《I Became An Adventurer》Chapter 14 - Knowledge

Damion and Tsubuki have decided to stay at Orpheus's castle! Damion hasd thought about it and Orpheus had a lot of resources he could use for himself, Tsubuki wanted to learn from Orpheus's Grimoire and Library so that she could learn different types of magic.
"Hey Damion what are you reading?" Damion and Tsubuki were both at the library in Orpheus's Castle. They had cancelled their rent in the guild but they would go their once in a while to do some quests and get some potions.
"A book about the gods and what benefits they grant to their believers." Damion worshipped, Heila the Goddess of Alknon, a god who grants overall stats to be more even but believers who work hard can acheive all high stats if they work hard enough and can use a variety of skills. There has been no record of a worshipper of Heila that got a super high all-stat in history due to all the discrimination of Heila worshippers. Heila is also known to be the most hated in the Celestial Home of the Gods, the gods did not like her for being so good at everything and they stripped her of most of her powers. Damion worshipped her as legends believe that people who can use all types of magic were blessed by Heila but most of the different followers of the other gods hated worshippers of Heila and whenever they saw one, this is why Uncle Henro said to Damion that he should use at least only two different types of magic at a time in front of other people . There were only very few who did not discriminated other worshippers of different god.
"What god do you believe in Tsubuki?"
"I don't worship any gods." Tsubuki got another book from a shelf to read.
"Why don't you? Do you despise them?" Damion was curious to know about Tsubuki's reason of not worshipping any gods
"Those gods they grant powers to good people but they grant it to bad people too. Those bad people hurt people with the blessings of gods." Tsubuki was a talented mage though some of her peers would get ahead of her with the blessings of gods, she refused to worship any gods and continued to study magic to improve herself better.

"That's true, most of the gods would grant their power as long as they worshipped them. Even if they were really evil." Damion knew few who worshipped his goddess Heila but Uncle Henro who also worshipped the same goddess was kind and helpful to others in the village, he could never turn down a call for help.
"But there must be some good gods at least." Damion put back the book about gods and went to a different part of the library.
Damion had put his skeleton smiths to work in forging new armour for the new skeletons that Damion had resurected, all the other skeletons were either training or mining in caves near the castle. All his skeletons were all above level 40 including the new skeletons from Lepan when Damion reanimated them, Damion now had an estimate force of 200 units at his side to fight for him. There were 100 warriors that could use simple magic and skills with 50 of his original skeletons that could use intermediate skills and magic, Ezra, Lepan, Leon and Ronrir were the four strongest warriors of Damion's skeletons they are all above level 70 and can use at least an advanced skill or magic. Skeletons have a system where what ever they kill the experience goes to them and their master, if they kill a monster and recieve 200exp their master will also get the same amount of experience.
"Orpheus do you have any other grimoires that you keep besides your own?" Damion wanted to study all the Grimoires he could get his hands on, he wanted to learn any magic that might be useful later on in his journey.
"Yes, I do I have a lot of them from many of my enemies and people who used to hunt me down in my younger years." Orpheus went down into the castle underground and opened a door to a room that was filled with dust, there were a few swords, grimoires and magic orbs in the room.
"I threw a lot of the other Grimoires away because I had transfered them into my grimoire. I use dark and poison magic so I kept some that weren't my type of magic as a collection." Orpheus took a book and blew the dust off, he gave it to Damion and exited the room.

"You can take everything if you like I have no use for it." Orpheus hummed a cheerful song and went up from the underground chamber.
"This will be useful, I want a better cover for my grimoire. Ah this is it!" Damion held another Grimoire that exuded power
The grimoire had a nice feel to Damion's hand, Damion went on the rest of the day reading all the grimoires Orpheus gave him and transfering the useful spells he needed. Tsubuki was doing some alchemy with all the materials Orpheus had to make better potions that could ive certain boosts to one's stats and power.
During the stay at Orpheus's castle, Damion and Tsubuki learnt a lot. Orpheus was just 300 years old, it is quite a young age for a vampire. Orpheus had met Damion's father 30 years ago when he was still a young low-ranked adventurer.
"I really liked your father, when he came near my castle he had no one else except your mother in his party. He came right up to my castle at night for shelter during winter because he was out adventuring, he really was a weird man. Your father thought I was a human and thanked me for letting him and your mother in, at first I was actually going to kill them both after they had dinner and fell asleep but they were really an interesting pair. I revealed I was a vampire to them and asked them to leave in the morning because I had taken a liking to them, it was a risk as I could have been attacked from revealing myself but your father was really calm about it." Orpheus had a long story about his encounter and how his parents became close friends with him. They had a few chuckles, it was like having a grandparent at home telling you all their stories about when they were young.
Two months had passed....
"Okay let's see our stats." Damion had finished gathering all that he needed to get stronger from Orpheus and wanted to check his Status Scroll.
[Status Scroll open]

"Its hard to level up now since i'm close to being level 100, i've killed at least 200 plus monsters in quests. I think we should head east of the continent since there is stronger monsters there." Damion and Tsubuki wanted to level up more but the monsters in Aislentor were now weaker to them since they both became above level 80 after the fight with Lepan. Now they were deciding if they should go to Khamalararian, where they would find dinosaurs and where dungeons and labryniths are commonly found.
"So you are leaving tomorrow?" Orpheus entered the room where Damion and Tsubuki were talking.
"Yes, thank you for helping us and letting us stay here. Would you really not consider coming with us?" Damion wanted Orpheus to come as he could be trusted and strong.
"No, I want to stay here for the rest of my days. I've decided long ago not to drink blood or fight anymore, it was nice of you to invite me but I must decline." Orpheus decided to not serve the demonlord because he wanted to have a peaceful life, he wanted to die peacefully with no one around.
"Then we will head out tomorrow morning." Damion and Tsubuki finally decided on what they were going to do after they left Orpheus's Castle. Damion's skeleton's had been better equip with better armour and weapons and most of them were nearing to level 50 so Damion was fully prepared to travel. Tsubuki learned a lot from the books from Orpheus's library and learnt some useful materials that could be mixed into potions for power and strength. Both of them went to sleep after they checked all their belongings for tomorrow.

The only Objective he is given is to Discover Magic as he learns to survive and live in this new world, doing the best he can to not die, or even worse. *** Hi All! This is my story, it has been brewing in my mind in various forms for years. It will be rough, this is the first story I have written in a long time, so please help me make it as great as it can be! It is a High Fantasy adventure/Isekai LitRpg, it will have action and adventure, levels and dungeons, Elves, Dwarves and Gods. It is not a Virtual Reality story, though it will touch on some topics of artificial intelligence. The core focus of the story is going to be the discovery and deep delve in the magic system and fantastical elements of the world. Mana is used so often in LitRPG's but how often is it explained what mana is, magic is used in fantasy, but how often do you understand what it feels like. Magical races like Elves, Dwarves etc. often exist in stories, but why do they exist? and what truly makes them different from Humans and from each other? What is a God and where did they come from? These are the sort of topics that I want to really dive into in this series, all through the lens of a progression focused LitRPG. Thanks for reading!
