《I Became An Adventurer》Chapter 6 - Victory and Defeat

A cloud of dust had covered the battle platform in the colosseum. Kita had charged at Damion and used his sword to slam down on Damion resulting in a giant cloud of debris. The crowd at the colosseum fell silent, the dust was finally settling. Kita's giant sword had been cut in half! Damion had still been standing upright with no injuries to his body. Kita was stunned by the fact that his sword was cut in half, he could not see clearly but he saw Damion cut his sword several times in a flash.
"I'm not done yet!" It seemed that Kita still had spirit in him yet. Kita's aura started growing more powerful now.
[Shadow Step Activated]
Damion was not in the mood to play around anymore, he wanted to get it over with. Kita's arms wrapped around Damion like iron chains, Damion was actually unable to move.
"How's this for you?" Kita had jumped several metres into the air and dived down head first with Damion.
[Iron Skin activated]
Damion activated his iron skin to protect him from the fall, by now Kita would have been exhausted.
"I won't admit defeat just yet." Kita raised his half broken sword at Damion and charged one last time.
"Ack- gah!" Kita spitted out blood before falling before Damion, he had exceeded his limit and could not hold any longer. Kita was defeated.
"What a match it seems that we have a winner!" The whole crowd was going wild to see such an amazing first match . The announcer had declared Damion the winner while Kita had been taken by the healing mages to be healed.
"Whoo, what a fight!" Alvollas seen everything within Damion so it was like a front row seat.
"I was lucky that he came at me, I was able to concentrate all my agility and strength to cut him and his sword." Damion shrugged the victory as a lucky win to Alvollas. Damion opened his status scroll again.

[Status Scroll open]
Class: None Level:41 Magic Affinity: All-rounder Vitality: 72 Strength: 75 Agility: 78 Defense: 74 Magic: 73 Skills: Heightened sense, Iron skin, Shadow step, Greater strength, Concealment Magic Skills: Heal, Fireball, Elemental Enchantment Special Skills: Poison Strike, Appraise, Telekinesis, Mind-read, Telepathy Familiar: Alvollas (Mind Demon)
"Hmm, 10 levels. If I can get stronger I could become a stronger necromancer later on." Damion looked satisfied with the amount of experience he earned. The competiton would be eaiser now that the toughest opponent is done but Damion could not put his guard down just yet, he still had a few more opponents to beat until getting the gold rank. His muscles were warmed up thanks to Kita's constant attacks.
Dacian Evren / Tsubuki Fuka-----
"Ahh~ I feel so warmed up now!" Damion stretched his arms and looked at the competiton board.
"Tsubuki Fuka, my next opponent. I guess i'll find her and use appraise to see her level." Damion felt tired but he needed to see who he was up against.
"Ok, that might be him. Appraisel!" Damion looked for someone who looked like a Tsubuki then used Apprasiel
[Appraisel activated]
[Tsubuki Fuka: Level 20 Class Magician]
A girl with short hair, quite tall for a girl. She looks pretty and exudes a mature and serious aura.
"Holy shit this is a bad match-up for her." Alvollas looking at the appraisel from Damion's eyes.
"Maybe I could ask her to teach me some basic magic from her grimoire if I win" Damion wanted more magic spells even if it was basic spells.
Damion had finally settled in a nice corner in the waiting room while waiting for his next match. Kita had been healed from his injuries but he was still unconsious
An hour later...
[Calling for Dacian Evren and Tsubuki Fuka, your match is starting in 5 minutes] The magical orb from the top of the waiting room sounded.

Damion did not really sleep but just sat down meditating, regulating his breathing to relax his body. Damion was ready for his next match, he did not know what to expect from a low-level magician but he had prepared many scenarios of how the battle would take place.
"The battle between Dacian Evren and Tsubuki Fuka will now begin." The crowd was excited to see what Damion would do as they like what happened in his first match.
Damion needed to move first as he could not let Tsubuki chant her magic and using concealment could be seen through easily by a magician.
[Shadow Step-]
"Roaring Fire Dragon!" Tsubuki was faster in chant than expected. A flame shaped like a dragon burst from Tsubuki's staff. Damion almost had no time to react.
There had been a magic barrier for the colosseum to prevent any of the spectators from getting hurt so the whole barrier was engulfed by flames.
[Iron Skin activated]
[Elemental Enchant: Fire resistantance armour activated]
"Well i'll be damned, who would have thought that a level 20 mage would be so powerful." Damion's armour was a bit burnt thanks to Tsubuki's magic. Tsubuki chanted non-stop fire magic of different spells at Damion.
"Alvollas, is there a way to fake one's level with magic?" Damion asked Alvollas while dodging from Tsubuki's continous fire attacks.
"There is such magic but I do not think this girl is using that magic." Alvollas quickly responded to his master.
"Then she must be a special magician. More powerful than others even with such low level magic." Damion was still running around and dodging Tsubuki's attacks. Damion was thinking if he should approach her after the whole competiton was over, it was still early afternoon so the competiton would end near late afternoon. Damion thought maybe she could have use for him for magic spells.
"Roaring Fire Dragon!" Tsubuki casted another powerful spell to Damion who this time was expecting anything to happen and dodged it.
[Shadow Step activated]
Damion finally closed distance with Tsubuki and used an arm lock on her. Tsubuki felt extreme pain on her arm and put up a give up sign with her other hand.
"Tsubuki has given up, the winner is Dacian Evren." The crowd went wild once more for Damion's spectacular battle.
As Tsubuki got up and the healing mages got to her, Damion pointed to her.
"You. Meet me after this competiton is done." Damion looked at her with an icy glare. Tsubuki looked at Damion with a blushed face and nodded. Tsubuki also wanted to meet with Damion as she had never been so overwhelmed by an opponent before. The only thing that caught Damion off-guard was the advanced fire spell but after that it was easy to dodge the rest of the attacks, so you could say that it was an easy win for Damion.
"My status scroll did not even alert me about anything I guess levels are still levels after all, even if that level 15 has such magic power." Damion let out a sigh as he did not level up as he hoped.
Damion still had like 4 opponent but now he was pretty sure after Kita and Tsubuki there would be no more surprises of strong opponents. Damion wanted the ranking competition to be end quickly so he could find a quest with undead, he squinted his eyes then went to rest again in the cornor of the waiting room
Meanwhile in the Tabark ruins....
"Come forth my minions you shall help with my quest." A chilling voice came from the ruins surrounded by graves and mist.

Twoen
The struggle for an interesting game has been the story of my life for quite some time. Every game I find is either too easy, not interesting or too short. Luckily, my two brothers who match my level of skill, albeit in different areas, tend to spice things up. When I look at my older brother I have no idea how he gets anything done when he's such an idiot. Still it doesn't detract from my respect for him as a gamer, though maybe a little. When I look at my younger brother I marvel at the monster that my older brother and I created. Deadliness, craftiness and quiet, both in what he does and how he is. When it's just us three we tend to destory everything in our path. So normally we tend to compete rather than team. Although that isn't to say we're just good as individuals. When we work together our effectiveness multiplies rather than lowering. Well enough about us dorks. Anyway a new VR game came out, apparently in development for quite some time. Of course my older brother decided to drive out and buy three copies. What would this one be missing? Difficulty? Depth? Length? In any case I plan to reach the top before my brothers do. It was a competition after all. Twoen had all three things I normally yearn for in spades. Something I did not foresee. A keeper
