《Exceptional Normalcy (A Pokemon Fanfiction)》CH7 - First Day At School

"Ryan.", I could Here something in the distance.
"Ryan, wake up.", the voice grew louder. It was annoying, couldn't it just go away. For a couple of seconds, nothing happened and I thought that it was gone.
"Ryan! You lazy Slakoth, wake up!" My blanket was forcibly taken away from me. I groggily opened my eyes in order to find the perpetrator who did this.
It was Mike, one of the younger children in the orphanage. Since my second day here, he would always run after me and tried to be my mentor in this place. Most of the time I could ignore him, but with cases like this, it was impossible. I turned myself away and tried to get a few more minutes of sleep. The little shit wasn't getting it and shouted right next to my ear, "Wake Up! If you don't you will be too late for your first day of school." That did get my attention. I quickly jumped out of my bed and ran to my wardrobe.
Since my arrival here, I had the opportunity to go shopping. Not much, just a bigger variety of clothes and the stuff I needed for school. I put on a grey shirt and a pair of black pants. I also wore my new hoodie jacket, which had a Ghost pokemon theme going. It was a washed-out purple in colour. //Believe me when I tell you, here in Sinnoh, you really need a jacket. Right now we are in the middle of spring and there is still frost almost everywhere.//
When I was done with clothing myself, I took my bag and left my room with Mike in tow. He wouldn't stop talking about how lame and boring school is. I then asked him what he wanted to be in the future. When he told me that he wanted to be a Ranger I almost laughed. I then told him in my most serious tone what he had to accomplish in order to realise his dream, that only the best get the privilege to be allowed to attend one of the Ranger schools. With a shocked and slightly alarmed face, Mike took off. I snickered on my way down the stairs, which creeped the hell out of the others who heard it.

When I reached the bottom I could see Marcia, the granny and landlady of this place, coming my way. I put on my most sincere smile and greeted her. She gave me a slight nod in return and beckoned me to follow her. She led me into her office and told me to sit down. She had a stern expression when she began to speak.
"It's great that you got accepted into the Trainer school. I trust that you prepared anything you need for your first day. I insist that stay at your best behaviour and that you won't cause any trouble. Because of your affliction, you already are two years behind everyone else, your age. You can now go to breakfast, I wish you a nice day."
//I can't tell if she likes me or not. Well, I am already late so let's move quickly.// I took a pair of Magost Berries and was already on my way. It took me 15 minutes on foot to reach school and I was a little disappointed. While it looked really impressive, it was not really a big building. It had two floors and a small campus around. There was quite a spectrum when it came to age. It began with 10 years and went up to 15.
Which was surprising because, in this type of school, you didn't graduate in types of grades but with a merit-based system. The better you are the sooner you are done.
There was an official list of subjects that needed to be completed and be done as best as you could. You would receive a certificate if you reach an acceptable standard, when not you had to repeat the test after a time. There were, of course, a huge amount of sub-subjects you could choose from.

I happily took the last couple of metres and entered the school grounds. While I knew where the school was, I still was in the complete dark in which class I would start in. So I took the easy way and walked up to the administration. I explained my case and was soon on my way to class. As I thought I will be put into the beginners' course. When I entered the room I could see a bunch of 9 and 10 years old babbling around. I took a place against the wall opposite the entrance and waited for the teacher to arrive. Some of my soon to be classmates threw me questioning glares while others didn't even seem to realise I was there.
After 5 minutes of me and the class holding a staring contest, the teacher finally arrived. The teacher, who was a friendly man called Mr.Thomson, was surprised when he saw me and asked me who I was. When I told him that I was the new student he seemed to remember something and asked me to introduce myself.
After a gruelling moment of having been asked the most sadistic questions possible. Compromised of but not limited to:
Where are you from? What jobs do your parents have? Who is your favourite Trainer? Are you a ghost? Do you want to join the church of Arceus, our creator and saviour? I looked alarmingly at the one who spouted that last question and saw a girl with fanatical eyes and a giant grin on her face. //C-creepy!?// No one seemed to have taken notice of what the girl just said. They seemed to be used to it.
While most of the question pained me a bit, I answered all of them truthfully, which seemed to have confused them more than having answered their questions. Because of my hight, I was placed on an empty seat in the back row. After a quick review of the last lesson, the teacher told me to catch up with the rest of the class. The same thing happened in almost all the other classes I had today. I was dead tired at the end of the school day and had a good number of things to look up. It took me much longer on my way back to the orphanage and was quite happy when I was finally able to rest.
I was laying in my bed until it was time for supper. I regained a small amount of energy until then, which I quickly used to study some of the things I have been told to. I didn't stay up that long tonight end went to bed in an orderly time.

In Range
A young, talented, and aspiring archer makes his way to the Olympic Archery Qualifiers; however an accident prevents him from ever making it. An accident which took the final years of his adolescence, his dream of ever becoming an Olympic Gold Archer, and most importantly someone who meant the world to him. Rehabilitating for a year in a hospital, the despair and dread of being alone and having nothing left worth living for finally got to him. Finding his way to the rooftop, he decided fall, but where he expected death, something else appeared; a blue message. A chill and simple LitRPG story that I just wanted to write. Note: I write with the Dark Theme setting, so if I make a colour mistake it’s probably why. I also strangely prefer using the Imperial System to measure Height, while I use the Metric System for almost everything else (Canadian by the way).
