《World Jumper》Chapter 19

There was a breeze blowing on Jet's face. It had a bite of cold to it. Since he had come to this world, it had always been hot but not too hot. He had found out there was a winter in this world, but it only lasted a few months.
"Jet." He heard a sweet voice call.
He tried to open his eyes but couldn't. His body felt heavy. Then a soft hand interlocked with his. It was warm and smooth to the touch. A warm wet rag was used to wash his face. Once his eyes were washed, he tried to open them again. As they started to open, he focused on the face in front of him. It was Ileana with her long blonde hair that shimmered in the sunlight. Her platinum eyes also looked like they were sparkling from her, trying to hold back tears. He could see she was happy to see him wake up.
Jet had never realized how beautiful Ileana was. With her tiny, fragile-looking chin and her slightly pointed nose. Then his eyes went to her lips.
He could feel the air from her breathing through her mouth and slightly quivering. Her lips were slightly pink with some lipstick and a fragrance he had never smelled before. His eyes went wide when he realized she was getting closer. All his body would do as he tried to stop her was twitch. She had her eyes closed as she leaned down and kissed him.
He had prepared for the magic rejection, and pain shot through his body. Ileana's lips were soft on his. He could taste her lipstick. Her hair tickled as the wind brushed it against his face. She opened her eyes and slowly pulled away.
Ileana sighed and muttered. "Guess you really are connected to somebody already.
The door opened, and Roan walked in. "Is he up and talking yet?"
Ileana sat back up slowly and looked towards Roan. "His eyes are open, but if he is trying to speak, I can't hear him." She managed to make her kiss look like she was trying to hear him.
Roan walked over and looked at Jet. "Well, Graham did say the idiot almost killed himself." Roan picked up Jet's right hand and looked at it. "I would like to know how he healed your hand."
They both noticed Jet looking at Ileana. "Right, I was in the middle of telling you what happened to Graham." She knew that wasn't why he was staring at her, or more like glaring at her.But she wasn't about to tell Roan she had kissed Jet.
"Not much to tell. After Graham healed you, he forfeited the match. Then took his second-place reward and left." Roan said, still admiring Graham's healing ability.
"No, there was more. Graham said to give Jet a message when he woke up. Life can be cruel. The best we all can do is keep walking forward. I was there when he said that, and he had a sad look in his eyes." Ileana said.
"Well, that is just life." Roan looked at Ileana.
After the talk, both Ileana and Roan left him to rest. Jet didn't want to be alone. What Graham had said proved he had come from earth, but how had he known about his past. The way Graham had acted like Jet had been world-famous. It made no sense. Before he could get more thinking done, he fell asleep.

Jet woke up sometime in the night. The first thing he did was check if he could move. His body seemed to work now. So he got up and dressed, then went out for a walk. He decided he needed a walk to help him think.
As he walked into town, he noticed a guard following him. He just ignored him and kept walking. The breeze was quite chilly. It was normal here for it to get cold over a few days. What he thought was interesting was the fact you couldn't see your breath. No matter how cold water got, it didn't freeze, and no matter how hot the water reached, it didn't boil.
After a few more minutes, Jet came to a bridge. He walked halfway across and leaned on the stone railing. Looking down at the water, he could see the three moon's reflections. Then looked up at the moons and the stars. They were so different from the ones on earth. Jet had tried to find some of earth's constellations, but he never did find one, not that he was an expert.
The guard that had followed him and stood beside him. Jet turned to the guard, who had a coat in his hands. He gladly took it and put it on."Thank you."
The guard leaned on the railing too. "You are welcome. My name is Jace." Jace said.
"The names Jet." Jet put out his hand to shake Jace's.
Jace broke out laughing. "I think everyone knows you, Jetsford."
"Apparently, I'm world-famous." Jet mumbled.
Jace looked over at Jet. "Sorry, I didn't quite hear that."
"It's nothing." Jet said.
They both stood there in silence for a while before Jace broke the silence. "Can I ask you something?"
"Sure." Jet's curiosity peaked.
"How can you do magic without casting?" Jace asked.
Jet smiled at the question. "It's not a secret. They got books on it."
"I know, but after watching your fight. You make it look easy." Jace sighed.
"Ok, cast a spell, but stop before you cast." Jet watched him with his magic sense. He watched as Jace's magic flowed to his hand. "Again." Jet put a finger on Jace's spine where the magic started. As Jace chanted, Jet moved his finger, following the magic. "Do you feel your magic flow there when you cast?"
Jace kept starting to cast and stopping a few more times. "I feel something, I think."
"Ok, now try to replicate the feeling without the words." Jet said.
He just stared at Jet. Then he shrugged and kept repeating his spell and trying to get a feel for his magic. Jet figured since his magic is far more potent than Jace's, that it made it easier for him.
After a few minutes, Jace stopped, and Jet figured he gave up. Then he glanced at Jace and realized he had magic flowing without casting. It didn't get far, but it visibly moved to Jet's magic sense.
Jet grinned. "Looks like you are onto something."
"It's odd, but I can just feel it move." Jace had a wide grin on his face.

