《The Billionaire's Proposal》New York, New York (Part II)

I step out of the steamy bath tub and wrap a towel around me and another one around my hair. I look at my reflection in the mirror. What happened to the happy and cheerful Jane? I mentally ask myself. I let out a soft sigh before air drying my hair and setting the towel on the counter top. I ran a brush through my chocolate brown locks parting it to the right side. I grab my undergarments and put them on after applying some Victoria's Secret lotion. I slide on a pair of navy blue skinny jeans, white blouse that hugged my upper body which I tucked under my jeans, I put a burgundy blazer over it before sliding into a pair of black heels. I wrap a flannel scarf around my neck to finish off the look. I part my hair in the middle and let it fall down my shoulders. Straight hair somehow made me look more mature and older than twenty one. Once I am done with my make up I walk outside.
"Finally." Adrian huffs as he stands up from the bed and brushes past as he makes his way towards the bathroom.
"Rude much." I mutter as I walk over to my bag.
I place my phone, personal items, extra make-up, and wallet before placing it on the chair near the door. I walk over to the balcony door and watch as the water droplets fall down onto the city. I know it's weird but I loved thunderstorms. They somehow calmed me down and made me relax even in the hardest of times. Suddenly the ringing of phone makes me jump back. I follow the Opening ring tone that defines belonged to an iPhone. The black iPhone 7 vibrated against the brown wooden drawer and I soon realized it was Adrian's. I bite my lip as I hesitantly reached over to check the caller I.D. Mom flashed on the screen and I decided to pick up.
"Jane what are you doing with my phone?" Adrian growled as he cut my sentence.
"It's your mom." I mouthed causing Adrian to roll his eyes and frown.
"Give me the phone." He sighed and I did as told.
I decide to give him some privacy so I grab my bag and wait for him in the lobby. I walk down the hall to the elevator and press the button with the number one on it. The iron doors slide close and quiet music starts playing as the elevator makes its way towards the lobby floor. There is a ding and the doors slide open before I step out. As I am heading towards On of the couches my phone starts vibrating inside my bag. I take it out and the caller I.D. marks the call as unknown. I knit my eyebrows together in confusion before answering.
Anger takes over my body as my mouth formed a hard line. How the hell did he get my phone number?! Stalker much.
I hit the red end button before shutting off my white iPhone 5s. Damon's number flashed on my screen as my phone vibrated in my hand. Can't he take no for an answer! I turn of my phone completely before tossing it into my burgundy leather bag. I run a hand over my temples as I let out a frustrated sigh.

"Let me guess it was Damon?" Adrian's voice states from behind me making me jump.
"Yeah." I sigh as I slump into one of the couches.
"You know slumping isn't good for your back right?" Adrian asks teasingly.
I roll my eyes as a smile tugs on my lips. I look up and answer back jokingly, "Do I care?"
"You should." Adrian replies as he crosses his arms over his chest.
I check my wrist watch which marked one thirty before asking, "Aren't we running a little late for that meeting with your mysterious friend?"
Realization dawns on Adrian as his eyes pop out and answers, "Oh shit, you're right let's go. Darrel should be waiting for us already."
I grab my back before walking after Adrian. He walk out of the hotel and enter the crowded and noisy streets of New York. Various taxis and cars filled the roads, many were beeping their horns and yelling out curse words. Just Adrian had predicted Darrel was standing in front of the hotel holding an umbrella since it was still raining.
"Mr. McKeller, Ms. Hamilton." He stated as he walked over to us with the black umbrella.
He held the umbrella for us as we made our way inside the black 2017 BMW 540i. Darrel closed the door once we were inside the car and stepped into the drivers seat placing the umbrella in the passengers seat next to him. He pulled out of the hotel and drove into the crowded roads. We were only two blocks away from the hotel and we were already stuck in traffic, great! I looked outside at the sea of cars. Adrian drummed his fingers on the car door impatiently before checking his watch and sighing. What seemed like hours in this car were actually only twenty five minutes. Finally, after I had enough of Adrian's drumming I grabbed the umbrella from the passengers seat and stepped out of the car surprising both Adrian and Darrel. If he wants to wait in this traffic he can. I on the other hand won't seat in that car and let my butt get numb waiting in this traffic.
"Siri open Maps." I talk into my phone and a second later maps was opened.
I quickly typed in the name of the restaurant Adrian had mentioned earlier. The directions were displayed on the screen and I realized it was only a fifteen minute walk. But of course Adrian being the stuck up rich man he is would have preferred getting stuck in traffic instead of walking.
"Jane!" A familiar and annoying voice called out bringing me out of my thoughts. "What is it with you and jumping out of cars?"
"First off, I stepped out of the car while we were in traffic and the car wasn't moving so technically I didn't jump out of the car." I answer as I turn around to find Adrian with an umbrella in hand. "And secondly unlike you I know how to walk somewhere that's only fifteen minutes away than let my chauffeur drive me there and get stuck in traffic. I don't know about you but I don't want a numb butt again."

