《Exceptional Normalcy (A Pokemon Fanfiction)》CH4 - I've Got A Name, A Name Of My Own ♪

I had to say, that the tasks weren't so bad as I thought they would be. Math was surprisingly very easy. The same for reading and writing. I had a bit of a disagreement with the ethical questions. Logic also seemed a little off, but I could work around that. And as I predicted I was for the most part completely lost in the part of Pokemon knowledge. Good enough that it showed that I knew what pokemon were, but so bad that it would be questionable to let me take care of one.
The government's delegate told me that my result looked like as if my possible parents didn't want me to become a trainer or something in that direction. That was a possibility, but I could feel that it was wrong, but not how or why. So I just played along and affirmed his conclusion with a slight nod. He then asked, what I wanted to become. //Well, I want to work with Pokemon at least.//
And that's what I told him. He then told me of all the requirements it took to get a licence for pokemon caring and that without one I will be apprehended if a police officer finds me in possession of a pokemon. Only qualified people, with the appropriate education, were allowed to own/work with pokemon.
//Nurse Joy you have my respect. Medical and pokemon education. Just Wow.//
The good Sir than continued by showing me different educational sites, which would teach me the needed information. He then told me, that he had to finalise my information and that my new ID would be ready when he shows up again next week. The moment he left the room was the start of a whole week of study and boy there was much to learn. From behaviour, feeding, training, cleaning, general to specific knowledge, special needs, the list went on and on.

To say that a week was too short was an extreme understatement, but now I had a feeling of what I was working with. What needs to be done to live with powerful and intelligent creatures. This weren't just animals, they were feeling and thinking organisms. Emily was overjoyed at my beliefs and told me that I was already better than some trainers out there. Which surprised me greatly, but in hindsight, what did you expect from 10 years old that got the power of organic weapons on their hands. This also was the reason why most children did get a normal type as their starter pokemon, in the case of this region, it was Bidoof.
The old lady also taught me many things most of them were the practical application of all the knowledge I gathered. Piplup certainly liked the attention it got from that. I still played with the siblings, but they noticed that I wasn't really into it and left me to my studies most of the time. So when the man was finally back, he delivered me with an overdramatic fashion my new ID. It was a sleek little card, which held my name, birth date, origin and my ID number.

While I had no control over my given name, the last name was my doing. //Call me childish if you want, because you know, right now, I am one. Hehehehe//
The man in front of me could only shake his head at my antics. Truly a Ghost affinity he seemed to think. He then began a speech about what will come of me, my future prospects and a possible ongoing education. It seemed like I would be put into an orphanage for the meantime. I would be staying there until I finished an education (of any kind). And by the state of my health, this would be very soon. I would get an allowance provided by the government till the age of 16.

He then gave me a folder with all the needed information and then began to see himself off. I thanked him for all his help and said goodbye. After he was gone, I opened the folder and skimmed over the pages. That is until I found a file that was titled with 'readme'. When I opened it, I found different prospects from a variety of Training facilities with the focus on Pokemon. It was a list for all kind of career choices. The main attractions were the Trainer school (which you could find in almost any major city.) Ranger school only existing in Fiore, Almia or Oblivia. Pokemon University (Where you become a Pokemon Professor.) There were also a bunch of courses you could take and camps to visit.
While I seriously doubted that I would ever become a Ranger, I planned on going to the trainer school here in this city. There were also a few courses that aroused my interest. From there I went from page to page planning out my future late into the night.

Shadowcroft Academy for Dungeons: Year One
Build a Dungeon. Slay Heroes. Survive Finals. Wounded Army vet Logan Murray thought mimics were the stuff of board games and dungeon manuals… right up until one ate him. In a flash of snapping teeth, Logan suddenly finds himself on the doorstep to another world. He’s been unwittingly recruited into the Shadowcroft Academy for Dungeons—the most prestigious interdimensional school dedicated to training the monstrous guardians who protect the Tree of Souls from so-called heroes. Heroes who would destroy the universe if it meant a shot at advancement. Unfortunately, as a bottom-tier cultivator with a laughably weak core, Logan’s dungeon options aren’t exactly stellar, and he finds himself reincarnated as a lowly fungaloid, a three-foot-tall mass of spongy mushroom with fewer skills than a typical sewer rat. If he’s going to survive the grueling challenges the academy has in store, he’ll need to ace the odd assortment of classes—Fiendish Fabrication, Dungeon Feng Shui, the Ethics of Murder 101—and learn how to turn his unusual guardian form into an asset instead of a liability. And that’s only if the gargoyle professor doesn’t demote him to a doomed wandering monster first…
