《When Paths Converge: A MHA Fanfic》23.5 Adults We Can Trust

“So, how does it look?”
Yui looked up from her phone as Izu and Himi sat up from the nest of blankets on the floor. Dabi was pulling at the sleeve of the black body suit, lines of artic blue mix of a thermally conductive diamond core fabric and liquid helium running through the suit. The lines were specially crafted from a woman’s Quirk, her touch made anything she touched fabric, and still keep its original use. The lines were interconnected to a thin case on the chest, right in the center; housing a cartridge that held the liquid helium, tubing, woven flush to the diamond fabric with diamond string, specially made to handle the cold and regulate it through the tubes. The casing tracked Dabi’s temperature and made sure he wouldn’t overheat and hurt himself, the suit itself was crafted to handle extreme heat and cold, made from one of the least thermally conductive materials, a mixture of Aerogel and rust turned fabric, again through the woman’s quirk. The cartridges were refillable and in a container in Dabi’s room, Yui would have to bring him liquid helium to keep the container full, but it was doable.
“You look all sci-fi-y, Dabi!” Izuku grinned at him.
“The question is: how does it feel? It’s not too tight? Or uncomfortable?” Yui prompted standing up to poke the casing, “Did you try raising your temperature to see if it works properly?”
“No, why would I do that without you to observe?” Dabi rolled his eyes, before he held his hands out. Cerulean flames flickered to life, growing until they fit in his cupped hands. The lines in the suit started to glow, Dabi jerked a bit as the flames flickered out. “Damn…that really works. I feel nice and chilly.”
“Well, you did say you thought your body was more built toward ice and the cold. It’s not too cold, is it?” Yui asked, touching his forearm to feel the chill coming from the suit. It was kind of like when you felt when you walked into a freezer.
“Nope, its perfect.” He smiled softly as Yui circled him, eyeing the tubes and making sure everything looked right.
“Alright. Now that you got your license and the suit, you can actually wear it. The cartridges should last twenty four hours, but I don’t recommend sleeping in it. You should wear it while you’re awake though.” She said, typing some notes into her phone.

“How do I wash it? And I can wear clothes over this, right?” Dabi asked as he sat down in his chair.
“Handwash and hang up to dry, it’s made kind of like a hero suit so it repels sweat. So that should make it easier to clean. And yes, you can wear your clothes over it.”
“Oh thank Kami, I look like some hero poser if I was just wearing this.”
“Anyways! How’re you feeling Izu-chan? It’s been a few months since the melty-guy, how’s the side?” Himiko asked, gently poking his side until he giggled, swatting her hand away.
“I feel good as new! Granny’s Quirk is amazing, I mean, it scarred, but at least I was only stuck on house arrest for a week.” Izuku grinned, before he started to fiddle with the tools in his lap as he worked at adjusting the current on his staff, after the Caustic fight, it’d taken some damage and he was trying to fix it himself instead of asking Yui to.
“How’d that go? Those two heroes wouldn’t let you go home, right?” Dabi grumbled as he crossed his arms over his chest.
“It was…it was pretty nice actually.” Yui admitted softly, rubbing the back of her neck.
“Yeah! Yamada made breakfast every day, even though he had to go work at U.A. They both kept texting us throughout the day to make sure we were okay. Asking us if we needed any food or clothes or anything. Movie nights before Eraser went out for patrol…Dinner…” Izuku trailed off, looking down at his hands in his lap.
“Huh, so they’re just like a regular family? I thought heroes would be cooler, always kicking butt!” Himi mimed a punch, grinning at them.
The adult in the room rolled his eyes, “Just because they’re heroes doesn’t mean they’re good. Are you sure it was safe to be there?”
“Dabs, Eraser knows where we live. If he wanted to turn us in, he would have done it already. I think he really likes us, and cares for us…Eraser is like a mama bear. All fierce protection.” Yui mimed claws at him, sticking her tongue out at him when he scoffed.
“And Mic is super fun! He’s all for hugs and cuddles. And he makes the best hot chocolate.” Izuku smiled softly, “I kinda…miss living with them. It was like when you two moved, the apartment seemed…”

