Izuku’s hands fumbled as he pulled out his phone, still keeping his eye on his sister as her body spasmed, the teal sparks trailing off her body before they disappeared. He dialed the number of the only person he could think of that could help.
“Kid? What’s wrong?” The gruff voice in his ear almost brought tears to his eyes.
“It’s Nee-chan! Sparks started to shoot off her body and she screamed and her hair lit up and her body is twitching and spasming! I think it's her Quirk! I can’t get close without the sparks coming after me! What do I do?!”
“Okay first you need to breathe, you can't help her if you pass out. Big breath in.” Izuku gasped in a breath and held it, “Now let it out…good. Now where are you?”
“At the docks, ab-about fifteen minutes from where we were, on top of some shipping containers…” He rattled off, pacing back and forth as he watched her, the sparks were starting to dissipate in intervals. “I-I think it might be stopping…”
“The docks? I told you both to- no nevermind...I’ll be there soon, Null. Don’t approach her until I get there. If it’s attracted to electricity, your gear could reactivate it.” He could hear shouts in the background before the sound of wind against the speaker, “ETA ten minutes. I’m going to let you go so I have both hands, okay?”
“Y-Yeah, okay…” He sniffled, pushing his goggles up to rub his sleeve against his eyes. He hated this! He couldn’t do anything to help her!
“She’ll be okay, kid. We’ll make sure of it. Just keep breathing.” The line went dead in his hands, he shoved the phone back in the pouch.
“Eraser is on the way, Nee-chan! You’ll be okay!” He called over to her, his hands shaking as he clenched them into fists.

It was like the time she’d shocked herself with the taser on the bo staff, except it didn’t stop after Izu had yanked it away. Her muscles tensed up, and she activated the sensor in the glove and suddenly she was falling when the grappling arrow snapped back into its casing. It took all her concentration to angle her fall so she slammed feet first against the shipping container, pitching into a roll that turned into a skid when her vision turned white and then every nerve was on fire and a scream ripped out of her throat.
There was a pulse beating against her thigh and then there was a pull and the pulse was gone but a current ran across her skin and nerves and bones like needles were being jabbed into her from a sewing machine on overdrive. There was a high-pitched ringing in her ear before a pop and it was gone. Her hands felt so much worse, it was like she’d submerged them in boiling water. Several microchips were crushed between her gloves and skin and she pulled her arms in close and gripped her elbows until her bones creaked and knuckles popped.
“Yui-nee!” Her head snapped up at the voice, but she couldn’t see him, she could feel pulses against her skin like ripples from water. Two smaller ones, and then two that were larger, one was sparking and the other was a steady beat. A beat she could hook into and absorb and drain the lines of code from and leave the shell empty and cold. Then it was moving back and she was a little more herself and not a searching, craving thing.
“Stay away!” There were sparks by her mouth, heat licking along her jaw but the pain was pushed back for a moment with the thought that her brother was in danger of being pulled in by this current in her skin and she couldn’t be the cause of those bright emerald eyes losing their spark. She’d rather roll off this container and end it before she let that happen. “Stay back, Izu!”

Then the current washed back over her and she couldn’t think, couldn’t hear beyond the ringing in her ears and even though her mouth was open to scream, her vocal cords were frozen and no sound would come out. Was it minutes or seconds that passed, hours, days? All she felt was pain and even when it started to ebb, then another burning wave was flicking against her skin.
Then everything shut off, the current was suddenly gone and she could hear Izu scream her name before the white light faded to gray and then everything was black.
“Yui-nee!” Izuku turned to see Eraserhead’s glowing red eyes and floating hair. The man was sweating and panting softly.
“It’ll be okay, Null. The bullet must have contained a new strain of Trigger, we need to get her to the hospital.” Eraser went to step closer to her when he grabbed his arm.
“No! She can't go to a hospital! We’re vigilantes, Eraser!” He blurted out, his eyes wide behind the goggles. There’s no way a hospital wouldn’t hold her for the cops, and the cops would recognize her as Hijack and put her in Tartarus!
“Kid, it's an experimental strain, we don’t know how she’ll react!” The pro argued, still keeping his gaze on Yui-nee's prone form.
“Tr-Trigger strains never last long... the longest one lost its effects after fifty-three minutes. Side effects were increased aggression, fever, migraines, sensitivity to light, touch, and noise...um and I think some people threw up? I can take care of her!” He insisted, his grip tightening on his arm.
Eraserhead sighed, “Fine, no hospitals.” He pulled a patch out of his pocket, “This is a Quirk suppressant patch, I’m going to put this on her so her Quirk doesn’t activate again.” He waited for Izuku to drop his arm, “Stay away from her, her gear looks fried, and if her Quirk is attracted to electricity, you have a taser on your belt.”
He gulped as he stepped back, watching as the pro hero jumped over to the container she was on, before slowly approaching her. He pushed up her hoodie sleeve and the black suit underneath up her arm to stick the patch on her wrist. He scooped her up in his arms, her head leaning against his shoulder.
“What are you doing?” He jumped over to the container, but stayed back, watching for any teal sparks as the glowing red eyes faded, the shaggy black hair falling back around his shoulders.
“You can’t carry her. So I will. You won’t let me take her to a hospital, so you’re going back to my apartment so I can keep an eye on you two.” He held her with one arm before he jumped down, his capture weapon snagging on the edge of the container to slow their descent. He looked up at Izuku from the ground. “You coming, kid?”
Taking a moment to secure Yui to his back, Eraser head pulled out his phone as he sped towards his apartment at a pace Izuku could keep up with. The ring went for several long moments almost radiating a reluctance to pick up, but before it could go to voice mail they answered.
"Hey...I need a favor."

The Edge of Endless
Due to some unforseen and significant life events, this story will be on hiatus for a time. Reborn into a strange but familiar world, Alex makes it his mission to uncover the mysteries of governments, gods, and the arcane realm known only (and inaccurately) as the Unending Depths. Slowly but surely, he grows in ability and meets new and interesting people. tEoE is an epic fantasy LitRPG with a focus on plot, writing, and hopefully original twists on the standard formula of 'MC picks cool class, levels up'. Give it a read if any of the following appeals to you: > 3000-5000 words per chapter, chapters released at least once per week, usually several times. Expect good grammar. > Story focus on illusions, secrets, and traps (along with the usual combat and character stuff). > Progression fantasy, but one where progress is meant to feel earned, moderately paced, and reasonable. Some advantages, but not big, unfair ones. > If a random reader can work out that putting a big rock in a bag of holding, lifting it, and then dropping the rock is free energy, then so could an adventurer who's owned a bag of holding for twenty years. Side characters have brains too. > Blue boxes! Levels! [Classes]! [Skills]! Loot! > No uncomfortable sexist undertones. Ambivalent about including relationships. Definitely no harems. There are a number of arcs planned and this will be ongoing for some time. I am very appreciative of the kind reviews and comments left so far.
