《The Young Lord Is A Prodigy (Dropped)》Chapter 4

“Ugh.”
I opened my eyes to see another unfamiliar ceiling. Or is it another bed this time?
‘Did I die again?’
Reincarnating again? How unfortunate.
“Are you awake?” I heard a familiar voice.
I turned to look at the speaker. Harry looks at me with concern. Never mind then.
“How long was I unconscious for?” I asked him.
“A whole day,” Harry answered.
“Damn,” I muttered under my breath.
“That said, why would you train on your own?” he said angrily with a not-so-angry expression.
‘But you look so worried though.’ I thought while smiling.
He might be a bit sarcastic and rude when I first met him, but he’s a nice guy. I’m talking as if I’ve known him more than a day. Heh.
“This isn’t funny, young master; You could have died.” Harry scolded me after catching me smiling.
“It did feel like I was going to die,” I said jokingly.
I did feel like I was going to die though.
“This is no time for jokes, young master. Tell me, why did the young master train by himself even though I stressed that you shouldn’t?” Harry looked serious when he asked me.
“I was just curious,” I said nonchalantly.
“Hahhh.” he sighed.
“How did you know I was training anyway?” I asked with genuine curiosity.
“I felt some remnants of mana around you.”
“Huh.”
That’s possible too, huh?
“More importantly, how did the young master do it?” Harry suddenly asked.
“How did I do what?” I asked back, confused.
“There’s mana around you. That means you successfully felt and absorbed mana. How did the young master do it?”
‘What is he saying all of a sudden?’
“I just did it as you taught me,” I told Harry.
“No, how is that possible? It usually takes months for the normal person to start feeling mana moreover absorbing it. In the first place, not just anyone had the talent to feel mana!” Harry yelled with excessive enthusiasm.

Is there such a thing? Why does it take so long for people to feel mana? Is he trolling? Anyways, his loud yelling is annoying me.
“Stop yelling.”
“Pardon me.”
Harry calmed himself.
“So how did you do it, young master?” Harry asked, with a calmer voice this time.
“As I said, I just did it as you taught me,” I answered truthfully.
“No way.” Harry gasped with a small voice.
‘Should I tell him?’ I thought about telling him the results of my self-training session.
I need someone knowledgeable about mana to help me with my studies. If I’m going to establish a new mana system in this world I can’t do it alone. I’m not a genius after all.
“By the way, I found out something interesting in my experiment.”
“Experiment?” Harry seemed confused by my choice of words.
“I found out there are other focal points in the human body for using mana around the brain and the navel.” I ignored his confusion and continued with my story.
“What?” Harry exclaimed with a perplexed look on his face.
“Based on this discovery I made a theory on how mana can be stored in the lower dantian and used in a different method than resonance with atmospheric mana. Although, I still have no idea how to implement that theory yet.” I kept blabbering on with my discovery and ideas.
“W-wait, I need to recap what the young master has just said. You said there’s another focal point for the construction of magic circuit in the human body and the young master had come up with a theory for an alternative method of using mana?” Harry looked more confused the more he talks.
“Yeah,” I said with a nonchalant expression.
“This...”
Harry looked horrified as he looked at me.
“What are you, young master?” he asked, sounding genuinely curious in his question.

“How rude, I’m human aren’t I?” I answered, annoyed at his absurd question.
I got down from my bed and walked towards the exit.
“He’s a prodigy.” Harry started talking to himself. I think he’s gone crazy now.
I pretended to not hear him as I exited the sickbay.
Me? A prodigy? There’s no way a college dropout like me is such a thing.
***
I examined my mana channel as I walked down the hallway towards my room.
‘That was dangerous.’ I breathed a sigh of relief when I found out there’s nothing wrong with my body.
I could have died. I’m lucky to survive that, was it plot armor?
Anyways, I’m fine now. I should continue my experiment.
What? It’s dangerous? It’s fine, I experienced qi deviation because I got too excited at my discovery of the lower and upper dantian. I should just calm my mind next time.
As I head towards my room I found my mother walking in the opposite direction of me. She had a face of worry when she saw me.
Is it because I fainted? When she saw me she quickly ran towards me and embraced me.
“Are you okay? Why would you do such dangerous things?” she scolded me but she sounded like she’s about to cry.
‘What’s this about?’
“Why do you sound so worried, mother?” I asked her.
“You said it yourself, I’m your mother aren’t I?” she said as if it was a matter of fact.
Is this what they call parental love? I had no way of knowing as I was an orphan in my previous life. I heard about how parents treat their children but I have never experienced it myself.
This, I guess it doesn’t feel too bad.
“Sorry for worrying you, mother.” I apologized to my mother with a smile.
I noticed Rodwell behind my mother as always and smiled at him too. He hid behind his mother but I didn’t mind.
“Harry told me the reason you fell unconscious. Tell me why you ignored his warning?” mother sternly ask me.
“I got too curious,” I said smilingly.
A warm smile appeared on mother’s face.
“Just don’t do it again,” she advised.
“I won’t.” I gave her my guarantee.
I guess the experiments can wait.
***
‘I need to find out more about this world.’ I thought as I sat on the couch in my room.
I don’t even know the name of the kingdom I live in. I need to find out why mages across history had only found the middle dantian. There’s got to be something about it in the history lessons.
I had a tutor supposedly but I always slept during the lessons. I guess studying was still boring to me even in this life. What an irresponsible tutor, he didn’t even bother waking me up.
I need my father to find me a new tutor.
It’s not his fault? No, his irresponsibility shows his incompetence as a tutor. You can’t blame a student for finding his lessons boring.
Anyways, because of the deviation of mana energy yesterday, I failed to achieve any results with my training other than the discovery of the upper and lower dantian. And I promised to wait until my next magic lesson to start training.
I guess that’s the only thing left to do now.
I exited my room and head towards the training grounds. I found Henderson and talked with him.
“Teach me swordsmanship now.” I politely requested.

Office Days
Follow Captain Monday and the Weekdays team as they fight the good fight against the villainous Weekends. Oh, and file form a33-2 before eoq3. Comes with a dash of The Office and Office Space plus a side of Super Hero satire. Office Days is episodic in nature. So each story is standalone and may vary in length and focus. The Monday Case is the first episode and serves mostly to introduce the characters broadly. Comments get +Rep for effort. This setting was intended to be a comic series but I never found an artist for the job... probably for lack of trying. The "art" is for concept only... it took me far too long to make and it's still all sub-par.
