In Skylar Academy’s Principal’s Office
“Mr. William, the tryouts will be starting soon… Are you going to watch the trialists?” The lady with red hair asked the man.
“Indeed… I want to see if these kids are Skylar academy quality, myself.” The man with an eye patch answered while looking out of the window at a crowd of people. The man then turned looking at the well built young lady and said,”Lets get this started.”
“Yes Sir.” the woman then bowed and walked away.

Before even walking out of the wagon, Hector could hear people talking outside, a large amount of people at that. Burich stepped out first and Hector followers.
“Holy crap…” Astonished Hector murmured under his breath, as he examined his surroundings. The first thing that Hector was able to notice was a fantasy castle like building just over some opened gates, where numerous people were walking through. Unlike those castles in books, written over the years, this one looked modern, The huge walls were white colored bricks, made with something unknown to Hector. The building possessed three pillars that were paralleled with each other.
These pillars had a cone shaped roof over them that had a blue color to it, the three pillars also had big rectangular windows that seemed to go around the whole pillar. The middle pillar was the biggest of the three and on it was a logo, an arrow pointed upwards towards a star and a circle was around the arrow. Under the logo was a big double door, made out of something that looked like silver. Next to the building was a huge dome which seemed to be the place that everyone was going to. “Aww… I wanted to see that huge castle…” Hector cried to himself.
Another thing that Hector noticed was a line of wagons behind them, there were around 10 or more behind his and some ahead leaving after they had just left off their passengers. Walking over to the dome shaped building took a few minutes, as Hector got closer he was able to see the main building with more detail. The building seemed to be four to five stories high, not only that but the building was really long, and through out the sides, there were different kinds of windows. On the back of the building seemed to have three other pillars. Hector was also able to spot a lot of fountains around the academy’s huge campus.

On the front entrance of the dome was a sign that stated,’Trialists only, Guardians please go around the other entrance.”
“Well, This is it I will be watching you.” Burich said with a smile on his face as he walked away, both hands behind him.
Hector Opens the door and a long hall shows itself in front of him. White walls, ceiling and floors with gold and blue outline covered the hall, The lights came out of the ceiling like the ceiling itself was a lightbulb. At the end of the hall was another door, but unlike the others along the walls, that one was bigger and had a sight that said Arena.”Im guessing thats where we go to tryouts.” Hector thought to himself.
Hector noticed an open door on the right , where he could also hear sounds coming out of it. over it was a sign that read,’Sign Up’ He walked towards the door and enters it.
The room wasn't really that big, compared to how the building looked but still bigger than Burich’s home. In the room was a row of Desks and behind each desk was someone handing out papers. Hector walked up to a desk where a girl was seated behind it. The girl had looked bored, she had a big rectangular green glasses, and was wearing a white Tunic with blue outline and the same logo that was on the castle, the other people behind the other desks also wore the same thing. Her hair was a short green, and got darker the closer to the tip it was. Hector walks over to her and asks.”Hi, I want to sign up for the Tryouts.”
“Hello, Here take this” she holds out a paper,”and this.” she also hands out a pencil. “You, can go over there and sign up.” She pointed at a table with a smile on her face.
The table she pointed to was the only table without anyone as every other table was filled with people that had know each other before. As Hector walked over to the table, he looked around to see if he could find his friends anywhere, but no luck. One thing that did catch his attention was how the girls looked at him, some even licked their lips. But Hector didn't pay any attention to those things, and sit down.
Hector begins examining the paper and he notices that the paper had things to fill out, that read the following, and he filled them.