“Emptier. Plus they have three adorable cats, all rescues. Bean tried to hide in Izu’s curls when we left.” Yui chuckled softly.
“Awww! We should get a cat, Dabi!” Himiko turned to him with her brightest puppy dog eyes.
“No. We gotta make sure you can keep a fish alive first.” He huffed, dodging the pillow she launched at him.
“Then we need to stop getting fish from the festival games! They never live long.” She pouted, groaning as she collapsed back onto the pillows on the floor.
“Anyways…what else can you tell us about them? Who’s Granny?” Dabi asked, leaning his chin against his hand as he watched them.
“Oh! Granny Chiyo is Recovery Girl, she healed me that night so I didn’t have to go to the hospital. She’s kinda stern but she’s really nice.” The green bean smiled as he fiddled with the wiring, his tongue poking out a bit.
Yui yawned, stretching her arms and legs out in front of her. “Eraser can be a grump, but he’s a total softie underneath. But when he gets pissed, he’s terrifying. Mic is somewhat dramatic, he loves to tease Eraser, and us and if you tease him, he can either get pouty, or he sends it back to you twice as bad.”
“Yui-nee calls him cockatoo. Because of his hair when he’s in costume. Ummm…Eraser lives off of coffee and nutrient pouches, always looks tired, and I’ve lost count of how many people have mistaken him for a hobo.” Izuku yelped when he got zapped, shaking out his finger as he glared at the staff in his lap.
“Hmmm…they don’t sound like bad people…” Dabi muttered.
“Oh! Oh! Can we meet them? Pretty please? We’ll behave!” Himiko rolled over to prop her chin on the couch cushion, looking up at Yui with wide eyes. The teen bit her lip as she rubbed the back of her neck.
“I don’t know Himi…we didn’t want to involve you guys unless we knew we could trust them, but they’re still heroes…We weren’t sure if Dabs would want to be within spitting distance.” She said softly, glancing at the older male.
“If you vouch for them, I’ll believe you. If they try anything, I’ll just burn them.” He crossed his arms, cerulean eyes piercing the two with a glare.
The already airborne pillows took him off guard, grunting as he was hit by two.
“You will not be burning them.” Yui crossed her arms over her chest, giving him a stern look as Izuku pouted.
“Yeah! They’re really nice Dabi-nii. I don’t want you to burn them.”
“Okay, okay, we'll discuss the burning later. And it’s not like we’ll see them anytime soon. You two are staying until after New Year's, and they wouldn’t be in Kyushu anyway.” He tossed the pillows back at them.
"No burning Dabi!" Izuku huffed at Dabi as Himiko barreled on.
“We’ll have to invite them here sometime! We can plan a party; do you think Mic would want to cook with me? We can exchange recipes.” Himiko giggled as she pounced on the other girl, nuzzling into her side. Yui smiled softly as she wrapped an arm around her shoulders and felt the familiar prick of her fangs in the soft skin at the inside of her elbow.
“He’d love that Himi. You have the recipe for that wild rice soup of his already.”
“Oh! We can make cookies; sugar cookies are popular in America during Christmas. We can decorate them however we want.” Izuku grinned, finally securing the metal panel back and watched as the staff collapsed back into its smaller tube form.
“Heh, I can bake the cookies.” Dabi joked, a blue flame flicking through his fingers. He was met with three blank stares. “What? It wasn’t a bad idea, I’m getting better.”
“Dabs…Dabi, sweet, stupid semi-adult in my life…. you have a perma-ban in the kitchen after the bacon incident.” Yui’s voice was deadpan as she shook her head.
“Yeah! And you are not melting my kitchen!” Himiko huffed, crossing her arms over her chest.
“Dabi-nii…it-it’s a really bad idea…sorry.” Izuku bit his lip as he fiddled with his fingers.
“You never appreciate my genius!”
