《The Confused Explorer》Chapter 3: Jack In The Box?

Mike in his life couldn't count the amount of times he had ever felt both shock, fear, and strangeness all at the same time since he never had, but ever since being here he'd felt it at least half a dozen times, This time being no different.
Almost mechanically Mike sat down on the ground in front of the tree and apples staring at the screen that summed up what he just gotten was.
"An Explorer's Log?" star dazed Mike stared at the screen trying to figure out if he was either going crazy or if this was really happening to him. With a hard pinch and a small sound of pain Mike knew he wasn't dreaming this up.
"What should I do with this, if it's real?" With almost a plea in his voice Mike moved his eyes all over the screen looking for some way to interact with it.
Finally with a touch on the tab button 'Flora' Mike saw the screen change to highlight that tab, along with this there was a magnifying glass in the middle boxed area of the screen. Under the magnifying class were words that read out: "Please select the object you would like to scan and log" in cursive
white writing.
Not knowing what was really going on Mike tried to sort out all the information he had in his head to figure out what he should do, and how all of this had happened.
"Where am I? Some sort of fairy land?" All of these things and sceneries popping up around him with his thoughts made his head spin on the idea that he was so far away from everything he thought was right, and all of these things crumbled his worlds reasoning.
With a sigh escaping Mike, after a few minutes of rest he unwillingly accepted a little bit more that he was stuck in this giant fairy land, and with a look around at what he should do, he looked at the apple of which there was four with one being eaten by him, which had caused horrible pain for him for hours, and made his body feel more energized and youthful.

Grabbing this strange fruit and its smell almost making him take a bite out of it, he put it in front of the screen ready to let it scan the apple.
With the apple in front of the screen a prompt came up in front of the apple.
"Would you like to scan this item?"
[Yes]/[No]
Clicking yes the apple burst into a multitude of strange bright symbols, which made Mike jump out of fear, it started flowing into the screen where there was a progress bar showing how much longer it'd take until it was done scanning the item.
Taking what felt like ages to finish it seemed like either this thing was really slow or this apple was really good. Once finished, the screen reverted back into what it originally was but instead of the magnifying glass taking up most of the middle screen, it appeared as a small icon in the upper right corner and in the middle screen was something new, a 'log' appeared on the screen with a flashing 'New' on the very right side of it in red writing, to the very left of this red writing were words in white that said 'Jack Apple'.
Clicking this rectangular box caused the screen to showcase a picture of the apple that Mike scanned earlier along with an extensive amount of writing to the right and underneath it to showcase what it was and its effects.
--Jack Apple: A Jack Apple is a squared lightly pink colored fruit, resembling an apple in some key areas. These fruits are very volatile. The reason they have the name 'Jack Apple' is due to their nature of being random. They have and always will be random in what they do anytime, anywhere. The could become anything or do anything. An example of this is turning into a black hole and destroying the very world it is on, or it could become a treasured and valued material used in making very important items. This fruit has always been laughed at for its comical name, however any who have seen, in person, their true power will never laugh at these dangerous fruits. Any who are foolish enough to eat one are most definitely dead.

Taking a minute to process this information, Mike froze he didn't dare to toss the apple that reappeared into his lap after he clicked on the 'Jack Apple' box in fear that he might cause something that would be a faster death than blinking.
Time seemed to crawl slowly for Mike as he stared so intently at the square apple that he could burn a hole through it with a gaze of fear and trepidation.
'Thinking about it these apples hadn't done anything so far even after picking them so maybe these ones are defective' in a small whisper in his mind Mike felt an almost invisible hope wash over him.
With the smallest and, what Mike felt as, the most delicate moves he could, he moved the apple off his lap and on to the ground in front of him with the other apples.
However Fate loves to play ticks on most. The apple that had just been set down by Mike trembled. Its outer edges growing slightly bulged as it started to shake violently. The soft white leaf that adorned its top started to sparkle and fizz like a fuse as it slowly shortened under a burning fire.
Mike froze. The fight or flight mechanism in Mikes brain no longer functioned. Sometimes having too much information was the worst mistake someone could ever make. The only thing Mike could see was a looming, almost towering pink boxed shape apple as it slowly ticked away. The scenes of his life slowly played in the background.
When the square apple turned a dark crimson red and a pulse that seemed to push the area around it, Mike froze over and fainted, falling on his back with his pupils rolling up into his head. Once Mike had fainted the apple seemed to quicken its pace. Before the long the beautifully adorned leaf was gone. As it left the deep crimson bloated apple slowly stopped in its rigorous motion. As it eased down it slowly faded into a scene of beautifully white specs, flowing with the wind.
Mike fainted, not knowing that happened and still twitches, scared for his life in his sleep.