"I can confirm that your magic is moving. Just keep practicing and join the next tournament competition." Jet thought maybe he should try teaching.
Jace started laughing and clutching his chest. "And face you or possibly that Graham. I don't think I will catch up to you guys. You two are true monsters."
Jet cocked his head. "Monsters, huh. Sounds fitting."
"Wait, I didn't mean it like that." Jace said quickly, waving his hands.
Jet just smiled. He had been in this world less than a year. Look how far he had come, with only ten percent of his strength. "I really do like it here."
Jet shielded his eyes as the blue sun started to rise in the sky. He opened his eyes a slit, looking at the castle with the blue sun behind it. It looked beautiful, almost as if it were on fire. Since he had come to this world. Fire looked nice to him.
"Well, guess I should head back to the castle." Jet looked over to Jace, who had been practicing again.
"Yeah, Dolly would take a piece of my hide if she found out I let you wander around." Jace said with a shiver.
Jet just laughed then headed towards the castle. Then a thought crossed his mind and stopped him dead in his tracks. "What happened to the gear I had in my matches?" Remembering his sword had been destroyed by Graham.
"I think all your gear was destroyed when you fought Graham." Jace said.
"I know about the sword. What about my leather armor?" Jet asked.
"Pretty sure it fell apart when they removed it from you." Jace said, rubbing his chin in thought.
"I can't return the gear now. Could've got some of my gold back." Jet said glumly.
Jace put a hand on Jet's shoulder. "I think you can afford it. After all, you get the gold from the competition."
"I could've afforded it already. It's just. Now I got nothing for that gold." Jet had planned on buying the gear. He didn't need it anymore. It's not like he would go to the next competition.
He turned down a street and headed towards Tom's shop. It wasn't far from where they were at. So he would go by and tell him he would come by later with the gold.
"Jet, this isn't the way back to the castle." Jace pointed out.
"Need to make a quick stop first." Jet said.
He turned the last corner then came to a stop. Jet stared at the old smithy. The sign and building looked different. The place looked like it hadn't been touched in years. The glass in the windows was all broken, and the sign said Reg's smithy.
"Hey Jet, the smiths are over a few more blocks." Jace thought Jet got turned around.
"No, this was the place I went, but it said Tom's smithy and tannery. Tom and Tony were running the place." Jet said.
"Couldn't be. This side of town is up for remodeling next year. It's the outdated part of town. Most buildings here have been condemned." Jace explained.
Jet walked up the stairs to the door. He tried to open it, but it was stuck. After pulling harder, it come open only one of the hinges still worked. After entering, Jet could tell the shop hadn't been used in years. There were layers of dust on everything.
Jace walked in behind Jet. "Hey, we shouldn't be wandering around in these old buildings. Some are on the verge of collapse." Jace went silent when he saw what Jet was looking at.
The table had a note on it, and something wrapped up underneath it. On the note, it had in wide letters. Jetsford H Gardner. 'They know my name. Who are Tom and Tony?' Jet thought to himself.
"What does the note say?" Jet jumped slightly when Jace spoke. He hadn't realized Jace had got so close.
"You can't read?" Jet asked.
"Hah, like my family has enough gold for a teacher, and I'm not about to serve a noble to learn." Jace said, then his eyes went wide after what he said. Realizing Jet is sort of a noble.
Jet was going to try to play a noble at the comment, but he broke out laughing. The look of horror on Jace's face was too much. After Jet calmed down a little, he spoke. "I'm not a noble, but try to watch what you say. I am, after all, friends with the royal family."
"Yes, sir." Jace slightly bowed to Jet.
'Really, I just said I'm not a noble.' He decided to ignore Jace and opened the letter.
To Jetsford H Gardner do to unfortunate circumstances, my shop didn't work out. I leave this sword to you. This sword is my masterpiece. There is also a bow and a butcher's cleaver. Side note Aaron says don't cut yourself.
'Who is Aaron?' Jet put the letter down and untied the wrap around the sword. The sword looked immaculate, like nothing he had seen. The sword pommel had a dark sapphire with gold trim around it. As for the grip, it had some black leather-wrapped tightly around it. Crossguard and rain guard were also made of gold. The scabbard looked blood red, and the locket and chape were gold. Jet pulled the sword from the scabbard. The blade looked dark and had designs all the way to the point of the blade. Near the rain-guard had a flat spot with World Breaker written on it.
He put his finger to the blade and cut himself. A drop of blood fell on the letter, and it glowed. Jet looked down at the letter and watched words form.
I did warn you. From Aaron. Side note: Tom thought you would recognize my name and called me Tony.
Jet thought back, and was sure he didn't know an Aaron. 'Yet another person that knows me, that I have no clue who are.'
