《The Life of a Goddess and a Fox in the Cultivation World》Chapter 8 - The third prince of the Hoborg Empire

Mortal Realm, Immortal Pillar Zone, in the Decan Kingdom's territory, Planet Capital System, in a Commander's Flagship flying around the Planet Capital. The commander felt angry and frustrated all of a sudden. “Damn it! Why can't those arrogant pricks just do what we tell them to?!!” He yelled in his office. “I can't let them bother the Lady or we risk being obliterated if she gets pissed off.” Following his outburst, he calmed down and contacted the captain. “Warn them that the Lady is not to be disturbed, and if they do not listen, send a message to her to inform her of the situation. After all, our kingdom is too weak to defend against any one of them if they decide to attack us.” She answered. “Right away, sir!” He added. “And keep me informed. I will tighten the security around the Capital Planet in case something goes wrong.” After giving his orders, he went to work on protecting the planet, while hopping that it would be a superfluous action. *************** Back in the Fox family's spaceship. Bai Yue was playing with little Yang with a small smile on her lips. In the midst of his laughter, she could see that he was intrigued by her mask. Although he seemed to be able to guess her emotional state without seeing her face, you could still see curiosity in his clear and pure eyes when he was looking at her face, as if he wished to see what was hidden behind the mask. Signs of his growing intelligence could be observed by how he seemed to understand many things that a child his age shouldn't be able to. Bai Yue knew that children with strong bloodlines grew up quicker than average children, which seemed to be what was happening to Guang Yang. She had been pondering about that phenomenon since she noticed it and only came to a conclusion when she realized how the two of them could more or less feel each other's emotions. Although the feeling was fuzzy, it was still there. Not only that, but she felt comfortable when she was close to him, and it seemed to be a shared feeling by the two. The combination of those two facts had for consequence that the Divine Assassin Empress, known in the Divine Realm to be someone who was merciless and as emotionless as ice, had a small smile plastered on her face for the first time in millions of years. Even if it was almost unnoticeable and hidden behind her mask. Now, to get back to the reason why he was growing up quicker than he should with his weak Immortal Layer Bloodline. From what she guessed it might have been because of the resonance between the Dual Yin Yang Seals. Yin and Yang were two extremely powerful Laws that, although were opposite, were also complementary. Indeed, even in a place where the Yang Law is overflowing, one could find a bit of Yin Law and vice versa. Those two Laws always tried to balance each other, which, when applied to their situations meant that, Bai Yue being an extremely powerful being and an adult woman full of Yin, and Guang Yang being extremely weak and a baby with a bit of Yang, produced a state of imbalance. The Seals wanting to change that state, were helping Guang Yang in reaching a similar level than Bai Yue by helping him grow physically, mentally and even his Life order was improving. From what she could observe, little Yang looked like a 6 months old baby, while being only one and a half months old. As for his Life Order, it was the equivalent of being a Mid Level 1 Mortal Layer Cultivator, and that, without having cultivated a single time. It may not seemed very impressive for prominent family in the Divine Realm since most of them are born as high level Immortals thanks to their bloodline and treasures used while their mothers were pregnant with them. However, in the mortal Realms it was incredible. Following that trend of growth, he should be able to cultivate once he reach one year old, and by that time he may have even reached Level 2 Mortal. Thinking about the future, she felt a feeling unknown to her until now: Anticipation and excitement. “Do I really care about that child so much that my emotions gets disturbed that much?” She was mumbling in a daze. “Is it the effect of the Seals?... It has to be, since I never cared about children before...” While she was lost in thoughts, Guang Yang with his smile as beautiful as an angel and eyes as pure as a billion years ice, patted her hand as if to tell her not to worry too much. Feeling what he wanted to convey through their special link, she chuckled a bit and said. “You're right, little one. Worrying is useless, so I might as well appreciate our Teacher-Disciple relationship.” Holding her chin while feeling a bit playful, she added. “Who knows? Maybe I'll have a child in the future and taking care