《Exceptional Normalcy (A Pokemon Fanfiction)》CH5 - Goodbyes And The Start Of A New Life

It was early in the morning when Emely entered my room. The moment she looked at me was when I knew that I was in big trouble. With a deep breath, Emely walked up to me and put my miserable shape on the bed. I could tell that she was not, in fact, enthusiastic about me staying up all night. She sat on the corner of my bed and began to speak.

"I know all of it, is important to you and that you do it for your future, but please could you promise me not to do it on the risk of your health. I can tell that you stayed up all night because I've seen such dark circles only on my colleagues after a night shift." She looked sad. I didn't want her to look sad. //I guess I have to promise her that. She really is like an older sister. Even her ability to make me feel guilty. She is totally trying to manipulate me. Hehe, not with me.//

"Ok, I promise I will not stay up so late any more as often as for me possible. Is that ok?" //Will she takes note of the backdoor? Please don't let her notice it.// And it seemed like my wording went through. Emily looked relieved and gave me a caring smile. "Yes, that will do. Now tell me what you have planned!" //Wow, she really is nosy today but can I really blame her. I mean I will be discharged later today and transferred to the local orphanage.//

"First of all, I have to say goodbye to all my friends here. Then I will have to pack my belongings. While we are already at that point, did I have anything with me?" I asked her with a questioning look on my face. "Not as far as I could remember. There were the clothes on your body, which by the way were much too big for you and a weird device that looked like a phone. Not that we can tell, the stupid thing wouldn't even work."

//Ok, all well and good but why did I just hear about that only now? I mean that thing could have been a clue to my past.// Sigh, I shouldn't beat myself up about something that I can't even change. I still gave Emely the stink eye, which she replied with an apologetic smile. I gave a loud yawn from me and could feel myself slipping into a dozy state. I could still remember that Emely was about to say something and then I was completely gone.

A few hours later, at least that' what it felt like. I rose from the realm of dreams once more. From the position of the sun, it should be around midday. With a slightly depressive mood, I left my bed and began to attire my new clothes. It was the hospital that provided me with this set. Nothing fancy, just a plain white shirt and black sweatpants. A pair of sneakers were laid next to the door. I quickly put them on and left my room.

My first stop was, of course, the siblings. I knocked on their door and walked in when they allowed me. The moment they saw me, they could tell that it was time for me to go. We hugged each other and promised that we will meet up at some point. I was soon on my next stop. The old lady was happy for me that I was able to leave the hospital. I told her that I will miss her stories at which she laughed. Piplup didn't show as much enthusiasm about me abandoning it and kept on hiding since then.

A few other goodbyes went the same way and ended in a similar fate. My emotional state was in turmoil. I didn't really want to go, this was the only place I knew. //But all good things must end...where did that come from?// I soon found myself at the entryway of the hospital. Emely was standing in front of me while holding a bag out in my direction, "Here that's for you. It holds everything you came with. May Arceus watch over you. Please stay healthy and don't forget to sleep and..." //If I don't stop her now, this will go on forever.// "Yes, 'Mom'! I understand. I will take care of myself. "

I gave her a cheeky smile and could feel tears building up. I held them back as if I could cry in this situation. I surprised her by giving her a hug and

whispered in her ear, "Thank you for everything." I quickly loosened my grip and took a few steps back. Emely escorted me out of the hospital and saw me off as I walked up to the employee of the orphanage. I greeted the woman and entered the car. We slowly left the compound, while I took a last look at the hospitals' entrance.

The car ride took at least a good 20 minutes until we reached our goal. I left the vehicle and took a glance at my new home. It was a medium sized 3 story building with a colourful exterior it seemed to scream all good and fun. Another person, an old lady beckoned me to the entrance. "Hello, you must be Ryan, right? I have heard of your situation and we will help you as best as we can." The granny gave me a warm smile and led me into the house.
