《Spatial storage of all things ( Dropped )》Chapter 43: space cloak

With his eyes closed, Luke focused on the space waves that were around him, shaping the outline of his body. As he couldn't see space waves inside a body or object, it was very easy to observe those directly outside. He tried to combine the space waves just like the teleportation had done, but the goal was entirely different.
Instead of combining them to make them explode, he tried to combine and compress the space waves around his arms at first to create another skin. As he did, his mana reserves were quickly dropping but he still continued. After combining seven space waves, Luke tried to touch them as he wanted to see the effect.
For him, there were two possibilities. The first was that the combined space waves would become tangible and be like a wall. The second was that they would remain intangible and do nothing, which meant that this attempt would be a failure.
In the beginning, he also considered a third possibility which was that as they remained intangible, the space waves would sort of teleport the attacks to the other side of the cloak, making him invulnerable. But this possibility couldn't be possible as he would need to connect the cloak from the two sides of his body. Knowing that he couldn't see, much less act on the space waves inside his body, Luke gave up on it, for the time being...
Getting back to the matter at hand, when he touched the compressed wave, Luke felt like he touched nothing, this attempt was a failure. Sighing in resignation, he was about to stop trying this method when he felt that his hand was faintly repelled. Overjoyed, Luke burst in a fit of classical villain laughter thinking of how he will bully Lion with it.
Stopping his laughing fit, Luke consumed a few mana replenish and tried again, this time, combining the most space waves he could. When his mana emptied, he had combined 83 space waves and when he tried to touch his arm, he had to use all his strength to succeed.

' Good, now all I need to do is reduce the cost. Afterward, I will keep adding space waves while still reducing the cost. I hope I will be able to combine 200. This should be enough to be recognized as a tier 3 spell. '
For the next three days, Luke put all his mind on this task and was finally rewarded on the eve of the squad mission. * Congratulations on creating a new spell. 4000 PTS are awarded. Please name it. *
Smiling, he replied ' space cloak, show me its description '
* Space cloak tier three:
A compressed combination of 200 space waves that act like a cloak, surrounding the user's body. Strongly repels anything that tries to come into contact with the user's body. Cost: 200 mana/min. *
The pride Luke felt by finally creating a tier-three spell of the space element and that this spell isn't even reliant on his ability was something to behold. Even though he was just copy-pasting Lion in a way, this didn't reduce the pride he felt. After all, if humans didn't use what was already at hand but instead always searched for an impractical and bothersome way, then the twenty-first century would still be considered part of the middle ages.
Anyway, the intricacies of his new spell were that even though it was still intangible, the compressed waves was too thick to be tread. It was like compressing a few hundred pieces of paper. One could be cut through as easily as breathing while the hundreds would be harder than rocks.
Finished with creating his defensive spell, Luke stood up and got out of his house to regroup with the others. As the squad mission would be the next day, they needed to talk about it.
Going to the monolith, which became the official gathering spot, Luke saw that he was once again the last to come. Looking at his ever shining violet eyes, Milfa said " The more I see them, the more I think they suit you. "

"... Thanks, I guess... anyway, do you have any idea on how the squad missions would generally come to pass? "
Lou then stood up and replied " Yeah, my informants said that the squad missions mostly consist of teams going to the battlefield with other teams and the army. We will be given a goal and will have the whole week to accomplish it. Afterward, if we still have time we can either stay on the battlefield for more points or choose to go back and rest. As it's a squad mission, we are stuck together, which means that no one can choose to go back if the majority wants to stay. "
THen Milfa also stood up and stated " Ignoring Lou's attempt to sound mysterious, everything he said is quite right but incomplete. Most of the times, teams from the ECG will have to join a squadron, hence the name. Also, if and when we finish in advance, the rewards don't come from our systems but from the leader of the squadron we joined. "
" Isn't that quite bad? What if he just hates our guts? "
" That possibility, in addition to being low, is irrelevant. Who would dare to antagonize future tier 6? At least not these Squadron leaders as they themselves only are tier 5 max. "
Nodding with a pensive look, Luke replied " I see, then I will go back first, I'm tired. " With that, he began to leave.
Seeing that, Abacus said " You know, you can stay more than five minutes with us, we don't stink. " The others just shook their heads while Ozz also began leaving. It seemed like he took Luke as his role model.
Turning around, Luke got to Abacus and put his hand on his shoulder " I'm tired " and left. If he didn't talk, perhaps Abacus wouldn't have become an extra life. Perhaps.

BODY&SHADOW
AN ILLUSTRATED NOVEL • UPDATES TUESDAY AND FRIDAY In a time before living memory, the King Dragon of the Void watched the world and realized there was a crack. He realized that humanity was destroying the rock upon which they lived; they leaked life’s code into the churning chaos. At first the change was imperceptible: nanites overtook microorganisms, bacteria, viruses, amoebas. Insects became increasingly inorganic; birds and lizards followed soon after. Even humans were infected by their own advances, cell by cell, till there was not a person left on earth who wasn’t at least part synthetic, the product of a prior generation’s carelessness. The world’s population was ravaged by mechanical viruses with no vaccines; they were mercilessly overtaken by bacteria that knew no death. Soon, most of the planet was empty and only a handful remained who remembered the hedonist realm they came from; only a few were left who remembered what the world looked like when their buildings touched the sky. The King Dragon of the Void watched the rock turn. He watched humans cower as the Old World fell down around them; watched their great monuments crumble into dusty ruins; watched their codes become precious, ancient gem memories forged under the crushing pressure of so many fallen stones. The world has spun many times around the sun since chaos swallowed man whole. It is a simpler time than the one that died out, but the people now are not immune to the folly of the people before. There is old code everywhere: in the water, in the air, in the trees. The heart of man has been replaced by power cores, many of which are hard-coded with preternatural abilities—when they die, an esoteric mountain sect collects their cores and stores them in their hollow mountain home to preserve the sanctity and dignity of human death. They’ve learned to harness artifacts of the old world, gemstones full of codes their nanite infused bodies can parse as spells imbuing their users with great power; they inlay them into their bodies, into their skins, connected to their cores by copper conduit and gold tracers; they dress themselves in tattoos to advertise their prowess; they battle for relics in arenas, fight for them in the open world wherever they are found. The King Dragon of the Void watches the rock turn and wonders: when will this hunger finally make the rock stop spinning? WELCOME TO FANXING CITY … Twenty-five years ago, Fanxing City and the surrounding lands were commanded by the mad King Zao Beiguan. For many years, the King hoarded wealth, artifacts, food; he demanded tribute from a people already taxed to the edges of their existence and expected they be happy with their circumstances. Noncompliance was often punished harshly, bodies displayed proudly on Fanxing’s streets as a warning, from the city gates to the Zao palace’s golden doors. The youths of several prominent clans came together to overthrow the tyrant and made names for themselves as legendary heroes across the land: Tian, Ren, Feng, Gui, Ma, and Zhenxi. Even wanderers from the Luanshi sect descended from Yunji mountain to aid the rebellion. When the dust settled after three years, Tian Yunyong ascended the throne of Fanxing and swore to honour his slain father’s memory, and has maintained Fanxing’s peace with generosity and mercy where fear and cruelty once reigned.