of you will help me when that time comes, so that I'll know what to do. Also, I can't let you become the kind of man I've met in the past.” A bit of coldness could be heard when she continued. “Although trash would be a better term to describe them, since calling them men would be disrespectful to the other real men in the three Realms.” Looking like he understood what she said, the baby nodded with what he thought was a serious expression, but turned out to be so cute that it could melt the heart of even the coldest being looking at him. It was almost as if some sort of magic came out from him, that decreased other beings' hostility towards him. Seeing his serious expression, she couldn't resist tickling him until he burst out laughing, flailing his arms and legs trying to escape her 'deadly claws' but without success. Suddenly, the AI interrupted their little battle by notifying her of a message sent by the captain she talked to earlier. In it was all the information about how a noble from a Peak Kingdom was flying towards her spaceship and that she was incapable of stopping them, since they were stronger than everyone from her kingdom. She apologized for failing to block them, which would end up with her and her family being bothered. Right after she listened to the message, a demand for communication was sent to the AI from the Noble's vessel. Since she was in a good mood, she didn't do anything drastic right away, and chose to hear them out. Of course, if they pushed their luck, they couldn't blame her for anything that would happened afterwards. She was well-known back in the Divine Realm for being merciless with the ones who triggered her anger. Many powerful organizations were destroyed because one of their leaders tried to push his luck with her. Following her acceptance of the call, a handsome man appeared as a hologram in front of her. The man was the Third Prince from earlier. Seeing that the VIP was a woman with a killer figure that seemed to exist only in men's dream, shock and lust started building up in him, along with a desire to possess the woman in front of him. Indeed, despite her cold exterior, she was a Level 9 Divine Layer Cultivator, which means that her body was refined so much that, if she wasn't restricted by the Realms' Laws and herself, her charms could turn any mortal man into a puppet obeying her will. At one point, the physical turned into something more ethereal, as something that our subconscious perceived, but not our consciousness. That was what happened to lower ranked beings when they met high ranked beings. Noticing his gaze full of lust, Bai Yue started to feel disgusted and her jolly mood became sour, which led her to say in a voice that would freeze an active volcano. “What do you want?” Hearing her cold tone of voice that pushed others away, he did not seemed to care as he replied, bowing slightly with a smile. “My Lady, I am delighted to make your acquaintance. I am the Third Prince of the Hoborg Empire. I presume that you heard of it?” He added with his voice laced with arrogance, thinking to impress her with his background. “Never heard of it. Keep to the point. I don't care about your background.” She replied with disinterest, not even looking at him. She had an inkling as to what he wanted, but was curious about the way he would demand for it. Amusingly, It felt to her like watching a show, where the actor thought he was in control, not knowing it was his own wishful thinking. “Very well, I shall make it brief, then. My friends and I came to this Kingdom a while ago, because we heard of a treasure appearing around here. We then searched everywhere for it, but it was fruitless. What surprised us, though, was seeing your spaceship, which clearly came from a higher level place than here, at the time we planned to leave. My question is this: Were you the one who found the treasure?” He asked with a calm, yet slight threatening tone. “No.” She coldly replied while still playing with little Yang. “Since you have nothing to hide, you wouldn't mind letting us enter your vessel to search for it, right?” He said shamelessly, his voice getting colder. She thought. “Here it is.” She then looked in his direction with a cold gaze emitting a slight killing intent, which made him shiver a little, despite being on his own ship. “You better scram if you want to live.” Although a bit scared, his lust overwhelmed his reasoning and made him threaten her. “If I want to live? That's quite the tone you got there for someone from a trash Kingdom. Especially since even a Level 7 Cultivator wouldn't be able to kill me.” A cruel smile appeared on his face when he added. “Since you don't wish to do it willingly, then I shall do it against your will, keh keh keh.” He finished with a creepy laugh that distorted his handsome