Probably should have said the last part.
"Jane let's just get back in the car." Adrian replies.
"No. I am walking, if you want to wait in the traffic be my guest." I answer.
"You don't even know where the restaurant is." Adrian responds.
I wave my phone at him and answer, "I've got a phone for a reason."
"Fine." He sighs in defeat. "We'll walk, I will just call Darrel and inform him."
A smudge look splatters on my face at his response. Adrian quickly calls Darrel before we start walking towards Lucy's restaurant. In only ten minutes we got were standing outside the glass doors of the restaurant.
"See, was that so hard?" I ask with a smirk.
Adrian rolls his eyes before we walk into the restaurant. A waiter shows us to our table before we take a seat.
"I guess your friend isn't here yet." I state as I try to look around for a guy with a suit or a rich looking guy.
Unfortunately there were many rich slash professional looking guys here so my plan didn't work as I had thought.
"He's stuck in traffic." Adrian answers as he looks up from his phone.
"Huh, rich people share so many things in common." I mutter and Adrian just rolls his eyes.
"You're technically rich, too." Adrian replies as he connects his hands together and places them on the table like he usually does when he is talking about business.
"Yeah, but I am different because unlike you I know to use my head and my luxuries to do the work for me." I retort.
"Well-"
"Gold afternoon my name is Emma and I'll be your waitress today." A brown haired girl with hazel green eyes stated as she walked up to us and interrupted Adrian. "I'll start you off with beverages. What would you like to drink?"
I quickly scan the menu she gave us and answer, "Double chocolate milkshake."
She nods as she writes something down on her notepad and then turns to Adrian as she asks, "And you sir?"
"A cup of water please." He responds not once looking at the menu.
"Alright, I'll bring your drinks asap." She states before walking towards the back of the restaurant and through some doors.
I turn my attention back on Adrian and ask, "Why was your mom calling earlier?"
"She wanted to know how the trip was going." He answers as he pinches the bridge his nose.
Somehow I knew there was more to it but I didn't want to push it. The girl that attended us walks back to our table with our drinks.
"A double chocolate milkshake and a glass of water." She states as she places our beverages in front of us. "Are you ready to order?"
"Not yet, we are waiting for someone." Adrian answers and the girl nods before heading back to the doors she walked in from.
I grab the cherry that was placed on top of the whipped cream. I look at the door as I place the cherry in my mouth only for it to come back out again and land in my palm as I stared at the dirty blonde haired guy who had just walked through the doors. He eyes landed on us and a smile spread across his face before he began walking towards us.
"Adrian." He called out as he and Adrian did a bro hug.
"James, it's nice to see you." Adrian responds as they pull away from the hug.
"And you must be Jane." James states turning his attention towards me.
I give him a shy smile and nod.
"Well it's nice to finally meet you." He replied as he shakes my hand and give me a toothy smile.
"I-It's nice to meet you, too." I answer unsure of what to say.
"So, what is it that made Adrian chose you for the contract?" James asks as he takes a seat at our table.
My mouth falls as I take in what he just said.
"You know about the contract?" I ask in disbelief.
He lets out a chuckle before answering, "Of course I do, I am Adrian's lawyer after all."
"Oh." I answer.
"Are you ready to order." The girl from earlier asks as she walks up to us.
"Yes please! I am starving." James states as he unbuttons his blazer. "I'll have the cheeseburger with french fries and a glass of coke."
"I will have shrimp soup." Adrian answers once again not looking at his menu.
"I'll have spaghetti and meatballs." I reply as the girl writes down our order.
"A cheeseburger with fries with a coke, shrimp soup, and spaghetti with meatballs coming right up." She states before heading towards the kitchen doors.
"Why did you choose this restaurant?" Adrian asks James.
"Because it's one of my favorite places here in New York, plus the food is to die for." James answers.
"But cheeseburgers, really?" Adrian asks causing me to roll my eyes.
Stuck-up Adrian is back!
"Unlike you I do appreciate a good juicy burger." James responds causing a smile to tug on my lips.
Guess James and Adrian aren't so similar as they thought they would be.
"Alright both of you shush, who cares what type of food it is as long as we get some food into our stomachs." I state breaking up their argument.
"Finally, someone who gets me." James replies causing me to let out a soft laugh.
Adrian just rolls his eyes before taking a sip from his water.
