Chief of Staff Office

I sit on my chair and let General Loie to take the sit in front of me. As usual he is indeed inspecting first his chair to make sure it is clean and no dust around it. After that, he sat over it making the foam slowly swamp from his butt. Crossing his legs in the right side which his right leg is over his left hip.

He draws out his pack of tobacco from his pocket of the uniform. However when he notices that there is no cigarette filter around the office, he then puts it back gently.

Two of his men are remained standing behind him while Agatha moved beside the door. She seems extremely looking at us.

“Umm General, why’re your whole division in here?”

His eyes opened wide and started to laugh.

“Come on, COS. You’re still making some jokes. Don’t ya read the following statements that is classified in the papers?”

I looked at Agatha and she seemed making me answering that I actually read it. But the truth, she is the only one who read though.

I sighed and told him, “Ha-ha, y-yeah I really read it. But can you make it more clarify it to me again. I don’t really understand the following situation here. Well, we become friends so it would not be difficult to explain it to me in this matter.”

“Haha, come on. During high school, we’re comrades in arms. I wouldn’t act like the other generals who just wanted to rise from the rank to act like a powerful or higher official. I’m not that kind of person who will forget the friendship I experience with you.”

“T-Thanks, so let’s get to the point. What’s the real deal here? Why the UN send your troops to this place. They won’t just do this without any kind of trouble.”

General Loie started to look at my eyes seriously. Looking at his eyes seems this is a big problem.

“Sighed. You’re really importunate person don’t you? Sighed. Well then, the real reason why we’re here is because the UN got recently a message from their spy that the Federation will break the treaty.”

“Huh?! Are they retarded? They would just destroy the treaty that they create! Seriously, what a bunch of morons!”

“Yeah, they are morons. But we don’t know if the spy is really telling the truth. But the UN officials are really persistent and scared that they won’t let any single important places to be captured by the Federation.”

I scratched my head and get a lolipop from the drawer of my table. I take away the cover of the lolipop and put it inside my mouth.

Darn it, this is really a big trouble. The Federation is making their first move to attack us blindly.

Agatha started to talk and she said, “General, is the spy really telling the truth? There is a ninety percent chance that the spy is a double agent. He just maybe manipulate the UN official to start the first move. Remember everyone, the Federation is the one who proposed the peace treaty. They won’t just gonna destroy their image for that reason.”

Damn, she got a point. But there is ten percent chance that the spy is telling the truth.

“What’s your name again, miss?” General Loie asked

“Agatha sir. Captain Agatha Reichel”

“Well then, Captain Agatha, you’re telling me that the spy a liar? He just manipulating the whole UN for his desire?”

“Yes sir. He maybe a double agent just like I said before.”

“What’s the main reason for that, huh?”

“I-I don’t know, general. But I do believe tha-”

“That?”

Agatha is started to felt scared when General Loie stands up from his chair and walking towards her.

“T-that… that he is… He is…”

I’m gonna say something but he just bump his right hand from the wall near her. Agatha’s whole body started to shake.

“Captain Agatha, the one you’re telling is a good man. He won’t do such thing to betray his own country. You see I get irritated when you mention those words against him. Don’t you know what just happen to him?”

“N-No. W-What the big deal with him?”

He bumps with right hands the wall twice. Agatha covered her head with both of her hands. I’m gonna stop him but his two men draws out their guns and pointed it to me.

“He is my apprentice. He just died from yesterday at my own hands. But before he died, he gave this such important information. Now may you please get out of my sight, please. Before I do something against my will.”

Agatha looked at my eyes frightfully and waiting for me to say something.

“Miss Agatha, please do what the General wish.”

“Y-Yes Chief, excuse me.”

She left the room and suddenly the atmosphere back to normal. General Loie went back to his sit and started to smile at me. His men put their guns back to their holsters.

“Sorry again my friend. I apologize for what just happen. Please forgive my secretary for that. She didn’t know exactly who she is referring to. I’m also don’t know either that the spy is your former apprentice and died yesterday. Condolence.”

“My, my, its alright. I apologize too for that unforgivable scene. Please let just forget about it and move on”

“If that’s what you want, then let’s finish what we just started earlier.”

“Well to be frank, the UN send us to protect the place against the possible invasion. Area 51 is near from the boundary between the Federation occupied southern part of late-Texas. This place might be their first place to attempt to invade.”