face into something disgusting. Following the discussion, the prince's spaceship started to approach the Fox family's vessel in a threatening manner, ready to board it forcefully. Holding her chin, she started thinking. “Mmh... How should I kill him? So many possibilities... I could freeze them?... No, an ice sculpture of a spaceship would be too ugly... Cutting them in tiny pieces with my sword?... Too messy. I don't want little Yang to see that. After all he is too innocent...” While thinking about how she would kill her enemies, the latter was approaching, not knowing that their fate was decided by the woman that they thought harmless. When they were about to reach her spacefaring ship, Bai Yue roused her Mana and the Law of Space to freeze the entire vessel and the people inside. Feeling a bit sadistic, she projected her Divine sense into the mind of everyone on board of the other ship. “Annoying insects. I was enjoying my time with my disciple and you had to bother us.” She said in a annoyed but cold tone of voice. When they felt themselves stuck, not being able to move, the Prince and his cronies understood that they kicked the proverbial iron plate. One of the Peak Level 6 Shadow Guards being more knowledgeable than the other people present there, recalled something that he read in an old jade slip about the some usage of the Law of Space. The latter being an Immortal Law, known for being almost impossible to understand for Mortal Layer Cultivators, particularly when one wished to affect other people than oneself. let alone an entire spaceship full of people. “Senior, we implore you for mercy. Our prince is young and foolish and we failed to stop him. Us shadow guards beg you to punish us and let him go. Our Empire will be extremely grateful for senior's mercy.” The Shadow Guards being death warrior of the Empire, they were prepared to be sacrificed to save the members of the Imperial family's lives. Added to the threat from their empire combined with the enticement of a favor from them, they thought that she would free them. Especially since, in their eyes, she would gain nothing from killing them, besides the enmity from an entire empire. “How many times have I heard similar sentences. What if I was weak? Wouldn't I be played to death by your trash prince? I hate disgusting people like him. Beside, with my strength, why would I care about your gratitude?” She said with loathing filling her voice, after which she declared, having decided their fate. “For being trash, you shall receive death by space obliteration.” When they heard those words, the fear gripping their bodies transformed into overwhelming panic. Some of them begged her for mercy, others started crying, even pissing themselves in fear. Perceiving those reactions thanks to her Divine sense, she thought shaking their heads. “They probably lived this situation in reverse many times. But I guess they never thought they would be the victim this time. Sigh... After millions of years and living this situation many times, I truly wonder why the Realms' Laws don't punish those kind of people. Is there any consequence for their actions?... It doesn't matter, I guess. I'll just deal with it if I see it. Otherwise I won't bother.” Finishing her thought, she used her Law of Space to teleport every dimensional Items from the other vessel into her hand. “Since I'm planning to kill them, I might as well get something out of it. Especially since I don't have any Mortal Layer mana stone. Time for them to die. Singularity!” As soon as she thought about it, she acted. If someone proficient in the Law of Space was here, he would be able to see the entire spaceship surrounded by a sphere composed of space controlled by Bai Yue. That sphere then contracted instantly into a singular point which destroyed everything inside it. From the outsiders' perspective, it looked like the vessel was there one moment and disappeared the next. There was no explosion or shock wave. The kingdom's captain, having guessed the Lady's power level, understood that those people were killed for having bothered her. After all, being a high level official in the Kingdom, she was aware of some of the shady things going on behind the scene with some people from the nobility and even rich merchants. Having seen how charming the Lady was, she could guess what might have happened. A few seconds later, her thoughts were confirmed when the Lady contacted her, informing her of the situation, while also asking her for some information in her usual cold and indifferent voice. “Do you know about a Hoborg Empire? What about a Third Prince?” Hearing those names, her mind made the connection and her face started to become white in fear and shock. Hoping that she was wrong, she stuttered her question, her voice betraying her