《World Jumper》Chapter 7

The door to Jet's room flew open, and Rick came with a wide grin on his face. Of course, after hearing Ileana's story, who wouldn't. The girl hadn't changed even after the five years he was gone.

"Jet, are you talking to yourself?" Rick asked. He was sure he heard Jet talking.

"I was craving intelligent conversation." Jet said.

Rick just stared at him. Maybe Jet needed another visit from the healer. He decided to drop it. Jet looked fine.

"Well, enough about that. You need to get ready for dinner. Come on in." Rick said, and a handful of servants came in. "These women are here to get you ready."

Thoughts of what just happened went through Jet's mind. He was not about to let these servants have their way.

"Rick, I can get ready myself." Jet said with a horrible feeling in his gut.

"You are about to dine with his majesty, the king. I suggest you let them get you ready. Also, they will teach you a few things. Have fun." Rick said as he walked out of the room and shut the door.

Jet wasn't talking now. That was the most embarrassing hour of his life. They made the clothes around him on the spot. They seemed to like blue. The gold-threaded design of a creature. Jet decided he would look it up later. Then Jet had a thought, could he read in this world. Jet spoke their language, so maybe he could.

"Ok, you are all done now. Go ahead and take a look in the mirror." The servant said.

When he looked in the mirror, his mouth dropped open. He looked nothing like what he did an hour ago. His hair was cut short and combed up with a few spiky spots. With blue pants with a blue coat over a white undershirt. The coat had a symbol on it, but he wasn't sure of what.

The servant walked over and put a cape on him. She gently clasped it to spots on the coat. The cape was white underneath and blue on the back with the crest in the middle. It also had gold-threaded designs around the edges.

"Tried to comb your hair, but it wouldn't stay combed. It's not a surprise, though. His majesties has a mind of its own too. Now before I let you go. Do I need to go over anything with you?" She said.

Jet had been getting educated in proper manners. Dinner with a king, why would the king want to see him. When he saw Rick again, Jet was going to get answers. But for now, he guessed he would just go with it.

"No, I think I got it. Thank you for all your help." Jet said, giving a smile that he thought he would never do again. It was strange he felt so much more alive now.

"Well, then I shall be off then. She will bring you to the dining hall." The servant said, pointing at a young girl.

Jet watched as the others all left the room. Now he was feeling nervous. So much was happening to him. If only it would slow down.

"Don't stress so much. You may pass out. After all, you are still injured." She said, setting a hand on his shoulder.

"Ok. I will calm down. When will we be leaving?" Jet asked.

She grabbed his hand and brought him to a chair to sit. "We have ten minutes. Sit, and let's just chat for a bit."

Jet went ahead and sat down. He could use a rest. The servant was just standing there, smiling while holding her hands in front of herself. She had brown hair that went to her thighs. Her eyes were deep green, and a small nose with a cute face. He took a look around. There wasn't another chair. She must have caught onto what he was looking for, then the servant walked over to a closet and got a stool. She set it down and sat.

"What is your name?" Jet asked. He was getting tired of just thinking of them as servants.

"Relo," Relo said.

"Huh, that's the weirdest name I've heard yet." Jet said without thinking.

"Oh, and Jetsford isn't a weird name," Relo said, mocking him.

No, he ultimately agreed his name was weird. He asked his parents once, and the answer was they wanted to name him after their favorite things. His father loved his Ford pickup, and his mother liked the New York Jets. They just put them together. However, that would be difficult to explain to her.

"Guess our parents are just no good at naming." He said with a grin.

"Nope, just yours. I am named after a queen from one hundred and fifty years ago." Relo said.

"Ok, change of subject. Why am I dining with the king?" Jet asked out of curiosity.

"Master Rick hasn't told you anything?" Relo asked, confused.

"He just told me I am dining with the king. Then had all of you get me ready." Jet answered.

"I see." She sighed before going into an explanation. "Master Rick is his majesty's brother."

"He had never told me." Jet said.

"Not surprising, master Rick, well, if you want to know, ask him. It's not my place to say what happened." Relo said with a look of sadness in her eyes.

'Great, another thing I will think about. I got many questions for Rick now.' Jet heard a bell and looked outside, he was curious what it was for, but Relo got up.

"It is time for dinner. Let us be off." Relo said.

Relo took him out of the room and down a few hallways. Well, they were walking, he looked at the paintings. None were of people, just mountains and other areas. Then he saw one it was of the creature on the crest. As he was about to ask, a hand grabbed him.

"Hi again. You look dashing. Relo, I will take him from here." Ileana said. At the same time, she was putting her arm around his.

She started walking off with Jet. He was lost now. Who was this girl? Now she had her hair done in a long single ponytail. Her dress was blue and white, with the same crest. She had a necklace around her neck. He had to admit she was quite pretty.

"Who are you?" Jet asked. This girl couldn't be a servant.

"Oh, right, my name is Ileana. I am the second princess." She said. At the same time, she was giving him a million-dollar smile.