I just suddenly recalled that what I’ve discussed to my younger brother before that. It is the same explanation I told to him.

“Hmm, so you’re gonna command them. You’re almost sixty-four years old. Are you still can do that?”

“My, my, don’t you worry about it. I have a replacement for me.”

“Wow then, who might be that person?”

“You!”

What?! Are you stupid? I’m sixty-four years old too

“Haha, come on don’t joke about that. So who is it?”

“I told you its You”

“Damn it, Loie. Who is that?!”

“I told you his name is Colonel You Shunie. He is my second-in command of my division. Who do you think I’m referring to?”

“Ha-Ha. I apologize for that.”

What an asshole? I thought I’m the one he referring to. ‘You’ is just a name of the person he is talking about.

“Ahh, so is he here?”

“Nice to meet you sir.”

Oh the man with long black pony-tailed styled hair.

“Nice to meet you too.”

“It’s my honor to be part of the division who will protect this place against the possible invasion of the Federation”

“Haha, thanks for that. Hope you succeed about it.”

“Thank you, Chief of Staff.”

General Loie said, “Well then, got to go.”

“You’re leaving now?” I asked

“Well got some business to do. I just finished what I must do in here.”

“Well let me guide you in the surface.”

“Okay”

It took us five minutes to go up to the surface. We are near now to the plane and it starts its engine.

“Well then, goodbye old friend. Let’s meet again someday”

“Haha, goodbye too. But there is still time to evacuate here. You should come with me instead.”

“Nah, you see. I need something to do before I do that.”

He looked again my eyes seriously and started to smile.

“Well then, I hope you’re still alive. Break a leg”

General Loie entered his plane and it flew away from the base. I walked towards the elevator and pressed the floor 6. When I get to the place and walked out from the elevator. As I walked with my hands are inside my pocket, I noticed that every members of the base stared at me.

I sighed and started to throw the lolipop stick to the garbage can.

One of them asked me, “Sir is that true?”

“What is it?”

“Chief, don’t act like you don’t know. We heard everything from Miss Agatha the whole situation. She told us that the Federation will break the treaty and invade this place. Is that true?”

“She told to all of you. Sighed. Now, now, okay then. About that question you’re asking, it is true that the Federation will might be break the treaty but there is a no evidence that they will invade this place first.”

“But sir, the place is near from the boundary. There is a high chance that they might attack this place.”

“Haha come on. This place a secret base thus there is no possibility they might attack it.”

Shit, there is a high chance! I forgot that the UN put its soldiers to this place. There is a possibility that there is a spy followed them over here. Damn it, I didn’t notice about that. Damn it!

“Shit, sorry guys. There is a high chance that this place will be discovered. Thus, I’ll give you guys an order those want to stay, stay if you want and those who want to evacuate, move your asses out of here before they start to invade this place. Go now if you want to live. Just do what you want, save yourselves!”

“Y-Yes sir!”

Everyone started to move faster. I walked towards to my office and saw Agatha sitting down near the door which her face is covering with her hands. She is still crying. As I move near to her, she starts to look at my face.

“Chief, am I a bad person? B-Because I didn’t know how to dealt with General Loie. I don’t know if he was angry about what I’ve told to his apprentice.”

I patted her head and I said, “My, my, stop crying don’t you? Just smile. You’re not a bad girl. You just didn’t know the whole details that’s all. Don’t worry the general has already forgave you earlier. So, stop crying. You’re beautiful face will ruin if you still keep doing that. Come on, smile”

“C-Chief… Thank you very much.”

“Well then, you should leave now too.”

“What? Why?”

“I already ordered an evacuation. You should packed your things and -”

“No way!”

“Huh?”

“I won’t leave you behind. Not now! I’ll stay!”

“Are you mad?! There is a high chance this place won’t be defend much further by the UN 212th division.”

“I’ll stay and protect not only the base but also you!”

I blushed for a sudden. But I don’t want to do such thing to fall for her. I have a wife even she is already dead. I don’t want to cause such commotion like I conquer the heart of my secretary and made her my wife.

“Sighed. You’re still stubborn girl. Well then, do what you want.”

She hold my hands and she said, “For almost two years I’ve serve, I’ll still want to repay you for all of you’ve done for me.”

When I looked at her eyes, her face looks determinable to do what she wanted.

“Whatever, like I said do whatever you want.”

“Yes sir.”
