《Inter-dimensional House Travel》Chapter 5: More Knowledge?

Justin’s POV

Since I practically showed them how a gun works, they kinda got interested in owning such a weapon. Through out history, people that make more powerful weapons would cause a huge stir in the battle field, and new these technologies would most likely always make a huge impact in the overall war that happens in a specific time in history.

“Well Captain I would be honored to offer Marthea my knowledge, but that knowledge is a forbidden art that only a few of from where I came from actually know how to do. And unfortunately I don’t know how to make any weapon in the first place.”

The Captain just looks at me for a moment and smiles.

“Well Sir Justin, forget what I just suggested to you. Thinking more into it, I realize that such a weapon would be to terrifying to use in wars. Even if we do use it only to protect our people, such a technology might get into the hands of our enemies, we wouldn’t like that, specially if the Dark Kingdoms get hold of it.” - Captain Valen

Did he just say Dark Kingdoms?”…Captain, can you tell me more about those so called Dark Kingdoms?” I kinda got curious, what could make a Kingdom a Dark kingdom?

“First let me explain about the various kingdoms around this continent, Our kingdom, Marthea, is one of the lesser kingdoms that are mostly landlocked, our kingdom is currently surronded by three other kingdoms and the Theocracy. As I already told you to our north, we have a border with Prathea, as I told you earlier, we were at war with the Pratheans some time ago. We might not have any more hostility towards them, but we strongly hate their use of slaves, which mostly include demi-humans that they conquered. They are also the reason for our bandit problems here at the north, since they attack caravans and small settlements and sell them as slaves in Prathea.

To our west there is the Theocracy of the five, which is always neutral during War time. Most kingdoms try to give offerings to the Theocracy, our kingdom included, for more blessings from the five head gods, Shang-di, Amaterasu, Bathala, Ku and Yul-ryeo. Though our the church here in Marthea is called the Church of the Twelve Gods, that is because we also believe in the other major gods that are under the five head gods.

In the east we are bordered with the Yellow Kingdom, but their people are called the Han, their kingdom was the first to form after the fall of the first empire. They hold the most land in the whole continent, and produce many goods. Though thought of as the most powerful and some may even call the kingdom intimidating, not once did the Yellow kingdom attack another since the fall of the First Empire.

And lastly we have the Lustan Kingdom to he south, they are currently at war with us. Just 20 years ago the area bordering the south was once part of the Pars, our ally, which is now reduced to a small principality that is trying to get support from other kingdoms. Only our kingdom has tried to help them.” - Captain Valen

Well I just hate Prathea even more now, and also Yellow Kingdom sounds familiar, guess something I need to look up next time I guess. The Theocracy is like the Papacy in our world, well minus the multiple gods. And the is also the Lustan kingdom to the South which has attacked our ally the kingdom of Pars.

“Thank you for information Captain, so are Lustan and Prathea considered Dark Kingdoms?”

“No, they are not, Dark kingdoms are kingdoms that borrow power from the Dark gods, most notably their use of Death Magic and Black Magic, not to be confused with Dark magic, which they primarily use. Dark magic is not looked down upon since natural light over time would remove the effects of Dark magic in the lands, Black Magic on the other hand would need Holy Magic to cleanse the area which it is used one, and Death magic is actually used as a way to offer up the souls of your enemies to the Dark gods which gives them more power with vile magic.”

So there are Dark Kingdoms here with a lot of Bad Magic. So I turn to Christa, “So miss Christa since we are currently talking about magic can you tell me more about the spell that you used earlier on me when you saw me?”

“Well… Uhmm….”-Christa

“...It’s okay Christa tell him.” -Captain Valen

“Well I actually used a skill not a spell.”-Christa

“...so what’s the difference of spells and skills?” So there was a difference between them?

“Spells and Skills have a lot of differences, Skills sometimes can actually use mana like Spells but that’s over simplifying it. Skills may use a few different catalyst to trigger, most skills will actually need the use of mana or even health at times to cause the triggering of skills. Unlike spells though, skills don’t have elements, which Christa has already told you. Most rich people and nobles would learn information like this at a young age, but since you are not actually born here we understand that you don’t know the basics. But it’s still kind of weird.” - Captain Valen

Thanks for calling me weird Captain. “The reason for that, Captain, Is because the place where I came from, actually doesn’t practice magic. We however practice Science and even a more advance version of Alchemy called Chemistry.” Well that chemistry part was true since the first Chemist were actually people who also tried to create gold from coal… I think. A lot of weird things happen at earth.

