《Inter-dimensional House Travel》Chapter 10: Gobs?

The Goblin Chieftain was holding a piece of meat he has taken from one of the dead animal’s corpse. It was tasty, the blood gave it a nice smell and a different flavour that was a nice change from the game meat he had everyday.

“Hey Glok how is the raid going?” he asked one of his serfs

“Its going great my chieftain, we have already set fire to their fields and have taken a lot of their so called ‘live stock’, I still don’t understand these pink skins and those furries, why would they eat leaves when they have a lot of meat?” the goblin answered.

To the Chieftain and other goblins, People and other sentient civilizations seemed stupid, except for the meat eaters. Why would the pink skins who call them selves humans eat something that animals would eat? And they even claim that they are more civilized? For them that was a joke.

“Good, those guys never have seen it coming, it was a good thing we attacked a few hours before those pink skins will send a patrol to the area.”

The goblins from his tribe regarded him as a genius, the strongest goblin in the land excelling both in Intelligence and Strength. They controlled a vast land and many of the lesser tribes have been gradually absorbed by their group.

But to the [Chieftain], he was more of a revolutionary. He was once only a lowly warrior in the tribe, but through many killings and ambushing travelers, he had made a name for himself and in time he disposed of the former chieftain and since then none have challenged him.

He made many changes to the ways the tribe functioned, before the tribes only had two armed groups. There was the raiding group that would attack settlements and villages, and a guard group that would defend their village from external enemies, be it monsters and other goblins. He studied how humans and other civilizations worked, he saw that the reasons the humans have always defeated them was because of their formations and superior weaponry. The latter of which is something a goblin has knowledge of, but because he had a close eye on the tactics of the human soldiers, he incorporated it to his forces.

He made a few new groups, one was called the Wolf-riders which he made after he tamed a pack of wolves, he was able to make the perfect shock troops that were able to shock enemies into disarray and was their first attackers. The second group he made was the Archery line, prior to this the only ranged weapons they had were crude javelins, but seeing humans use bows, he made his first prototype of a goblinese bow and from then his men have adopted the usage of the bow.

But the most important of all of his work was the making of their own mage group. For goblins, magic was very rare, and in their tribe there were only a few individuals that were able to use magic, and only one was able to use magic that was above tier 1. Human armies always had atleast a few mages, so he tried to make his few magic casters to atleast learn higher tier magic, and in time they all knew atleast the tier 1 [Fireball] and tier 2 [Fire blade] which was a good addition to their forces.

After that he attacked many other goblin tribes in his area, he has killed many other [Chieftains] and absorbed all their members. The next thing he plans was to burn as many human and demi human settlements and villages as they can, because that was the most fun thing a goblin can do. And it’s seeing things made by others burn to the ground.

‘hahahaha’

This was a great day for his tribe, the time was right to attack the humans. In time they will outnumber the humans and will rebuild the fallen Goblin Kingdom. Though goblins don’t have any written history, they had a unique skill that made them able to gain a bit of knowledge from their ancestors. With him absorbing other tribes, their knowledge was pooled into him and he had pieced out some vital information about the former Goblin Kingdom.

‘no one and nothing can stop us from doing this’

BANG!!!

There was a sudden bang heard from the distance, the [Chieftain] saw a small band of soldiers that were running to their direction.

‘those stupid pink skins will die! We outnumber that measly party’

“Attack those humans! Kill them all and give me their heads!” the Chieftain said

“Ooooohhhhhhh!!!” all Goblins

The goblins rush to the humans who were also rushing to attack them. The humans were advancing using a tight circle formation with their swords and spears ready to attack, while the goblins were in a very wide formation that allowed them to maneuver better than the human force. In a few moments the goblins have encircled the humans who are now defending themselves.

“Men don’t falter, there only goblins, we can kill them!” the Captain said which raised the morale of the men.

“Hah! Humans, we outnumber you and you expect to leave here alive? You will all die and we will attack more villages after! Gobs attack them.” the Chieftain order.

The goblins ran and their bodies clashed against the soldiers swords and shields. Though some of them died, the goblins still rushed and still collided against them. Which gave the soldiers quite a scare, even though they are soldiers, they are only conscripts and most of them have only been conscripted recently.

“Arghhh” a soldier shouted as a goblin bit his arm.

