《I Became An Adventurer》Chapter 13 - Fangs

"Hmm so you were the one who took Lepan down." The Vampire had a big grin, his fangs showed.
"No, he's actually right here." Lepan appeared from the darkness in front of his old master.
"Aha, so this was what Lepan was saying. Your a...Necromancer!" The vampire snapped his finger and pointed towards Damion.
"So what do you want from me? Dissect me, take my blood or maybe my head as a trophy, my knowledge of over 300 years!" The vampire cheerfully danced around, Damion did not expect a vampire lord to act in such a crazy way
Alvollas felt a somewhat familliar feeling from this vampire.(Demons and Vampires had a friendly relationship as both races served the Demon Lord)
Damion felt no hostility from the vampire though he had a strong aura.
"Alvollas what are you thinking right now?" Damion was still in battle position as the vampire did not seem to make any moves.
"Normally Vampires who rebel against the Demon Lord, they will lose all their possesions and servants. Master Damion, Lepan told you that he had been starving himself for a while. Wait my lord, summon me out!" Damion had summoned out Alvollas as his request.
The vampire stopped as soon as Alvollas was summoned.
"||𝙹⚍ ↸ᔑ∷ᒷ ʖᒷℸ ̣ ∷ᔑ|| ℸ ̣ ⍑ᒷ ᓭ⚍ꖎ⎓╎ᓵᒷ ⎓ᔑᒲ╎ꖎ|| ⎓𝙹∷ ᔑ ʖ∷ᔑℸ ̣!" The vampire screeched the same ancient language Alvollas spoke.(He said you dare betray the sulfice family for a brat!)
Damion and Tsubuki felt massive pressure from the vampire, though he was starved from blood you could tell that he was still powerful enough to kill Damion and Tsubuki.

Alvollas spoke back in the ancient toungue to the vampire. (He said that it was the sulfice son and the only thing that remained of their two friends)
"!¡∷𝙹⍊ᒷ ╎ℸ ̣ ∴╎ℸ ̣ ⍑ ʖꖎ𝙹𝙹↸, ℸ ̣ ⍑ᔑℸ ̣ ╎ℸ ̣ ╎ᓭ ℸ ̣ ∷⚍ᒷ" The vampire told Alvollas to prove that Damion was the decendent of the sulfice family with blood.
"Damion lower down your weapons, cut yourself give the guy some blood." Damion looked at Alvollas, he felt unsure about Alvollas's decision but he had saved him many times before so he did what he was told.
Damion took out a small cup from his magic bag and cut himself, filling half the cup. Tsubuki was on stand by if anything were to go wrong. Alvollas used telekinesis and passed the cup towards the vampire lord who took the cup and sat down on his throne. The vampire drank Damion's blood, he started to cry. Tears fell from the vampire's eyes, he had rushed towards Damion and squeezes him tight.
"Ugh your crushing me why are you hugging me?" The vampire had forgotten to hold back his strength and almost crushed Damion.
The Vampire then kneeled on one knee.
"Oh it is nice to see that my old friend's son grew up well and healthy." The vampire lord now spoke in a polite tone.
"Um, do I know you?" Both Tsubuki and Damion were confused from what was happening.
"Oh how rude of me! I am Orpheus Reyter, an old friend of your parents which I met 22 years ago. It is nice to meet you, Alvollas has informed me about your situation! I am terribly sorry about my servant attacking you." The vampire stood up and bowed to Damion once again. Alvollas explained to Damion about Orpheus's past and how his parents met him.

"So what will you do know Mister Damion?" Orpheus looked at Damion, it was already evening when all the questions had been answered. Damion had a long pause.
"I think I will stay here for now. You have plenty of magic books here, you said that you also had some furnaces and I saw many skeletons lying around the place so I guess I'll stay here." Damion decided that he could hide the place with mist and live here training his soldiers, he also wanted to forge new armour for his skeletons. Orpheus had a bunch of left over mineral ores to make armour for his army back in the past.
"Then I will stay here too, I came here for the grimoire but if you could share your magic knowledge you have then I will stay here as long as I need to." Tsubuki also wanted to stay as Orpheus had mentioned his old magic library that caught her attention.
"Okay it is decided, we will come back tomorrow morning since we have to cancel our rent at the adventurer's guild. I'll put most of my skeleton soldiers here to guard the place and train in the meantime."
Damion and Tsubuki finally went out of the castle and back to the guild, they were really exhausted from today's events. Damion was happy to gain more skeletons and meet an old friend of his parents, Tsubuki was happy she made it out alive and also gained some decent levels.
"Hey Tsubuki, thanks for helping today. Its nice knowing someone other than Alvollas is watching out for me." Damion was grateful that Tsubuki had helped today if she was not there, his skeleton soldiers would have been overpowered by the large numbers of Lepan.
"Um, no its fine. I just wanted the grimoire so you don't have to thank me." Tsubuki had a silly grin on her face while saying that. Both of them went back to the guild and rested until the morning.

The Kodoku Game
In Japanese folklore, there once existed an ancient technique among alchemists for harvesting the strongest poison known to man. A poison so vicious, so horrendous, that a single drop could incapacitate an entire nation of humans, several times over. A poison so intense that a single drop could turn the tides of a war on its head. As potent as it appeared however, this poison could be harvested from the blood of a single insect alone- an insect the alchemist’s called the ‘Kodoku’. As lucrative as was attaining this poison however, the problem lied in identifying this insect- its appearance, shape and size changed from region to region and from continent to continent. Sometimes it took the appearance of a ladybug and other times a horned-beetle. In order to determine the identity of this special insect the alchemists came up with an ingenious method. They created an impregnable jar of clay out of the best sandstone they could find and placed hundreds of different insects into the same jar. The jar was made with such great mastery that it allowed no insects to escape and allowed no objects to enter. The laws of nature dictated that the insects would remain together in the jar forever. However, it turned out that as time went on, the insects’ hunger for food and power caused them to turn against each other- one insect ate another until only one remained. This sole insect contained a poison that far surpassed that of all the others and became stronger as it ate more and more insects. The alchemists at this point had succeeded in identifying the Kodoku and could extract it’s poison as long as they continued to feed it regularly. Although this folklore ends here, the actual story does not. One day, as the alchemists cheered in joy of having identified the Kodoku they so eagerly wanted, they forgot to close the lid on the very jar that was considered to be completely impregnable. This small gap was just large enough for the Kodoku inside to crawl out. Famished from not having been fed for weeks, the Kodoku ended up eating the very alchemists that nourished its growth until not even the bones remained. Yet, the Kodoku’s hunger didn’t seem to subside in the slightest. So it traveled to the next village and began eating whatever it could find there. Its poison made it unparalleled in strength and slowly but surely it began to dwindle down the population of the entire city. Yet its hunger only continued to grow. So it traveled to the next city over and ate all it could there. Very soon, the Kodoku couldn’t find any more food to eat. There was no one left to eat and no one left to spectate. So it stood there, by itself pondering what possibly was left to eat that could satiate its hunger. But there was one thing left that Kodoku realized it had never eaten. Itself.