“Well I’ve never heard of a Kingdom anywhere that doesn’t practice any form of magic. Science and Alchemy though are used by all kingdoms, but I don’t know how advanced other kingdoms are. I’ve heard that the Draconic Isles are home to people who pursue Science and Alchemy, and they have made a ship that is larger than any other. Though not used for War, but for trade actually, it’s still quite intimidating some say.” - Captain Valen

Well I think that’s enough asking for now, I see that Captain Valen’s men have already settled them selves well outside the house, it’s already around 2:00 PM I think. Christa and the captain have excused themselves for now and went to meet with the soldiers. Well I better install the Solar panels for now. I took the ladder from the garage, the battery powered drill and a few screws. I test the drill if it still has power, I couldn’t see the Vampire lights on it since It’s busted lol, but I pull the trigger and it still has juice, maybe just enough for the installation. I then put all of those stuff at the back yard and take the solar panels from the Basement and I realized that I needed someone to help me carry the stuff to the roof or maybe just hold the ladder. I might as well look for someone available in the captains camp.

I walk outside the walls and I see that the captain was busy training with some of his men, others were doing stuff like setting up tents, sharpening their weapons and there was even one person that was busy shaving narrow wooden sticks, I think he’s making arrows since he also has some feathers. There were also three people tending to food, one was butchering a goat, well the goat has very large horns and tusks. I notice the man that was with Captain Valen earlier, I think he was his right hand man, he was sitting near one of the tents reading a book. He notices me, stands up and approaches.

“Hello Sir, I believe I haven’t introduced myself to you yet, I am Marshu, Vice-Captain of Northern Watch Company. I see that you seem to be looking for someone or something, might I help you?” - Vice-Captain Marshu

So he really was the 2nd in command of this company, and since he is already offering to help me I better just ask him. Well if he wouldn’t mind.

“I am Justin, you can just drop the formalities, I would actually like someone to help me… in some carpentry at the house, maybe carry a few stuff too.”

“Well since all soldiers of the Marthean Army did not only have the [Warrior] Class, but also another separate class because of Marthea’s Conscription policy, a few soldiers also have the [Builder] Class, which I myself also have. If you would like I can help you, since I’m not doing anything.” - Vice-Captain Marshu

I thank the Vice-Captain and I lead him to the back, I told him to first support the base of the ladder before I go up while carrying a solar panel and the drill. I haven’t actually though about how I can do that so I just bit down on the drill bag and placed the solar panel in between my arm pits. Since the solar panel was the flexible kind it was lighter than the bigger bulkier ones. I place them on the roof and went back down to get another solar panel, I think two solar panels are enough for the basic stuff I will use. I go back up, with the Vice-Captain following, after I reached the roof.

The Vice-Captain just looked at me while I was placing the solar panels. I’m still checking on where to install these so I can wire this faster to my stuff. I just decided to place one on each side of the slanting part of the roof. So that I can get sunlight from Sunrise to Sunset. I think that’s how these things work anyway. Then I used the Drill and made holes where I should install screws on the roof. I screw on the solar panels and viola it’s done.

Basic Installation done, New Class Acquired: Builder +200 exp New Sub-Class Acquired: Carpenter +100 exp New Skill Acquired: Lesser Construction

Nice I gained a new Class and a new Sub-Class too! And there’s also a skill. Well [Builder] looks like an important Class for me to have. I guess it will help me in the maintenance of the house when something breaks, I need to take care of the house so that the owner would not get angry with me if ever I go back. My grandmother told me when I was younger that I needed to take good care of things that are not my own, since I’m just renting this apartment it’s like I’m just borrowing the house anyways. I wonder how grandma is doing at home.

”…”

I see the VIce-Captain was eyeing the drill that I used. “Vice-Captain, this is called a power drill, it’s a drill that works using electricity, to make the drill bit turn at a high speed to make the drilling process faster.” well I think that’s enough of an explanation to the Vice-Captain.

“...that’s a nice tool to have, it can make building a house faster, but what is this electricity that you are talking about? Is it a kind of Spell?”- Vice-Captain Marshu

Since they don’t have much knowledge about electricity and other advanced sciences, I think it would be better not to tell them about things like this. I think shouldn’t have shown them how the gun works too. People with power become corrupt sometimes. Well I’ll just tell him something else well.

“... Electricity is a kind of… invention by scientist where I came from. It is used to power a lot of things, and it doesn’t require mana since it’s a product made with purely science.” Well that might be enough for the VIce-Captain.

