《Chosen - A CYOARPG》S1E007 - Bartering

You’re torn.
You want to decline the offer for the dagger, but check his wares. If he has a magical dagger on display, perhaps there’s something else that he has that you can also buy that may be within your budget.
Though this may be the best he has, in which case, you’re not entirely interested in the rest of his wares. They’re probably useless trinkets that you don’t need, things that you can’t use for your tinkering.
Even so. If you could buy a magical dagger, there is some use in it. It can be used, in some sense, as a status symbol, as well being a useful tool if you were to ever find yourself in a sticky situation.
Let us see what fate has in store for you.

Roll: 5 - Persuade
Persuading this merchant is a difficult task, but so is creating something with your tinkering tools. Yet, the excitement you get from pushing through that challenge and creating a final product, even if it’s only slightly useful, has an addictive euphoria to it.
Another few moments of thought pass by as you formulate a decent idea of how to persuade the man to give you a magical item for cheaper.
A magical dagger, one that loses it’s magical properties after using it once or twice, isn’t the same as a health potion. A health potion costs the same price as the dagger, yet you can use it to quite literally save yourself from death, as well as use it on another person to save them. A dagger like this, though useful, is far less useful in everyday life, or even out in the field. The fact that it loses it’s magical property, and becomes useless for it’s biggest draw, makes it more disposable.

Roll: (16+4) 20 - Minor Success
You go back and forth with the merchant for some time. You resort to mentioning your tinkering abilities and the merchant’s eyes light up.
“You are able to tinker? Now that is interesting.” He says, flashing a smile. You watch as his eyes begin to dart around in thought before he meets your gaze once more. “What do you say to this offer? I will trade this magical dagger in exchange for you to tinker with my scimitar. There aren’t many tinkerers in my own land, and I’d like for my scimitar to be able to flash with fire when I need it to. Are you able to do such a task for me?”
You are certain you are able to do so. It may take some time, a few days at least, but you could tinker with his scimitar. It may take a couple of gold to do so, but a magical dagger in exchange for tinkering a scimitar is a fair deal. Though considering that he is supplying the scimitar, you may need to take a little longer than usual so you don’t ruin it.
Do you wish to barter your ability to work on his scimitar in exchange for the magical dagger, or do you wish to counter his offer with something else, or do you wish to decline?
Make your choice.

Z has no intention of returning it, but when Z's past crimes earn her a place in The Letter Trials-a series of dangerous games where winning means moving up and losing means death before a cheering crowd-the necklace becomes her one hope to change things. But right from the start things go wrong. Z saves Dagger, a handsome stranger with a dark past. If she wants to unearth the secrets of the necklace and survive the trials, she'll have to work with Dagger--even if everything she knows has taught her to rely on no one. The further they rise, the darker the secrets of the necklace become, until Z realizes if she wants to change anything, she'll have to become as broken and ugly as the world she's trying to save.
