《The Confused Explorer》Chapter 26: Burning Eyes and Disaster Strategies

Gliding through the air, the magnificent golden bird rushed forward towards its goal. The night sky with the trillions of stars lit the monstrosity that stood as its opposite. It was the hope for his master and the fear of his failure.
Turul didn't bother with any fancy plans, he was one of the strongest creatures alive after all.
Although he wouldn't be able to use the earth element without tearing down this whole mountain Turul didn't mind being constrained to only the wind element. However if he had to use the earth element he would break this area of the mountain to the ground floor.
✵
Once Turul reached a certain distance from the large beast after a very fast and somewhat long travel, he remained stationary in the air flapping repeatedly in order to remain where he was.
Slowly and before long he started pulling in the surrounding air, putting as much power as he could into it. Although this monster probably had a tough defense, it didn't seem very long ranged based since its clubs seemed to only extend so far. It also didn't seem very fast either considering how long it took it to reach this area which was only so soon due to its large stature and long leg length.
As Turul slowly pulled and rotated the surrounding cold air, there was only one thing that may be able to hurt this giant beast-a natural disaster.
The surrounding snow and ice flew around this perfect disaster, creating an almost pure white tornado. Miles around it the snow and ice shook and vibrated as it started to loosely get drawn around. Reaching the summit of the mountain in just seconds, it had plenty of room and air to grow as big as it wanted. Dangerous showers of impaling ice and clumps of tens of tons of snow the size of cars flew around quite easily. At the epicenter of this was Turul in his large sphere of wind as he pushed his upper limits of strength in order to cause this terrible scenery. It swallowed anything around it like a hungry ghoul.
Its pure strength and look brought the feeling of dread as its power easily ripped apart anything it touched. Winds of a little over 200 Mph (322 Kmh) brought anything even slightly deadly to an all new spectrum of dangerous.
For people of the modern world a tornado is very dangerous. They flip anything with even a slightly dull edge to over 100 Mph and corening all around the distance of a city. Meanwhile they do this with thousands of objects of the modern life such as billboards, tools, scraps of metal, etc. Cases of people being chopped in half aren't uncommon in even small tornados if they were just that unlucky. Natural disasters are called that because they are just that dangerous. Lives are as fickle as grass under the mower during these times. Luckily the lifespan of this natural disaster is relatively short, but what if it wasn't natural? What if it was created by a being of legendary strength putting all of their power into it, how long would that last?
It was like the blizzard down the mountain all over again. Darkness rained supreme as ice and snow whirled with the wind unceasingly. Large spikes of ice struck the ground randomly only to be pulled back up again to meet the same exact fate.

The large leviathan had already been stuck within the whirling chaos within the first few seconds of Turul starting up. Its outer shell protected it from most of the damage, however with how much force is behind every single crash it had already started to generate some dents within the armor.
Although it was tough and being able to take crashes of over 200 Mph was a feat that nothing in the modern would be able to do, it seemed slightly weak as compared to how much Turul thought the fight was going to be.
However that thought was short lived. The gears in its head seemed to finally work again as its creaking joints and heavy set armor roared out in its movements, and before anything could be registered-it all disappeared. The freakishly large tornado that wrought destruction to everything simply vanished with such a speed that calling it something akin to teleportation wasn't wrong.
The only other creature around could barely register the beasts movements. As it moved slowly something seemed to click faintly and the large club that was held like a mallet was flung forward with such speed and power the surrounding air frictioned and created heat. The nearby icy tornado was literally blown apart to such a cause that it was never there in the first place.
If Mike was around he'd known exactly what just happened. After all this creature was really similar to the mantis shrimp of his old home. The only difference was that this one was the size of a mansion and the other about the size of a little toy car. The punch of a mantis shrimp was said to be one of the fastest things alive and was only outdone by the Odontomachus, or Trap Jaw ant. The Mantis Shrimp is said to be able to break reinforced glass like a crusher, and the speed of it doing so was faster than the human eye perceiving light. And if this thing was just an oversized version of one than it was suffice to say that it breaking apart a tornado wasn't out of the realm of possibility, especially in this world.
Satisfied with the disappearance, the behemoth quited back down its movements and stood exactly as it had before as its club was being pulled back into place with a faint click.
Turul being at the center of the tornado barely managed to get out unscathed since he had put a stronger wind barrier around his body to protect from random debris and was saved from most of the damage as it was mostly absorbed by the tornado. He flapped his wings a little sluggish since he had put so much of his power into that single attack, however he wasn't done yet.
Pulling back his thought process of attack Turul assessed the next best option of attacking. Its defense seemed relatively simple as compared to its attack, however it made up for that with an overwhelming attack that vastly outstripped its level. Speed was also relatively slow for everything except its overwhelming attack speed and power, as well as its long leg length that gave it a bigger stride.
The best way Turul could beat it is with fast attacks that hit really hard in gaps of the armor, so fast that he was far away by the time the leviathan realized what was happening.
Going with the most successful attack from birds of prey, Turul clad himself in a more slim barrier of wind that created a slightly dim movement around him and sped dramatically towards the back of the monster with his black, almost invisible, claws spread out in front of him!