panic. “M-M-May I-I know w-why senior w-w-wish to know t-t-that information?” Noticing her fear, she could guess the reason behind it. After all, although to her, they were as threatening as the ants on a forest trail, to a weak kingdom like hers, it was a matter of life and death. Since she empathized with her situation, she answered with a less frigid tone. “From your face, you probably guessed the answer. I don't mind paying those people a visit to take care of the problem. But for that, I need information about that empire.” Knowing that nothing could be done on her end now that the deed was done, she controlled her fear and replied with information as accurate as she could, hoping that the Lady in front of her could resolve the problem without involving her and her kingdom. “The Hoborg Empire is a Peak Early Level Empire, which means that they almost reached the Mid Empire Level. From what my kingdom heard, the strongest being in the Empire is close to reaching the Level 8 in power, which would qualify them as Mid Level Empire. As for their high level fighters, I just know that they already qualify as a Mid Level Empire, which means that they have at least 10 Level 7 and 100 Level 6 Beings.” She hesitated a little before adding. “That's only what is known officially, so they might have more high level Cultivators than that. They may even have a Level 8 already.” Having succeeded in regaining her composure, she explained. “The reason why I lost my cool for a moment is because the Hoborg Empire is my kingdom's liege. The third Prince dying in our kingdom makes it our fault in their eyes, even if we had nothing to do with it.” She stopped talking for a second to sigh, thinking of her powerlessness, after which she looked at Bai Yue and bowed deeply, staying in that position. “I, the Kingdom of Decan's captain, begs you in the name of my kingdom for your help to resolve this matter. I'm certain the Royal Family will reward you for your help.” Since she was planning to take care of the problem anyway, she accepted her request by saying. “Ok.” She nodded. “Thank you, your Ladyship!” The captain was overjoyed with her promise, as it was the only way to escape from the consequences of what just happened. Thinking about what she needed to do, she asked Bai Yue. “Your Ladyship, Should I prepare the Teleporter?” The latter answered looking at the Teleporter. “Yes. It's time to leave this place.” After a few minutes, the portal appeared not too far from her spaceship. She thought. “The Hoborg Empire... Interesting...”

Fallout: Vault X
An original novel set in the Fallout universe, written to be accessible to all, featuring unique people and places. Vol.II. out now Fallout: Vault X tells the story of John. A vault dweller, who spent every day of his twenty five years underground. Like his father, and his father before him. Proud to live in the last remaining bastion of humanity, all that survived The Great War of the atomic age. Hidden deep below the surface of the earth, toiling under brutal conditions. Year after year, decade upon decade. All to expand into the natural cave system the Vault occupied, building for the future. However, John knew what his forefathers did not, that everything he’d been taught was a lie. After finishing school at the age of ten, John received his standard issue pipboy. An arm mounted personal computer, worn by everyone in the Vault. Used to coordinate the relentless pace of expansion, needed to work as an apprentice. To learn the craft that would be his life’s work. A noble calling to ensure a future for all that remained of the human race. A quirk of fate saw John equipped not with the crude, clunky, pipboy model his father wore. That almost everyone around him wore. His looked smaller, sleeker, finished in a jet black sheen. And capable of doing far more than its drab counterparts. The world above had been ravaged by atomic flames, yet life clung to its bones. The Red Valley fared better than most in the century since the bombs fell. The clean water and rich soil protected by rolling hills. All spared from direct strikes, for the most part. Life survived here. Trees spawned from charred ground, misshapen, green leaves turned red. Along with simple crops, grown wild at first, then cultivated by the survivors. The scavengers of the old world were inventive, hardy people. All determined to rebuild in the ruins of a world they never knew. In the decades that passed settlements emerged. They grew, spreading along the valley floor. Reclaiming the pre-war remnants of the once industrialised heartland. Salvaging the robotic wonders of a bygone age to build their walls and work their fields. To protect them in the dark of the wasteland. But such things are uncommon in this world, and the rarer something is, the greater its