《How to become a Demon Lord》Prolog The Death of Ragen

Prolog
It was raining. Ragen stood outside of his house. There was still the smell of smoke in the air and some firefighters ran around. He had lost everything. His beautiful wife, his three kids, his house, his loyal dog just everything. He was working all day as a salarymen when the police called him. They told him it was just bad luck. The old house had rusty gaspipes. Nobody in the house noticed the gas and the tragedy tokk its way. Killing all of them. Now he was waiting. He didn’t know on what but he was waiting. Perhaps to wake up and realise it was all a nightmare or just to die and be again together with his family, but nothing happened. It was just raining.
One year later.
He walked out of a bar totally drunk. This world was too cruel for him. He had no family. After his loss he started to drink like a crazy man, but there was no end to his nightmares. His kids called him in his dreams to help them. His wife stood there on the other side of a river. She always smiled in his dreams until the flames came. The flames burned her body until there just an empty skull left who grinned at him, who mocked him. So he stopped sleeping and drunk alcohol. As much alcohol as one can buy. He drank all day. After a while friends and relatives stopped visiting him and he lost his job. They told him to forget this incident. To forget everything. HOW COULD HE EVER FORGET? He shouted this question at his boss. That was the end of his career. Now he stands in again in the rain. Looking into the night and drinking out of his bottle of vodka. There was no tomorrow for him. He looked down and up. Under him the lights of the city above him the darkness of the sky. He shouted: “If god exists than he is a cruel bastard”.

His mobilephone vibrated. A new message. Out of a long reflexe he looks at the screen. It was a message from a person called L. He never heard of a person named L. The message said: Hello pal, if you really hate god, than write your name and your wish back. I will hear it and you shall have a second chance.
He hesitated. A second chance for him? There was no way that this message was real. Perhaps some kind of advertisement. But what matters, he had already lost everything. He wrote his name back but didn’t write back his wish. He didn’t know what to wish. He started to think, he wanted his family back and his life in the society. But was that really possible. As he was thinking, another message came in. [Now and only now is the limited time to buy the new Elder Wizard War 3] He sighed and whispered: “I wish my life would be a game like this, then I just could level up and revive my family. Everything would be easily solved.” But life had never been easy or nice to him. So he stared at the city under him and leaned on the railing of the skyscraper.
In the distance he saw a little light, like a ball out of light. Perhaps an airplane or drone. So he leaned forward to see it better. As he leaned forward his mobile phone slipped out of his hands. He tried to grab it and leaned further until he had it in his hands. At that moment he noticed, that he lost his balance and fell over the railing.
He needed a moment to realise what happened and startet to scream but it was to late. He fell directly back to earth. After a moment of intense pain there was nothing but just dark nothingness and rain endless rain. His last expression was a smile. He could go back to his family.

Again from Scratch Saga: Izmittor Unchained
If someone precious to you needed your help, would you extend it? Would you still do it if it costs you your peace and perhaps even your life? For Tercius, a man mysteriously reborn nearly thirteen years ago, there was only one answer to both questions. Feeling compelled, he sets out to journey to the northern Sogea and its infamous Western Izmittor mountain range, a natural stronghold of sky tearing mountains and deep canyons. Legends about the place abounded, but he knew without a doubt that the hidden valleys, rushing rivers, thick forests, and desolate landscapes hid powerful predators, the likes of which stalk the harsh terrains for an easy source of meat and bones. The many natural dangers of Western Izmittor would be hard enough to navigate safely for a lone traveler, but to make matters worse Tercius had enemies in the heights of Western Izmittor, humans and spirits who would see him dead if they ever learned of his true connection to the Pyramid of Tergaron and the Society of the Magi. To make things even more difficult, he also had to ensure that the true extent of his own Innate Skills remained hidden, for if the prying eyes of the world fell on him and his many secrets came to light, then he would never again know a day of peace. Can one reborn man manage to keep his secrets and still succeed in doing what his conscience compels him to? Will he have to choose one over the other? And can he do any of it without reigniting the sparks of a planetary war the likes of which had not been seen in millennia? Follow Tercius’ story and find out! *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** This story is a continuation of Again from Scratch, a story of mine also posted on RR. I will post a chapter and edit later so apologies for small errors. Gets the chapter up quicker. This novel is a futuristic VMMORP with a twist, set in a dystopian Australian future in 3040. The main character is Braizo Nakamura, a 17 year old Japanese / Aboriginal Australian teenager who is confined in solitary confinement for life years in one Australia's toughest adult prisons. The worlds first murderer for 100 years, Braizo is crippled by an abnormality in his brain which prevents him using any neural implants or tech. Locked away since he was 14 for a revenge killing, without contact with another human being, Braizo has no idea of the change that swept the world only months after his incarceration. It was in 2077 that the great spaceship of the Warden appeared over the skies of earth and revealed a shocking truth, not only were human beings not alone in the universe, but their countless humans spread across millions of galaxies. The branch of humanity on earth was merely part of an old, thought to be extinct bloodline. The Warden had sought to use this bloodline for his own purposes as part of the Great Game, a fully immersive virtual reality world that was created by an unknown entity billions of years in the past. The Great Game was now populated by players from millions of different civilisations across countless galaxies. Braizo is forced into the Great Game by an old enemy in an attempt to kill him, but instead of dying Braizo receives a special ability that is both a curse and a blessing. So begins his adventures in the Great Game.