“Fucking goblins! Take this…. Ahhhhh!” another soldier said as he tried to stab a goblin and got his arm cut of by one of the goblins swords.

“Don’t falter! We can win against these lowly mobs!” the Captain shouted.

‘ahh the shouts of fear from humans! I just enjoy it!’

BANG!!!

A bang then rang and a goblin suddenly dropped dead in front of them. All the goblins and soldiers stopped and looked at Justin who was holding his pistol.

“Fucking goblins, they look as bad as they are in video games! And they smell bad!” he shouted as he aimed his gun and shot another goblin. BANG! “…die!” he said as another goblin dropped dead.

‘Fucking pink skin!’

“Get the one holding that rod! And give his weapon to me!” he ordered and the goblins all targeted him.

BANG!

BANG!

BANG!

With every bang, the Goblins have dropped dead.

“Christa! Jarlmond! Cover me while I reload.” Justin said as he tried to reload his revolver. That was one of the cons of the revolver he brought. It only had 6 bullets. “I should have brought the damn Pistol!”

‘What kind of weapon is that?’ The goblin Chieftain thought as he looked at Justin who just finished loading his weapon. ‘Just imagine how much pink skins and furries we can kill with something like that! I want to get it!’

The Chieftain then moved to try and attack him from behind, stalking his target, he walked as low as he can and looked from side to side.

‘good, those stupid pink skins don’t notice me.’

He then pounced from behind with his scimitar. And was suddenly blocked by a sword.

“Goblin, you look like the Chieftain of this tribe, as a Captain of the Marthean Army, I will kill you and we will destroy your tribe.” the Captain said as he readied to attack again.

“Pink skin, you shall die, I am the best chieftain! I am stronger!” He shouted as he turned his body and slashed at the Captain.

The Captain blocked the swing with his sword and was taken aback, it was the first time a goblin has been able to push him back.

“I must say Chieftain, you are strong. But you are still just a goblin. Hahh!” he said as he swung his weapon at the goblin.

The Goblin dodged and swung his scimitar at the Captain’s knee. Seeing the attack the captain jumped to avoid the incoming attack. The Chieftain then stopped his swing midway and changed the direction of his attack upwards. The captain then in mid air twisted his body which made his sword parry the Chieftain’s incoming scimitar.

“You are skilled pink skin, but as you see your men are dying.” he exclaimed. Around them the soldiers were dwindling in number, though the goblins are too, their loses are minimal because this was only half of their total force. “We will annihilate you!”

BOOM!

A big boom rang and the blood and guts of goblins flew a few feet from the blast area.

“Hahahaha! That worked as expected!” Justin shouted as he lit another Dynamite and threw it to another group of goblins.

BOOM!

More goblins die from the second blast and this made the goblins scared of Justin.

“Run!” A goblin shouted as he run but suddenly dropped dead as a bullet struck his head.

“...!”

“Goblins! You evil creatures shall die!” Justin shouted as he threw another Dynamite at the scrambling goblins.

“Ahhh! Spare us! Aghh…” A goblin said as he was stabbed by a soldier.

“We can win this!” a Soldier shouted

“Yeahhh!” The others roared as they pressed their attack on the marauding goblins that were now scattering in different directions.

“Come back you cowards! Whatever, Mages attack!” The chieftain shouted, and from out of the treeline, goblin mages let lose their fireballs. “Hahahaha! I win~”

“No!” the captain exclaimed as he looked at the stunned faces of his men as the multiple fireballs target them.

“...Tangus suh aran locitum!”

Suddenly the captain and the soldiers were shielded by a magical barrier. The captain the looked at Christa who was struggling to stand up, having consumed a lot of mana for the barrier. She collapsed beside Justin who grabbed here as she fell down.

“Tch! Insolent fools! Take this!” the Goblin rushed at the startled Captain and slashed at his arm, the Captain didn’t block in time and his blood was drawn.

“Hahahaha! Like I said you will die… ‘Bang’ …ughhh…” The goblin flew a few feet to the side and suddenly fell to the ground, a hole was visible from the side of his left temple, his green blood oozing out of the hole.

“That goblin was annoying,” He said as he tried to aim at the goblins on the trees.

“Hahahaha nice one! Men charge! Try and capture them if you can!” The Captain ordered as his men charged straight to the goblins that were now in all different directions, some of them fought to the bitter end, while a few just laid themselves in fetal position and were captured.