“...Ahhh, I think I understand now. I was wondering though, Justin, do you have the [Builder] Class? It’s hard for most people to actually use tools like drills if they don’t the Class or Skills for it.”- Vice-Captain Marshu

Come to think of it, Christa said that People who have the [Warrior] Class have a hard time getting a class like [Scholar] and a sub-class like [Mage].”I actually just got the [Builder] Class after putting up these… panels, and I also received the [Carpenter] Sub-class. Is that strange?”

“Well most people would actually have classes that are actually a bit connected to each other, there are six Basic classes and in order they are, [Warrior] [Worker] [Builder] [Scholar] [Trader] [Noble]. there are also special classes that one can get when two classes are merged, example is [SpellBlade] which is special class when a [Warrior] with a [Swordsman] Sub-class also has the [Scholar] class with a [Mage] Sub-class. The reason that it is hard for someone to become a Scholar and Warrior at the same time is because of the prerequisite stats that are needed for it. The [Warrior] class would require more Strength, while to scholar class requires more Intelligence. Though some sub-classes are considered aberrant like [Archer] which is a sub-class of [Warrior] but is only gained by having 30 Agility and experience in using a bow. Though the sub-classes aren’t actually needed in the usage of weapons and magic, since even a [Farmer] has the ability to wield a spear and can also cast basic magic like [Light] which is commonly used in traveling in the dark to light the areas that are being traversed. Classes and Sub-classes just give additional bonuses to the person in the forms of titles, skills and spells. There are also times when people gain Classes from their heritage, consider a couple who both have the [Trader] class, their children would have a high chance to also recieve the [Trader] class upon reaching 10 years of age. [Nobles] children on the other hand, Naturally 100% get their [Noble] Class upon birth and are able to lose them when two people class that has a higher authority than them like [King] or [Cardinal] strip them from their, they then also loose their class as a [Noble].” - Vice-Captain Marshu

“So there are a lot of ways to gain different Classes and Sub-Classes, and there are even ways to lose them, I was wondering about the different Special classes too, what are the special classes anyway? Does it include my [Chef] Class?’

“Well the [Chef] Class is has only a low prerequisite of 5 strength and 5 intelligence, but it’s sub-classes require higher stats, an example would be [Advanced Chef] which requires 30 intelligence and 30 agility and the title that can be received from a [Noble] as proof of being an [Advanced Chef]. there is also the Special class [Land Owner] which is gained by getting a title deed from the Governor’s office in a city. This class though only gives a few minor skills like [Lesser Diplomacy]. I was thinking, do you know how to access the skills tab?” - Vice-Captain Marshu

“Well I only know how to access Status, but I don’t know how to access any other… tabs” well this is all foreign to me anyway.

“...Well you can Access the skills tab by saying Skills or just thinking about opening Skills. Try it.” - Vice-Captain Marshu

“Skills!”

SKILLS Skill name Cost Accurate Punch (Brawler) 5 health Heavy Punch(Brawler) 10 health Skimming(Book-Keeper) 0 Writing(Book-Keeper) 0 Basic Cooking(House Cook) 0 Food Preparation(House Cook) 0 Basic Construction(Carpentry) 0 Divine Language(Blessing) ???

That makes sense, most of the skills that don’t use my brawler skills won’t hurt me, Heavy punch deals 10 damage to me so that would hurt, well I did use heavy punches sometimes before, like when I knocked out my pervy manager. Cooking and those basic Knowledge skill don’t cost anything which made sense. But what’s that last one? [Divine Language], it said blessing, maybe that’s the reason I can communicate with them even though I’m from a different place and maybe even different languages. Looking back closely, I noticed that when people talked with me, their mouth movements were not similar to the words that they said. Maybe that’s an effect of the skill? Well may I will find out eventually.

“You can also see the description of a skill by thinking about the skill and say ‘info’” - Vice-Captain Marshu

I think about [Divine Language] and then say

“info.”

DIVINE LANGUAGE:

Allows the person with the Blessing to communicate with any sentient being in all of creation, can only be granted by a god of creation. does not cost any mana when using. activates immediately when someone is talking with the user.

Well that’s a convenient skill, I thank the god who gave me the skill. Maybe I can also speak to dragons and ogres!

“There is also the Spells Tab, I think you know what to do now.” -Vice-Captain Marshu

“...Spells?”

SPELLS Spell Name Cost N/A N/A