Full Name: Hector Vesci
Age:16
Guardians: Nolan Vesci and Sylvia Vesci.
Weapon: Night’s Edge
From: Buseth(The town he lived in with his mom.)
After he was done he walked back over to the girl and hands over the paper.
“I have completed the fill in sheet.” Hector says holding out the paper.
“Thank you, and take this.” The girl says with a smile on her face handing him a tag with the number 348 on it.” If you look over there, you are able to see when your number is the one called up. When your number is shown on the board please, walk out of the room and take a right. That will lead you to the arena.” She pointed at a blackboard that had the number 257.
Strangely, the numbers were glowing and it changed every time a new number was called. Guessing it was probably some kind of magical objects, Hector went back to the table he once sat in and waited.
After an hour or so the number was at 340, and even though almost 100 people have gone up, the room wasn't clear at all. In fact it looked like there were more people. Now 2 other people sat on the same table as Hector but didn't pay him much attention either, probably because Hector was looking straight at the blackboard waiting for his number to be shown.
‘348’ his number finally lit up, Hector got up and quickly walked towards the doors he spotted at the end of the hallway. As Hector approached the double doors they opened instantly by themselves. as he walked through the doorway there was stairs leading up, and Hector began following it since there weren't any other options.
The closer Hector got to the top, the brighter his surroundings became, when finally he reached the outside, and the sun’s light overwhelmed his vision.
He heard a loud voice screaming,”And the trialist,” Hector Vesci!!” as soon as he reached the surface. Hector looked around and he was astonished, the place was huge, the arena was made out of grass with a few trees. The arena was covered by walls and over the walls were spectators, thousands of them. It was like a coliseum, an arena that he used to hear stories of. He looked around trying to spot Burich but he was unable to(Jeez, he’s never able to spot anyone, anywhere.). He looked ahead and a well built teen was looking at him with a smirk on his face. The young man was bald with thick eyebrows and brown eyes, he also had a rather large nose but Hector wasn't the judging type. This guy had a white tunic with a red outline around it and a red badge.
“Dont worry, I will make this fast!” He screamed at Hector as his smirk widened.
“Now here are the rules!” The commentator who, now Hector was able to see was standing on top of a balcony that was on the wall. He had a white tunic, but unlike the one he’s seen before this one had a silver outline and a silver badge.
“He must be someone higher ranking…”Hector thought
The commentator continued,”Not fatal strikes, no dirty tricks and have a clean fight, respect each other’s honor and make this match worthy of watching!!”
Goosebumps continued through Hector’s body as he began to feel excited.”My first actual match… Lets do this…” he murmured to himself.
After a few seconds of silence, from the commentator and the crowd.
“Now, begin!!!” The commentator screamed.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-Minutes, before Hector’s number is called.
“Hmm, another one that couldn't make it in… How p-” William was thinking when out of nowhere a brown haired man also wearing an armor stormed in. His armor was full silver but more slim than William’s who was a bit muscular.
“Sir!! I have news of a demon attack!” The man says
“A demon attack…? And where was this?” William asked while standing up.
“It was in the village of Buseth, all of the villagers disappeared, and its believed that the demons have captured them.” The man quickly answered…
William began thinking,”How could that be… Buseth is one of the closest village to the capital… where did these demons come from…?” after thinking William finally spoke.
“Send A nd B classed troops there immediately and patrol the area around the village in search of clues as to the disappearance of these people, I will join short after.” William said as he sat back down, facing towards the arena.
“Yes sir!!” The man shouted as he quickly left the room.

The Animo Saga
Before history was well-recorded in the world of Ulakam, primordial animal spirits adopted humans, provided protection and developed deep spiritual connections with them. Millennia later, humans now host animal spirits and are split into tribes named for the species they host. Ulakam is slowly being consumed by a decades-long war pitting the main tribes against the smaller tribes and a group of bandits calling themselves "the resistance". Callida Animo was born into this world. Coming from a mixed family of generational soldiers, Callida joined the family business at a young age. In her words, she was practically bred, born, and raised to be a soldier. And she's good at what she does... which inevitably attracts attention that makes her unambitious self extremely uncomfortable. Love, loss, influence and growth. This is her story. Written episodically, this story focuses on relationships and character growth through a series of mini-arcs that connect to make a greater whole. (Honestly, the story would lend itself well to a TV series.) "Episodes" range from 3-7 chapters (at least so far), and average about 4 or 5 chapters. Author's note: I'm always thrilled to receive comments, follows, ratings/reviews, messages.... All forms of feedback are welcome and encouraged. However, I have no interest in begging readers for more engagement to get better visibility. I tried that with my last story and found the game soul-sucking. So! This constitutes my only self-promotion request. If you are reading this story, let me know what you think! I love engaging with my readers. We'll see if growing the readership organically is even possible. Thank you! 😘 Release schedule: Weekly on Wednesday afternoons