Turul circled around the monster and left constant gashes in the monsters armor and in between the gaps of its defense. He used wind on his claws that created deeper wounds then what was possible since they were like scratches as compared to the giant body of the beast.
It seemed quite effective as it left deep wounds that leaked colorless liquid slowly. Over time however this strategy didn't seem that effective. Although it left deep wounds they were too small to be really of bother to it.
Turul tried every effective mean he could think that could deal major damage within a short period of time without it one shotting him with its massive club that did AOE damage to the surroundings. Eventually he started throwing throwing cuts of sharp air, slamming it with pressure, hitting it all at once with sharp icicles, however none of it seemed to really bother it.
The amount of energy used in doing these things wasn't a whole lot but he did this to many times over a short period of time in means of speeding up the process. An entire 20 minutes had passed since he had done all of these things and while that may not seem like a long time compared to how much he was actually doing, it should have been stretched over the course of hours or maybe even days.
Physical stress weighed heavily on Turul's body yet he couldn't stop here, not if he ever wanted to see his master again.
He was out of options when it came to only using his physical strength and one element, he had to use both.
Breathing deeply through his large beak, Turul pulled his body back up again from his slight slouch. Burning eyes met the bleak surroundings as deep trenches and gashes filled the once pristine landscape. Not bothering at all about the damage, Turul flexed his whole bird body strongly, as if picking up something very heavy. That part of the plateau shook horribly. Large crystals dropped deeply into the snow and snow clumped together as the earthquake made the scenery vibrate incessantly.
A large and randomly moving crack appeared on the snows surface. Although it seemed small in width, its length could not be ignored for it ran for miles. A slight rise appeared between the two sides of the snow on each side of the crack as one side slowly moved over the other, and before long a wall the height of a person appeared and not only did it not stop, it kept going. It wasn't that the rising of the wall was slow, it was because it was so large that it looked slow. A large uneven wall that stretched beyond the normal range of looking towered over the stars eventually, eclipsing them.
This newly created plateau stood not to far behind the leviathan, and although the beast was far beyond the word 'large' for an animal, even by aquatic states, it still looked relatively tiny for the ice and snow wall behind it.
Heaving a deep breath, Turul switched his way of moving very slowly. As he changed his stance the plateau shook once more and noised a deep and terrible noise as it slowly toppled over onto the leviathan and the surroundings for miles. An avalanche plowed through the surroundings as ice and clean snow was swept away and buried underneath. There were no trees nor living life besides the rare plant that somehow survived out in this forsaken little world.
A tsunami of white snow and deep blue ice took the area by storm as it didn't seem to settle down at all. And only after minutes of waiting did the original space where it had started stop moving. A large crash was heard as the ground that was used landed back creating another smaller shockwave in the area, unsettling the snow again for a few more minutes before a finale rest.
Gliding down weakly, Turul surveyed the area tiredly as not to distant rumbling echoed with a bone scratching feeling. He could tell the area where the leviathan originally was since he used the wind element for protection against the snow. Walking in the bumpy and hard, crunchy snow very disorientedly Turul arrived at the area to finally dig out the animal so both him and his master could survive.
Weakness was apparent on Turul's whole body as he was racked with bone aches and muscle cramps. Pushing once more to get rid of the snow in this one tiny area, Turul moved the surrounding air to push away this snow. The creature was so large it wouldn't be a surprise that it wasn't swept away with the literal tons of snow that pounded its entire body and tried to sweep it away, and although it wouldn't be moved that far it was a different story than it being crushed under the pilling weight as it slowly settled down since the amount or area it took up was ginormous and would crush it like a hydraulic compressor does a can.
Blasts of air hit the ground at irregular intervals with it sometimes happening consecutavly and others taking upwards of minutes. The once sheen of gold that shined with the stars light now held a dark and somber luster. The digging was gruesome and although it took little time, slightly over 10 minutes, the wait was gruesome and long.
✵
Shining faintly under a multiple of stars light, it whispered to Turul to just rip it apart and eat it all.
It looked like a juicy morsel to partake in as one's hunger over grew their thoughts. Something that could satisfy your glutton. Using his sharp talons, he pierced through the shell quite easily, ripping three long holes though it.
Pulling apart the rest of the shell, he immediately gorged on it like the large beast he was. Minutes passed by with Turul not so much as breathing more than he swallowed. The half white half red inner lying meat held quite the punch of energy boosting for Turul since as the more he ate, the stronger and faster he chewed. Eventually a hole that could easily fit him was created from eating so much, and only then did he slowly calm down from his feast.
Pulling himself up confusingly and disoriented, Turul glanced in the far off direction of where Mike lied. Now was the time to finally save his master.

8 187The Draw Of The Unknown
Mia Campbell is your average introverted loner. Not exactly satisfied with her life doing pretty much nothing of import, she's also not that willing to break out and make a change. Until, without any preamble or warning, she is bestowed with a cryptic system that both grants her magical powers, and also operates on the logic of a card game. Things begin to escalate from there. **This project is a bit of an experiment! For any given chapter, Mia's 'decklist' will be built by the community, over on our Discord server. If you find this amusing, and want to participate in the discussion, as well as find the complete list of cards, you will be able to find the link to the Discord server at the end of each chapter. Discussion in the comments is also encouraged and included as well. Each chapter and/or scenario will be intentional, but the cards used will be chosen by you guys. And the draws made will be done via actual drawing of cards during the writing process, for bonus author street cred.**

Among other things, I separated it into a new book as it has elements of progressive LitRPG and a fantasy-world setting.Since I'll keep on writing The Wardens of Destiny, this will be one of my side-projects. Eventually in the future, I plan to integrate some of the protagonists in this story with the main storyline.