value. And the worth of pre-war technology had not gone unnoticed. The last, real, power in this world rested in the mechanised hands of The Brotherhood of Steel. Forged from the mortally wounded old world military. The Brotherhood used its access to the weapons made for a conflict no one won to strike out into the wastes. Men and women were equipped with advanced armour, aerial transportation, high grade weaponry. Accompanied by the training, strength, and will, to put them to use. They established chapters and set up outputs far and wide. All dedicated to a single purpose. To ensure the technology left abandoned by its long dead creators didn’t fall into the wrong hands. Namely, any hands that were not their own. This is the world John escaped into. A place of horrors brought forth from atomic fire. A place where survival meant battling against the darkness. Fighting a war each day to get to the next. And war...war never changes

Lone: The Wanderer [Dropped Version (includes original draft of the rewrite's first volume)]
Nine-to-five. The daily grind. Life. Painful years of school. Working as a slave for some undeserving corporate big-wig. The monotonous life of unemployment. We all experience this in one way or another, and we can all conclude one thing: it's dull. Such a fact rings true even for the fabled Lone Immortus, a powerful nine-tailed Golden Foxkin. However, what would you do if your monotony was suddenly ground to a halt and you were thrown out of your comfort zone along with a young girl forgotten by time? Perhaps you might have done things differently, been more organised, immediately died, gained control of the world in a matter of days, but this is Lone's tale, not yours. Watching two insecure people struggle to survive and find their place in an unfamiliar land just might be enjoyable to witness. Who knows? One thing's for certain: it won't be an easy path for them to tread, and what could possibly be more entertaining than watching people endure hardships and grow? I know of at least eight gods that would answer with, 'Absolutely nothing.' I wonder, after seeing this journey from start to finish, how would you answer? [Goal of 2 chapters per week, the only exceptions being announced breaks or emergencies] A/N: This story is in the middle of a rewrite, so please forgive any noticeable plot holes and wonky chapter numbers. I am working on it every day, so understanding would be greatly appreciated. The new cover art is a courtesy of the very kind and talented ssddx. This novel is a participant in The Writer's Pledge

A Fool's Journey, or the Vagrancies of a Man in Exotic Lands
What does a sad bastard do when fate, literally, decides to throw him into a fantasy world? Solon just wanted to lead a normal life; work, share some pizza with friends, work, play some videogames or read something, work, maybe sleep?, work... Pretty much the usual, rinse and repeat. It was far from perfect, but life was nicely boring and comfy enough. Truth be told, he had hoped it would go on forever, or until he got married, or until the apocalypse finally decided to bring an end to everything. As far as he could tell, though, the former was about as likely as the latter; not very. And perhaps even somewhat related, if it ever came to it. Unfortunately, he saw himself involved in some sort of cosmic fart that screwed him over, brutally severing his life-plan. Or, maybe, would it be more suitable to say that Fate had other plans? Sure, he's yet to find out exactly what those plans might be, but, at the very least, they do seem to involve him being shoved into another world, fighting off a couple of horrendous creepers, and -almost- an accidental liaison with a baboon. Needless to say, the job doesn't come with dental care, and death seems more likely than retirement... Yep, when he got yoinked out of Earth, there were no princesses waiting for him, no sexy goddesses, and no severe Gandalf-wannabes! Heck, not even a bunch of demonic cultists! All he got for the trouble was a bunch of snarky windows and the honest desire to punch whatever bastard happens to be behind the smug System. Well, that, and a few forced trips to the so-called Tower of Ascension. Not exactly what he would have expected but, on the plus side, he does get to do some magic. Though, not quite the wand-waving kind. Whatever. One thing’s patently clear, though, he’s certainly not the chosen one, nor the summoned hero, nor the Savior. If anything, he himself might be in need of some saving... Just what kind of fool does the System take him for? Please do consider the tags. Also, 'Strong Lead' here means weak to strong, over a decent amount of time, not op from the very beginning. Things to expect: decent grammar, cheeky goats. Things not to expect: Harems, a decent sense of fashion.