Goblins, even though they are monsters, are still sentient beings, and can be used by summoners as summoned monsters. Even if they looked weak, if trained and with a large group, they can match even beast demi-human in strength. So the Captain decided to have some captured and be sold of a small but good sum of money.

After the battle, the soldiers only had a few casualties, most of them were either new recruits or the older men who were from the town’s garrison. Even with the deaths of their comrades, they were still happy because it was luck that they had Justin with his weapons along with them.

A lot the men were injured and with Christa being down and out for now, they just wrapped their wounds with some bandages and were helping the farmers that they discovered hiding inside some of the untouched houses that the goblins didn’t burn down. Only a few of them were able to survive, most of them children who were now left orphaned because the adults were trying to defend the children. The others were the elderly who now have nowhere to go now.

“What will we do now Captain?” one of the soldiers asked as he was dragging his leg that was splinted with two wood planks. “…we can’t just leave them here Captain, we don’t know if they could survive in this place now.”

The Captain looked at the surroundings, beast demi-human and human children who are crying and the elderly that trying to pacify them as the few soldier that could move around and about were digging graves for their dead. “I myself would want to help them” He said as he glanced at the man Justin who was treating the injured “But we have imposed ourselves to Justin to much already, though I doubt he would leave them here to their fates, I cannot order the man to take care of the refugees here.”

He sighed as he looked at the sky, only a few hours til dusk. He has already sent a runner back to the town of Lersche to report the incident and they are only waiting for backup, and for the body carts to come and take the fallen soldiers. The smoke cloud was quite visible to them when they were a few meters away from the town, but how could the guards stationed at Lersche not see the huge plume of smoke coming from the fire burning fields and houses.

Justin came over to the Captain after he treated the wounded, though he didn’t have any magic to help heal their wounds, he did have basic knowledge of first aid and was able to at least mitigate the damages dealt to them. He himself had a few scars and scratches but was still looking very healthy.

‘oh what I’d do to be young again!’ the captain thought as he looked at Justin

“...your thoughts Captain?” he asked as he sat beside the Captain

“Just thinking about how and why no one from the Town didn’t see the smoke coming from the settlements here.” he answered

“I was thinking of the same thing, can you think of anyone who has the ability to conceal smoke of that size?”

“I don’t know much about magic, and such I can’t answer your question. The goblins might have a hand on that, but we can’t rule out the possibility of a third party. But no one comes mind.” the captain said as he turned around upon hearing the sound of galloping horses.”looks like the reinforcements have arrived.”

Coming towards them was a man wearing robes and a conical hat, probably a mage and the burly man that greeted them earlier that day when they reached Lersche.

“Greetings captain,” the burly man said as the Captain stood up “It seems that you’ve had your hands full, what happened anyways?”

“seems so, oh by the way Justin, He is Sir Taiga, I believe you met him earlier right?” he asked Justin as he stood up.

“Yes, Greetings Sir Taiga, I am Justin.”

“Greetings to you to Justin, I’m sorry if we weren’t introduced earlier, since we had some things to do.” he said as he shook his hand. “Oh, and this is the Town Magistrate, Sir Yuri. And also aide when I served in the wars.”

“Good day to you, Sir Justin.” he bowed down and Justin followed. “I felt a small disruption in the air earlier, but since it was only small, I just shrugged it off earlier. Until we received word of the goblin attack from the Captain’s messenger.” he explained

“We came here as fast as we can, I brought my own Century to the field. They will arrive shortly.”

“that’s good to hear Sir Taiga, but might I ask about your role in the Kingdom?”

Taiga smiled at Justin “Well young Justin, I am actually what you would call a [noble], and a [warrior], but most people call me a [Centurion]. And since I heard from Captain Valen that you were not from the kingdom originally, I procured some books that I planned on sending to your place, but due to these unexpected circumstances. I had my man haul it with them, though I planned to give this as a gift, I expect great things from a visionary as you.” he then turned around and laughed all the way back to his horse.

Yuri then came to Justin and put his hand on his shoulder “Don’t get it to you that much Sir Justin, he means well. He’s a bit of a meat head, but a good man nonetheless. And that’s the reason I help him, and will continue to as long as I can.” he then went to catch up on the [Centurion]. The captain just laughed as he stood up and left Justin there sitting alone.

