《The Strongest Spirit Form, I Was Summoned From The Future》Chapter 09: The Competition

"Is this the Green Hil village? I would not have heard of this place if the accident didn't happen."
A tall young man with short black hair spoke while sitting on his horse, his sharp eyes staring at the passersby in disgust. An old man with a beard who was following him answered calmly.
"Investigating such issues is the main family's task. Since we are here, it is okay to examine some young people. As a result, we may find one or two talents to bring them into the academy."
The young man with sharp eyes smiled.
"Do you think you would find any talents in a place like this? You are indeed an optimist."
The village people were on their nerves as they received the news of the arrival of a member of the Shen family, and the most enthusiastic of them were the young men. If they were lucky, they would be moved to the city, opening new horizons for them.
They spent the whole morning preparing for the competition except for Jin, who sat eating his seventh bowl of black noodles, uninterested in the competition.
"Check, please," Jin said to the waiter who was close to him.
"One hundred and twenty silver, sir." The waiter replied as if he was waiting for the question.
"One hundred and twenty? Why? did I eat a roast lamb without noticing?" Jin asked, looking at the waiter strangely.
The waiter pointed at the piled-up plates and said.
"Sir, that's for three days, and you honestly have a great appetite."
Jin looked at a waiter and said, "Not today, my appetite is down, here take 20 silver."
Then Jin turned to the table behind him, pointed his finger at the doctor, and said, "Doctor, don't forget to pay my bills. It's a hundred silvers."
The food fell from the doctor's mouth as soon as he heard the price because a miser like him would rather die than endure this torture.
'How much he thinks I earn in a day to ask me 100 silver every time he sees me, enough is enough. I'm leaving this village.'
Of course, he didn't dare to say it in public and only continued to curse Jin secretly. As soon Jin walked out of the restaurant, he found an angry person standing in his way.
"Where do you think you are going without keeping your promise?"
A girl with two braids stood in the middle of the road, her arms crossed and her cheeks puffed out. Yet, she seemed more cute and kind.

"Brother, didn't you promise me that you would defeat Luna Bai's brother, but all you do is eat and hang out."
Jin bent down, and Mai was on his shoulders in one movement.
"Little princess, you shouldn't be walking outside alone. You'd make your mother worried about you."
The girl ignored his warning to point her finger where many people had gathered.
"Luna's brother is there where everyone is gathering. Quickly go and beat him up." Mai said with a begging look on her face.
"Okay my princess, let's go," Jin said after giving in to her request.
He imitated the sound of the horse and started running towards the arena while his sister was on his shoulders, screaming happily.
---
In the middle of the village, a rectangular platform has been installed to be the battlefield between the competitors. The noble from the main family will choose the first and second ranks to add them to the outer branch of the Martial Arts Academy.
All eyes were focused on Du Bai, the blond-haired young man, at the age of thirteen. He was the frontrunner to win the tournament. He won two matches and is now preparing for his third match against a girl. The stress was obvious on the girl's face, but somehow she managed to gather her calm and prepare for the fight.
"step aside for a moment."
A strange hand pushed the girl off the road, a white-haired young man walked up to Du Bai and asked him.
"Are you Luna's brother? I promised my sister that I will defeat you today." Jin said as he looked at Du Bai.
Du Bai and everyone around the arena looked at Jin strangely. Jin did not register to participate in the competition and did not show any interest in joining the academy. As he has been absent for years, it is natural that no one will be scared of him.
The blond boy woke up from his surprise, smiling and said.
"Ah, you are Mai's brother, I know the whole story, my naughty sister always teases her friends, but as you can see, I'm busy today."
Du Bai walked over to Jin and whispered.
"Don't you see the beautiful girl behind you? It's my chance to look good in front of her. So how about we delay the fight until tomorrow, and I promise I will pretend defeat in front of your sister."
"There is no need to delay the fight or pretend defeat. Let's get it over, right here right now," Jin said

