. Sin bared his teeth at him because he thought the man wanted to challenge him.
The man looked away and Sin started stepping back until he was up by the door, he kept his eyes on the bear man and watched as they were unchained from each other and placed into similar shackles to his before they were lead into the house. Sin made sure to follow there every move because something about them was off.
They weren't like the other slaves that he was surrounded by, yes some of them carried scars but the scars weren't as bad as his and the way they walked, they didn't walk like slaves. Sin didn't know what it was but something was telling him that they weren't here for the same reason he was and that could mean trouble for him, he wasn't going to get a beating on the count of anyone but him.

When it was time to eat he sat down and scarfed down his food before heading out side where a few carriages were waiting, he was told that they were going to a different part of the farm, that held a different type of crop that needed to be harvested later than some of the others they had already done.
He piled into the back and waited for the carriages to be filled before they started moving. It was some time before they reached the field and instead of large green stalks they were tall brown ones that were finer and reached taller into the sky and carried grains in them.
Sin retrieved his curved cutlass and moved over to his section of the field which he incidentally shared with the beast man that had been staring at him earlier and Sin put it on himself to move as far away as possible from the man.
He began chopping away at the stalks cutting as close to the ground as he could, he could here the bear going to work behind him and felt a little better he would listen and if the blade were to stop then he's be ready to stop whatever the bear was panning to do.
But Sin's years of being abused by those bigger or smarter than him had made him paranoid, everyone was out to get him and he could put his trust in no one but himself. It was possibility that if he had ever ran into the duchess again he wouldn't be able to trust her as far as he could throw her and with his size and strength it would be quite the distance.
They had gone quite the way in their work when the bear cleared his throat and Sin shot up from his position turning to bare his fangs at the older male, and preparing himself for a fight. The bear's eyes widened for just a second before he gave his best smile "sorry if I startled you but I mean you no harm, I just wanted to talk, I can't stand working in silence."
Sin just glared at him as he recognized the tone the older male was using on him, he was trying to coax him into not attacking him and then he spoke long and it only made Sin more irritated. No one spoke too long to him, it's been a long time since someone has in fact if the owners had something to say they usually just used their whips.
Sin huffed and turned back to his work leaving the bear dumbfounded at the younger males reaction to his attempt at being friendly, so with a sigh he returned to his work, maybe it would be better to just leave him be. He nodded deciding that was the best course of action before returning to his work.
It wasn't long before they had worked their way through their section of the filed and made piles of the stalks, they used rope to tie it and stacked the bundles on their should, the bear deciding to carry more because he picked up on the fact that Sin was nothing but a child. It wasn't strange to him that Sin looked older than he actually was because many children had that one trait it was only those that descended from smaller beast would look as a child should.

They were the first to return to where the owner was, the man looked them over and told them to stack the harvest on one of the horse drawn carts, when they were done they were given two forks and told to pull the roots from the ground. It wasn't long before they were making their way through the field and dumping the roots into a large basket.
By the time they were finished many of the other workers were still harvesting the plants and had been called back so they could quickly eat and then return to their work. Sin was surprised that for the first time they had not been given broth instead they were given a strange soup, Sin sniffed it and it smelled good enough to eat so he went ahead and found himself chewing on some of the roots that had been dug up from one of the fields.
When they were finished Sin sighed at the feeling in his tummy, it was packed with root soup that was made with chicken broth. Soon they were sent back out but this time they were given a plow and as Sin moved to be hooked up to it the bear went and hooked himself up instead leaving Sin to control the plow and Sin frowned at that, he was always the one to draw the plow.
With a huff he moved into place behind the plow and stood on the wood and then it was being drawn as Sin found himself staring up at the clear blue sky, the sun was blaring down on them but aside from that it was a beautiful day. They worked through the ground going over it twice before they went back to the owner who clapped his hands twice.
They didn't get the chance to sit around and relax as the owner decided to use them to carry back the harvest while the other slaves were still working on the field. They packed up all the harvest onto the carts and then lead the horses back to the storage barn, they found a closed off section and packed all the harvest in before returning to the owner who allowed them to sit under the tree.

By the end of the week all the fields had been harvested and readied for the new set of crops, it would take some time to attain the seeds to start farming again, but for the time being the slaves had been left to do as they pleased.
Sin had found himself on the roof resting under the sun soaking up all it's rays, he was drifting in and out of sleep and didn't fully wake until he heard one of the owners calling for all the slaves. Sin just pushed and slid starlight off the roof landing on his feet. He quickly rushed over and lined up next to the other slaves.
He was curios as to what was going on but gave up when the people started talking in their strange ways. He soon picked up that whoever was pointed to had to step forward and when the owner pointed at him he followed suit. He kept his eyes forward from there and didn't move until the others did.
A man he had never seen came up to him and switched his shackles out for the ban he had worn some time ago to follow the woman around. That made him realize that they were taking him somewhere, he smiled at the thought of getting to leave the farm again, he knew he would have to come back but just a little time away from the place would be okay.
He followed the line as they were lead to the barn, he was instructed to unpack some of the harvest and load them up on the long line of awaiting carts that all ha the horses hooked to them and ready to go. When they were finished packing they threw these large grey cloths over the harvest and then strapped it down with ropes.
When they were finished they all loaded on to the front of different carts next to an owner and soon the long line of carts was moving away from the barn. They went down the lane and passed the house but went in the opposite direction of where they went the last time, Sin was curious as to where they were taking all of it.
A few hours of traveling later and the docks came into view and by the docks was a long line of people yelling this time they weren't calling for fruit and other food, but they were calling for fish and cooking materials.
Sin looked around and could see a long line of carts just like the one he was riding with but instead of stalks and other plants they were carrying longs and long silver rods that shinned the sun into his eyes making him hiss and look away.
There carts soon came to a stop at the edge of the docks in front of one of the large things that floated on water, a board was connecting it to the docks and Sin would have to use it to carry all the harvest on board.

Hermione Granger and The Boy-Who-Lived (OC!SI)
To Hermione Granger, the boy she met on the Hogwarts Express was Harry Potter, a nice, if odd, boy who's very likely going to get her killed, or worse expelled. To Harry Potter, the girl he met on the Hogwarts Express was Hermione Granger, a nice, overly rule-abiding girl who he'd considered to be one of the few (somewhat) reasonable people in an overrated book series he read.A book series that, against his will, has now become his life. I know right? I mean, who still writes Harry Potter fics, everybody knows the world has moved on to Worm and ASoIaF.But you know what? It's NaNoWriMo, so screw it, I'm gonna do this.Enjoy.Or don't. You know, since I can't exactly make you.Or can't I? After all, if the story turns out to be interesting then isn't that me making you like it?Huh. Food for thought. PS: this is a Harry Potter fanfic.

“Do you know that stars die?” I asked, breaking the silence. I didn't know where the question came from, but that's the only thing that came to mind. “Yeah,” he answered. “And some stars we see in the sky may be already dead.