Jet stopped dead in his tracks, a princess, what was going on here.

"Sorry, but no stopping. I don't want to be late for dinner. Father can't wait to meet you." Ileana said. She was dragging him along.

The girl is strong, Jet admitted. They sped walked down several corridors. He had seen quite a few guards along the way. Some of them looked ready to attack him. Finally, giving up, he sped up to walk beside her. They stopped abruptly outside some twin doors. Then Ileana turned to him and started making sure he was presentable.

"Father is stringent. Need to make sure nothing is out of place." She said while smoothing out some wrinkles on his clothes, then checked herself over.

Then the guards opened the door. Ileana put her hands behind her back, then walked in with grace Jet couldn't have copied. He then started to walk stiffly.

"Good luck in there. You will need it." One guard whispered as they shut the door.

Jet took a quick look around. Weapons and animal heads were lining the walls. So the king must like to hunt. However, it felt like the dead animals were staring at him. The back wall had a giant window with stained glass, the same creature as the crest, in the room's center. He saw a table with people around it. Rick was one of them, and a woman sat to his right. Across from Rick sat Ileana and another woman. There were three empty seats, one to the left of Rick and one at the end of the table with the right of it empty. He figured the one on end was the kings. So he went to sit next to Rick.

Jet was about to ask Rick what to do, but a man from a side door came in.

"His majesty king Garent Windscar." The man announced.

A man walked in, and Jet knew this was going to go poorly. He had a gold crown on with so many jewels. The man looked ridiculous. His hair and eyes were platinum. His face was ice cold. The clothes he wore were the same blue and white. Except for the jewels lining them, too, the cape was long enough three feet of it dragged along the floor. The sword at his waist also had a jewel on the handle, and the handle itself looked like it was made of gold. The sheath also had gems lining it all the way down.

Jet just watched, trying not to stare just in case that was impolite. As soon as the king got to his chair, he sat down. Everyone else did after he sat entirely down. So Jet started to sit down too. That's when it all went wrong. As Jet sat, his cape got caught while he sat. It was making his chair slide out from under him. Jet fell to the ground hitting his shoulder. It took all he had not to cry out in pain. He quickly climbed to his feet, grabbed his chair, and sat down. Everyone was staring at him. A glimpse of the king's face sent shivers through his body.

"I apologize, your majesty. My disciple is a common-born. I shall give him a suitable punishment tonight. For his manners." Rick said, slightly bowing to the king.

The king didn't say anything, just snapped his fingers. The servants brought out plates of food for everyone. Then filled all the glasses with wine.

After they all started to eat, Jet tried to relax. He just had to fall in front of the king. Ok, he would just try to live through dinner. As he reached down for a fork, there were four of them. There were four forks with a spoon in the middle. 'Really, which one do I use there all the same fucking size.' Jet thought. So he grabbed the closest to the plate.

Jet started to eat. The food was fantastic. He, however, was eating with as many manners as he could muster. Then he realized everyone was staring at him again. Now, what had he done.

"I apologize once again, your majesty. I will see to it that Jetsford gets a proper education." Rick said, bowing even lower this time.

"See that you do," Garent said with a look of disgust on his face.

A servant walked in, taking Jets fork. She then replaced it then whispered in his ear. "Start from outside with the silverware."

Jet knew he was flushing. This is insane. The servants hadn't prepared him for this. Then a thought occurred to him. 'Why didn't I just look which fork they had used.'

"Father, will Charten be joining us." The woman on the right of Rick asked.

"I fear not. Charten is rounding up the last of the bandits for their execution." Garent said while making a slashing motion on his throat.

Jet wondered if the bandits were the same they got attacked by. However, he was not going to speak and make a fool of himself. Then after a while, they were staring at him again. Now, what had he done. He looked around and noticed all of their forks were in the middle of their plates. Their plates were half full, and he was nearly done with his plate.

Jet set the fork down on his plate and watched as the servants took off with them. Then the servants brought out a salad.

As he ate the salad wishing, this world had ranch dressing. Nobody was talking, except for the question about Charten. After a while, they put down their forks for the next serving. 'Such a waste of food. Guess nobility is the same in every world.'

They brought out a bowl of soup. The smell the food gave off made Jets mouth water. He took a spoon full of the broth first. It was delicious. Whoever cooked this soup put everyone he knew that cooked to shame. It had potatoes, carrots, meat, onions, and an eyeball. Jet jumped at that last one. It fell off his spoon and rolled past Rick. Jet watched in horror as it fell into the lap of the woman next to Rick.

She jumped off her chair, wiping the eye off her dress screaming. "Eww, eww, eww."

Jet was so dead. He could feel his face drain of blood. He looked up. The king's face said it all. The king was most likely going to have him executed for this.

Ileana broke out into laughter. Jet turned to her and thought. 'It's her fault I'm going to die.' Then he heard something towards the king. The man was trying to keep a straight face, but Garent just broke out laughing with Ileana.