Jin pulled up his sleeves, ready to fight. His actions were considered rude, especially in the presence of representatives of the Shen family. The chief village wiped the sweat from his forehead and smiled, trying to justify Jin's actions to the guests.
"He is a reckless young man, who was held captive by the Oris, and no one taught him the manners of meeting nobles. I will go to stop him."
The old man scratched his beard, the mention of Oris caught his attention.
"Isn't he the same kid who reported Monroe's murder?" The old man asked the chief village, and the chief village nodded in response
"Let him fight then. Let's see what he can do."
Du Bai sighed and refused to take a fighting position.
“Listen, I am three levels higher than you. I have reached the seventh level of the evolution realm, and I’m about to break through to the soul realm. If you insist on fighting, you will end up embarrassed in front of your sister and in front of all these people, so why won't you leave now, and we'll fight later?"
Jin wanted to end this matter quickly. He knew he couldn't escape from his sister's inconvenience if he pulled out now, so he turned toward the girl, whom he took her place and said.
"Close your ears for a moment, you shouldn't hear what I'm going to say to him."
The girl nodded and put her hands on her ears, then Jin turned to Du Bai and said, "You blond ***** son of a *****, why not ***."
Although his voice was low and no one outside the ring could hear a single word, the girl was close enough to them and was able to hear everything, then she quickly ran out of the arena with a tomato-red face.
"You bastard, I'm going to tear up that damn mouth!"
Du Bai's eyes turned red from anger as he unleashed his full powers, crimson-red energy gathered around his body and threw his heavy fist at Jin's face, even from afar, waves in the air could be seen due to the power of his blows, upon seeing that the old man smiled.
"That blond isn't bad. He's about to enter the soul realm. I can tell he's attacking with his full strength from the waves in the air. It looks like he's angry."
The village chief's eyes widened as he jumped in shock, the difference between Jin and Du Bai is huge, and as Du Bai became crazed, he might get out of hand and hurt Jin so hard.
The village chief didn't want to see someone in his village injured and bedridden for a long time, so he shouted, "We have to stop the fight. Jin is just a beginner and will get seriously injured."
When the village chief was about to jump into the ring and stop the fight, he stopped because the old man signaled him to wait with a look of wonder on his face.
“That’s impossible. It’s Autumn Leaf skill.” The old man screamed in surprise as he looked at the ring.
In the middle of the ring, Du Bai was throwing a volley of punches and quick kicks that cut the air and were heading towards Jin's body, but it was useless, all those powerful and fast attacks were ending in the air, Jin was moving with great flexibility and agility, dodging all of Du Bai's attacks.
Du Bai became very tense after a while. He could never touch his opponent, who was three levels lower than him, and his opponent did nothing but dodge his attacks while smiling at him. Because of that, Du Bai's movements became more predictable.
'What exactly is going on? How is it possible that I can't touch him!' When he was thinking about this, his vision suddenly turned.
'What is this blue color? What happened? Why am I staring at the sky?'
Silence filled in the place. No one understood what had happened. The roles were reversed in one moment. Du Bai was thrown out of the ring.
“Yay, my brother won, brother, you are the best,” Mai shouted with joy.
Because of Mai cheering and jumping, everyone woke up from their confusion. He won easily. They even thought they were hallucinating. All Jin did was dodge his opponent's punches, then he grabbed Du Bai from his arm and threw him out of the ring.
“He threw him out of the ring, and according to the competition rules, Du Bai lost the fight.” A spectator spoke in shock.
No one expected this result, and even though they saw the battle, they still couldn't believe what had happened.

Author's Thoughts: What is litRPG (From wikipedia) - LitRPG, short for Literary Role Playing Game, is a literary genre combining the conventions of MMORPGs with science-fiction fantasy novels.[1] LitRPG is a literary genre where games or game-like challenges form an essential part of the story. A LitRPG work simultaneously narrates the story of characters inside and outside of the game-world. At least some of the characters in a LitRPG novel therefore understand that they are playing a game: they are 'meta-aware'. So, while Tolkien's Lord of the Rings is a fantasy novel, a book about people creating avatars and interacting in a Lord of the Rings MMORPG would be a LitRPG novel. Why do I read them? You know, I am not too sure. I love MMOs. I played them, quit them, joined up and repeated the cycle. They are fun! They are a massive waste of time but so are most games. Do I want to read about someone else playing them? Sort of?The advent of VR and the possibility of VR someday becoming so immersive that you can't tell them from reality sets the imagination on fire. What if this could be life? But most stories fall short. At the end of the day the protagonist hangs up his VR helmet and goes to have dinner with his mom and dad or other family and it becomes meaningless. It's like the story that ends because the main character woke up and nothing you read matters. There have been some books that explore the concept of the intersection of reality and total immersion VR. Enders Game is a classic. There were a few others that escape me but they exist, however, the cross between the game and reality is weak.So what if the game was real? The technology needed for total immersion VR is so advanced that by the time we reach that goal technology should have naturally evolved to include several items. You must have direct neural input. You simply can't have a total immersion (all senses and perfect presence) experience without this basic prerequisite. If you have direct neural access, you can probably do neat things like feed knowledge and skills directly to that person. You can undoubtedly do many horrible things as well. Muscles are controlled by the brain. If you control the brain why would you let the body just sit there and rot? A person that sits unmoving for 24 hours a day will have their body whither away just like a coma patient. However, if you control the brain you could control the muscles. On a basic level, this would be isometric impulses, working muscle group against muscle group to avoid atrophy. Taken to its logical conclusion you would be able to gain muscle mass and program muscle memory. The flip side is that you could remote control their body... but let's not go there. So what would people do if it were real? Well, they would probably limit and regulate it since the drawbacks are very obvious. Even if you look at the basic aspects of this you can see some negative possibilities. Look at the Sword Art Online anime. Personally, I think they missed the boat by putting a bomb in the VR helmet. Do you really need a bomb when you have direct access to the brain? So what kind of events would you need to have a situation where the obvious drawbacks haven't been explored? Maybe a society where the advancement of technology has so far outstripped the explorations of its applications that ignorance was truly bliss? Okay, so I had to put in an alien invasion to kickstart the premise, but that was just one of the possibilities.
