《When Paths Converge: A MHA Fanfic》15.5. Love Bites

Yui’s hand slipped at the high-pitched squeak near her ear, a jolt going up her arm when her fingers grazed the electrified end of her staff. She hissed as she turned to the noise, shaking her hand before she paused. Izuku and Himiko had been snuggled on the couch as they watched a movie, doing one of their ‘spa’ nights. Himiko had started them on Fridays, roping everyone along with her as she tried out facemasks or hair care stuff or new nail polish. She liked to try to tame Izu’s curls, and if the little gremlin had on nail polish, it kept him from biting his nails.
When she turned, she couldn’t help her muscles tensing just a bit. Himiko was biting down on Izuku’s bare shoulder, it looked...gentle? Izuku was looking at her with wide eyes but he didn’t make a move to remove the girl. Yui cleared her throat, “Hey, Himi? You with us?” She tried to keep her voice gentle.
The blonde girl blinked, pulling back quickly, her eyes quickly coming into focus again. Two little drops of blood welled up from the divots her fangs had left in his skin. Her eyes zeroed in on the twin ruby beads before flicking up at Yui, and back, then to Izuku and back. She leaned down opening her mouth her tongue darting out to dab away one of the beads, shivering contently for a moment before her eyes darted up almost looking to them hesitantly, observing their reaction.
Yui looked on with a conflicted expression, but it wasn't the disgust she feared seeing there. Izuku gave a thumbs up looking to Yui and then Himiko looking unsure what to do. Himiko's eyes landed on the thumbs up and grinned before placing her lips on the shoulder and suckling at the little marks contently.
Yui couldn’t help but tilt her head at the action, if it wasn’t hurting the green bean, she guessed it was okay. But why would she do it? She couldn’t help but admit that Himiko was an interesting person. She was almost always chipper, with a seemingly endless fountain of energy, but she’d glimpsed the mellow moments, those amber eyes glazing over as she cut steak or the keen interest with any of her cuts when the pre-teen had cut herself on a wire or sharp metal when she was building something. Yui blinked when Himiko raised her head, amber eyes a bit guarded as she glanced between the two.

“Are you...okay with this? Like, really okay? I know people can be...weirded out by how beautiful blood is...” Her voice was hesitant.
“It’s okay, Himi-chan! It doesn’t hurt, I was just surprised.” Izuku flashed her his sunshine smile, “I think it’s already stopped...I wonder if you have a coagulant in your saliva?”
“Himi, we’re not mad, or disgusted or anything.” Yui slid closer, it was true, she wasn’t disgusted by the girl. Her golden eyes lit up as she sat up straighter, almost vibrating with how happy she was. She couldn’t help but chuckle softly, thinking she looked like an excited golden retriever.
“Do you want a hug?” At the girl’s nod the two pulled her into a hug, Yui’s hand smoothing her hair as Izu rubbed her back. Everyone in this house was so touch-starved, it was becoming a trend that any comfort came with group hugs, even if Dabi was a prima donna about it.
As time passed, the little love nibbles became a common occurrence. It usually happened when Himiko was being really affectionate. Izuku theorized that it had something to do with her Quirk, she needed blood to use it, and a Quirk was just another part of a person, you had to use it or it’d be like missing a piece of yourself. So when someone like Himiko got so happy or affectionate, it was like she lost herself to those feelings to experience that moment as much as possible. It made sense that her Quirk’s influence wasn’t far behind.
Izuku mumbled to himself as he wrote in his notebook, gnawing on his lip as he wrote down any ideas that sprang forth. As the weeks passed the little love nibbles, they only ever made a few drops of blood well out from her fangs, were a normal part of being a family member. Himiko was more careful with Dabi because of his still-healing skin, but even he’d let her give a little nibble to the back of his hand.
“Alright, if she needs blood though, then we need to make sure there’s some ground rules.” Yui said, making sure to meet amber eyes as she spoke, “Dabi is sorta off limits, at least until he’s fully healed. I think the hands are okay? Just make sure you wash your hands before and after. I don’t mind if you want to nibble me, it’s not something that bothers me if you give me a little warning. What about you, Izu?”