‘he doesn’t look like a bad man, and the books would do me a good favour too. I’ll need to brush up my knowledge when I get my hands on those.’ Justin said to himself as he laid himself down on the grass, ignoring the blood on it’s blades.

Meanwhile, the group of anarchist are now reporting to their leader. Who is the leader you ask? It’s none other than the governor.

“Master, we come to report.” said the cat-man wearing a black body suit. “We successfully cast the illusion magic, but the man has killed all the marauding goblins, including the up and coming goblin lord. We have left Kara alone to follow them and she disguised herself as a traveler.”

“Good job all of you, now begone, oh call for Kyura. I need to ask her something.”

“Understood Master.” they say as they vanish.

“Looks like the man is quite resilient, though I doubt he was responsible for all of that.” He took a sip of his wine and looked to the corner of the room. “What do you think of the man Kyura?” and suddenly Kyura materializes in the corner, walking up to the governor.

“He doesn’t look too strong, no visible battle wounds, no muscles. And he only carried a small piece of wood and metal on his waist. We tried to look into it more, but the mage with them was able to block our scrying.”

That was a bad thing for the Governor, he already made a lot of moves against Captain Valen, which included only having a single mage be assigned to him. But he didn’t expect that the young mage was that good, he needed to formulate a plan.

“Suna what’s wrong? Want me to go and spy on them personally?” Kyura said breaking the silence. But the Governor just pulls her over to bed and made love to the Cat-girl.

Outside, the other rouges where listening in on them.

“There goes the boss.” rouge 1

“And Kyura really seems like she enjoys herself.” rouge 2

“But they are childhood friends, so we really should’ve expected that from them.” rouge 3

“Still, we must support them, so that our clan can move to the next phase. And that is the rebirth of our house.” the rouge leader said as he came out from the shadows. “To the glory of house Nekota!”

“To the house!” they said as they dispersed and vanished.

Kyura does not know that her clan knows of the things between them. And she does not know about their plan of liberating the clan from them.

A few hours later, Justin and the group reached the house, outside they were greeted by Aileena and the Soldiers.

“Welcome home master!” She said as Justin and the group approached the settlement, in just a day the soldiers have managed to build structures and a small barracks.

“Hello, Aileena.” he responded as he looked at the men, some were still busy tidying up the place, because it was nearing night time. “Your men seem to have made quite the progress captain” amazed at the speed of the work, he gave a thumbs up at as the soldiers looked at him.

“that’s expected! We are the strongest army of the Kingdom! Well second to the Royal guard, and maybe the legions, and maybe the armies of nobles….”

“I get it Captain, you are strong.” Christa interrupted.

“Well we are the strongest, the north is quite hostile you know.”

“I agree with the Captain completely, even with the war in the south, the mortality rate is higher in Aldrain. And that only counts the ones that are reported, who knows how many really die?” Sir Taiga interjected

“Captain! Sir Justin… and Sir Taiga, I didn’t expect you to come here.” The vice-captain said as he ran to our position.

“A lot of things happened earlier Marshu, but with Sir Justin’s weird weapon, we managed to at least minimize our casualties. We need to call for a meeting with the commander and the army, things have become a bit problematic lately.” Captain said to his vice-captain and called the other officers of the company as they called for a meeting.

“Your house looks splendid sir Justin! Mind if we take a tour?” Sir Taiga said as he and Sir Yuri dismounted their horses.

“It would be my pleasure Sir.” he answered and faced Aileena. “Aileena, there is some food at the wagon Sir Taiga’s men have brought with us, kindly take it all to the kitchen. And please prepare dinner with the ingredients as you see fit.” he asked as he guided Sir Taiga and Sir Yuri inside.

After the tour, they went down to the dinning room, well it looked almost akin to a small mess hall since the apartment was actually made to accommodate many boarders. It was what the landlord said to Justin, but he was always the only person that was renting a room in the whole house.

On the hallway between the dinning room and living room, Justin noticed the stack of books that the noble has given him, or should I say bribed him with. Justin was happy to see that the books were actually intelligible with him, even if it wasn’t written in any writing system he knew before. The blessing of Divine Language was really convenient.

