Book 1: Chapter 5
“Do you remember that one of my conditions was for you to never kill? I know the feeling of anger and hate and thirst for vengeance. Wanting to hurt those who have hurt you or those you care about, but let me tell you this path will only create a cycle of hate…”
Seeing that Cyil was listening and no longer crying the old man continued:
“My name is Baccaus Petros, the fourth son of Zale Manos, the 76th wizened. Your body is already slowly becoming that of a man but you are still a child and easily malleable. My methods and teachings may not be correct at all and some things can only be learned by yourself, but remember my teachings in the case where one day find you are in need of them.
You were only a normal boy until the awakening of your elemental body five years ago. I do not know what triggered your awakening but it was a miracle that perhaps upset the heavens, for your elemental body, no, it would be more correct to say your saint body holds three of the four saint attributes!” Baccaus stopped speaking as if reliving the shock of the scene where he saw the practically dead boy tied to the back of another man.
...
Baccaus was changing his location as he never could stay in one place for too long and hearing horse hooves charging towards him, he grew annoyed. Moving towards the sound, Baccaus felt something forcefully fly out of his spatial equipment on its own accord and speed towards the two riders behind him.
“No!” Baccaus was shocked and vanished from his spot, only to appear a half second later in front of the flying object. He caught the object, a smooth, round ball the size of an apple.

“Why did it come out on it’s own?” Baccaus slowly began, then he noticed that the ball was glowing. It was dim but Baccaus could see it clearly. “Glow?! Resonance!”
Baccaus immediately became excited and let the attraction of the orb pull him forwards towards the ever closer riders.
“This must be heaven’s fate. Kara, if this is who you choose then I have no objections. I will do my best to make sure he becomes as kind and gentle as you were.” The rim of Baccaus’ eyes grew red as he went to welcome the two riders.
…
“Saint attributes. Those who have a saint attribute will also automatically have a perfect saint body. But you actually have three! This is unprecedented in all of history!” Baccaus said this to Cyil with a stern tone.
“Sit.” Baccaus gestured and took his own seat on the rocky ground. “What’s your name, boy?”
“My name is Cyil Cintu.” Cyil slowly took a seat opposite of the old man.
“Okay Cyil. You haven’t been awake for even an hour and yet you’ve heard of many things having happened that has probably turned your world inside out. Let’s start over, slowly, from the beginning.”
“But before that, wear some clothes first.” Baccaus waved his arm and levitating clothes appeared on top of Cyil’s head, before quickly crashing down onto his head.
Cyil quickly realize that he had been naked the whole time and blushed. Quickly donning a simple cotton shirt and pants, he sat back down and said, “Elder, I’m ready. I now know that revenge is bad so I will try my best to not pursue it! I still find this situation very strange but I feel like I can trust you; it’s almost as if I’ve met you before-like a grandpa! Mom says your heart is your first brain and you should listen to it first.”

“Well said, but revenge is not necessarily-argh there are no absolutes. Forget it, I’ll tell you when you become older.” Baccaus said, then revealed a grin. “Cyil, you may call me grandpa Baccaus from now on!”
“Really really? Grandpa Baccaus!” Cyil felt a sense a familiarity with the old man and instantly accepted him.
“Haha, of course just because I’m your grandpa doesn’t mean I’ll be going easy on you when we’re training.”
“Grandpa Baccaus do you mean you’re willing to teach me how to become a mage?”
“From the moment your saint body was awakened you have already become a mage. And a powerful one too at that. Now it’s just a matter of controlling and improving your ability to communicate with the elements. One step at a time young man, but with me here you’ll become the top mage within your age in no time!”
“Thank you Grandpa Baccaus! I am really happy right now. Did you know that I always wanted to have a grandpa? The kids in the villages have grandpas so they would always get to hear many nice bedtime stories. They would also get lots of sweets! My mom said that my grandmas and grandpas are all really far away. And and and.”
Baccaus listened patiently as he watch the half-grown man open up to him. A warm feeling he did not think he would ever feel again cozied up in his heart. Baccaus smiled. “Kara I think you would have loved this boy. I imagine if we had a child, he would be just like this.”

8 374Alive?
In the ruins of a once glorious city, a mage awakens. As the sole survivor(?) of the cataclysm that destroyed his entire species, he’s forced to adapt. While learning the intricacies of his new body, he must first carve out a place for himself in a familiar yet foreign world before he can set out to reclaim his heritage. I cannot stress this enough: the character is not human, do not expect him to react like one. I know the hand on the cover only has five finger, but I doubt I am going to find a royalty free radiography with two perfectly functional thumbs placed in a sensible way anytime soon. The rewrite is finished. Beta readers are welcomed and I am still wondering whether I should put the sci-fi tag or not.