“If it helps Himi-chan, I don’t mind! We can find out more about your Quirk too,” He beamed up at her.
“Okay, so yeah. Consent is very important. Everyone has to be willing, is that a good first rule?”
“Y-Yui-nee...y-you made it sound like...” Izuku’s face was a little flushed, Dabi snorted out a laugh.
“You are all too young for a sex talk.” He snickered.
“Yeah, and I doubt we would ever want to get that talk from you.” Yui rolled her eyes, “Anyway. We don’t exactly have access to hospitals, and the only place similar I can think of...I’d never take any of you there. And we don’t know if your Quirk protects you from blood born diseases. And I wouldn’t know how to start to figure that out. So, just be selective with who you nibble.”
“I don’t really want to nibble anyone but you guys! I just...I feel safe.” Himiko shrugged, kicking her legs a bit as she watched them, smiling sweetly, “It’s like I feel lighter! Something I didn’t notice that felt off is suddenly gone. Like I was wearing my shoes on the wrong feet from my whole life and someone just pointed it out.”
“Well that makes sense.” Izuku looked up at her, “You were repressing your Quirk, and now you don’t have to, I can only imagine that’d be a...freeing experience.”
She giggled, “And now I can become my favorite people! We can have so much fun!”
“We can work on your acting! If you can get a feel for the person, you’d be able to take their place and gather information!” Izuku smiled wide as he leaned up.
“And we can prank people!” The girl giggled, clapping her hands together.
“You aren’t allowed to prank me. I’m still finding glitter in my room.” Dabi grumbled, crossing his arms over his chest.
“Aww Zombie! You know you're never safe from us!” Himiko grinned wolfishly at the older teen.
"You two have been so energetic lately," he groaned out before he glared at her, “And if I try to use my fire to get you off my back, Yui uses the damned fire extinguisher on me.”
“Ohhh poor big bad old lad Dabi. You can’t handle two kids?” She taunted with a playful rhyme, Izuku grinning at him, his eyes glinting with mischief.
“You two better not-” He yelped as the two pulled slingshots from their hoodie pockets, bright pink paint splattering his shirt as he scrambled away from them, the two gremlins in pursuit.
Yui shook her head, she couldn’t stop the slight smile as she settled back on the couch, browsing through some medical websites, she should be able to get blood bags, right? If they could store their blood, it might help Himi’s urges, and she and Izu could use it to do their experiments.
“Dammit Yui! I thought you bought leashes for them when they’re like this?” She heard a thump before Dabi’s rasping cackle drifted out from the hall. Guess they’d started the tickle tactic, her eyes flicking to the candy wrappers stuffed under the couch....
“Dabi, you’re on your own. I’ll raise a toast to your memory.”

I don't update it as often as I should, but there is a fair amount of content there already. It also contains a page with all the fanart, fan translations, audio books and the like - you can reach it directly by clicking this link. I have a patreon account for those kind people that want to give me money. It also contains info for those who want to donate via paypal. The story was originally posted on fictionpress, back in 2011. When I reached chapter 91, I started uploading the story to RoyalRoad, one chapter per day. The story will continue to be updated on fictionpress as well as here, and can be reached by clicking on this link if somebody is interested, though at this point there is nothing there that isn't also on RoyalRoad. ********************************** The cover you see on the side has been made by a fellow RoyalRoad user Sydorow. A Soul's Wish
Hey everyone! Just a heads up. I am adding the Traumatising content tag because some parts might be considered as, well, traumatising. I want to point out though, it is not my aim to make a story that focuses on this aspect. Yuki is a college freshman that has been pulled into a fantasy world full of magic and monsters. Without any special talents, at level one, and with only a mere wisp as a companion he will need to figure out how to survive in the hostile environment. As he grows stronger and travels across this new world, he will find friends, make enemies, learn betrayal, overcome obstacles and grow into a hero. Hopefully. His goal? To save a princess, of course. A classic adventure fantasy story set in another world. Cover by the lovely Sara Lucasi Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/saralucasi/