“The food looks good Sir Justin! Your maid has done a good job!” Sir Taiga exclaimed as they entered into view of the food. On the table was a different kinds of cooked vegetables and meat. There was soups, saucy food and even a salad. A very balanced meal. The silverware was also arranged nicely.

“Thank you for the compliment sir.” She bowed down after she said.

“Oh Aileena, call for Christa, the Captain and Vice-captain Marshu over. And also call your father and younger brother, so we can start.” Justin said and Aileena excused herself.

“You have quite the collection of strange looking stuff Sir Justin,” the Centurion said as he sat down and held a spoon that was on the table. “and the silverware looks quite splendid, no visible nicks or marks from hammering.”

“Thank you Sir Taiga, those were made by artisans from where I come from.”

“Yuri what do you think about the place?” Sir Taiga asked Yuri who was also fiddling with a spoon.

“I might say the silver ware looks nice, and the lighting to the place is also nice,” Yuri exclaimed as he looked at the light bulbs on the ceiling. “They are brighter than any light source I know of, well not as bright as magic, but I don’t sense any magic on the lights.”

“Those are powered by… technology from my home. It’s quite hard to replicate.”

“I see… It does look so.”

“Ahh! Sir Justin! The food looks good.” Captain Valen said as he entered the Room with Christa and Marshu in tow.

“Good Evening Captain.”

“Well then looks like we only need to wait for the maid and her family.” Sir Yuri said as they three get seated.

“Justin can I be frank with you?” the Captain asked suddenly as he sat down beside Justin. he just looked at the captain. “Well about the… orphans and old people we brought with us, I myself want to help them, but we don’t have enough coin to support them. Though asking help from you is what I wanted to do, I realize that you already have a lot of people in your employ in just a few days. But can you please help them for now?” he asked.

“I plan on helping them even if you haven’t suggested captain, but I expect the some help from the government for making the settlement.”

“That’s nice!” the captain perked up “Looks like we can really count on someone like you. The government would likely help you, since they can give a small amount of money as a loan to new settlements, though it also means that the governor will likely send one of his men here to set up an office. i doubt that it would be a problem for you though.”

“I’ll think about that captain, it would be nice to have a connection to the Governor.”

“Nice to hear that.” the captain’s face then changed to a gloomier expression “But always remember that the Governor is a sly man.”

Justin kept that in mind just in case, the Captain was a good man, and he trusted him as much as he trusted Justin. Which was not too much. As Aileena and her family came they all get eat their meals. Everyone of them enjoyed it.

A kilometer away, a group of goblins were slowly being annihilated by a group of adventurers. One of them, a young man wielding a bastard sword, slashed at the last goblin that was left alive.

“Looks like that’s all of them buggers.” the man said as he wiped the blood of his face.

“Indeed, the gods have favoured us in this battle.” said the Cleric beside him, he had a thin but toned body and wore white robes. “though I must say my robes are now ruined.”

“Hey Kiara, are there any of them that retreated?” the man in full plate asked the ranger who was on top of a tree with a knocked bow.

“I got ‘em all ya’ no’! I spot a sma’ camp near da’ riva’, I think it’ da’ army, wan’na che’ it out?” she asked her mates.

“Wonderful! Maybe I can have my robes washed there!” said the cleric

“And maybe they have some meat, can’t survive here too much without meat you know.” said the armored hulk

“That settles it then, Kiara, try to scout it for now so we can be sure it’s the army.” he ordered the ranger.

“Aye’ Marcus. Oh and try to get as much goblin ears as you can.” She jumped down and ran to the location of Paraiso.

“You think she can manage it?” asked the Armored hulk

“Even if she is new, she was recommended by Marcus’ brother, but she does have skill with the bow.” answered the Cleric

“And do note that she is a Faush, and we all know that demi humans from that lineage are known for their skill in the art of stealth. So I believe in her skills.” Marcus added as they move to take all the dead goblin’s ears, it will give them some good cash.

While the adventurers are taking their ears, Glok was silently watching in a safe distance.

‘Those pesky pink skins, the tribe has suffered so much in a day. Meddling adventurers…’ after the death of the previous chief, he was chosen by the tribe to lead it a new, and after which he gained knowledge from the past chief’s collective lives. ‘Stupid humans, you will all die, specially the one with the metal rod! And that blasted swordsman!’ he thought to himself. Looking through his new found knowledge, he devises his plan on again attacking the humans near the river.
