《When Paths Converge: A MHA Fanfic》11. Promises and Threats

Yui knew she was a violent person, and that she had a different view compared to most when it came to hurting people. You didn’t grow up with villain parents and come out completely sane and moral.
So promising not to burn down the school and not skin the explosion brat was pushing her patience.
As she listened to the moronic principal blather on about procedure and how she couldn’t just pull Izuku from school in the middle of November 'just because of a few burns,' she could feel a tick start in her eye.
Her hands slammed the desk with enough force to crack it. The principal squawked jumping back in his chair. Her voice came out icy as she glared up at him. “You listen to me. After his mother’s passing, his father sent me to take care of him. I’m legally an adult due to my emancipated status. I had your records changed to reflect this after Izuku came back from spring break. If I find your school lacking by not protecting a ten year old boy from the abuse of his peers and the negligence of your teachers, I have every right to pull him out and you will sign these forms and rectify all bogus marks against his record! Unless you want me to take you to court with the evidence I have compiled against this poor excuse for a school!”
She held up a flash drive, “Izuku didn’t know I planted a camera on him. I have evidence of your little golden boy using his Quirk against other kids and destroying property. And evidence of your teachers ignoring it or shifting the blame to the victims!” Well, the footage was from their own school cameras that she had accessed, but lying to this piece of shit wouldn’t keep her up at night.
“Now, you’ll do as I say to make this all go away. Izuku doesn’t want to cause a scene, but I will if you don’t let me take Izuku out of here with a clean slate.” Her voice growled out and she had to suppress a grin when the blood drained from his face and he nodded so fast she thought his head might fly off his neck.
He rushed to pull up the records and clear them, showcasing the results. “Good, now make sure you sign these and file your copies. And if that changes, I will know.” She promised, sliding two packs of paper that she’d already signed across the desk.

Yui heard him swallow before his pen signed and dated the forms. Once he was done she dropped the flash drive and crunched it under her heel. She picked up her copy of the forms, “I have a backup of that. Don’t make me use it.” She turned and left the room, leaving the man shaking in his seat.
Yui waited outside the office, trying not to tap her heel on the polished flooring. Somei academy was prestigious, and if they hadn’t already spent the time making sure Izuku passed his grade acceleration tests, she probably would have enrolled him. But having him test out of a physical school would look better on his transcripts.
And she’d already paid the enrollment fees, so why did it matter if his first official day would be his last?
The door finally opened after six hours, Izuku stepping out nervously smiling up at the principal, shaking her hand. The woman turned warm eyes and a kind smile to her. “Ms. Midoriya, your cousin is a bright young man. I doubt you’ll be disappointed in the test results when they are mailed out.”
Her hand ruffled through green curls, “I could never be disappointed. Thank you though ma'am. Hearing that from someone else beside me should convince him that he’s gifted,” she grinned as his face turned red in embarrassment.
“Yui-nee…” he groaned, his eyes flicking up to the principal.
The woman just giggled, “Young man, did I ever tell you what my Quirk was?” at his head shake she continued “I see auras, the brighter they are, the more potential a person has at a successful future. It’s very useful in selecting promising students,”
He gulped, gripping the bottom of the sweater he was wearing. “A-And mine…?”
She smiled brightly at him, “Its positively radiant,”
“Yui-nee! The test results are here!” She looked up at the shout, pushing the goggles up and turning off the soldering gun. She sat back as he ran into the room, holding the packet with Somei's insignia.
He plopped down beside her and shoved the packet into her hands. She chuckled “Don’t you want to open it?”
He shook his head “You do it…if it’s bad news you can torch it.” His voice shook as he stared at her hands.
Yui shook her head as she cracked open the seal and pulled out the first stack of paper. She grinned at the first sentence on the page. “Dear Izuku Midoriya, it is with heartfelt congratulations…”

He stood up with a shout, jumping up and down like a rabbit high on caffeine. She chuckled as she read it over silently, she cleared her throat, raising an eyebrow before he fell silent. He still rocked on his heels, but the energy had to go somewhere.
“We are pleased to inform you, that Mr. Midoriya scored in the top ninety percentile in all tests. You can see a breakdown below, Yada yada…inside are certifications showing Izuku Midoriya’s completion of his elementary and secondary schooling.”
“I did it! I passed out of middle school!” he jumped up and down, whooping.
She chuckled as she pulled out a breakdown of the tests results and the certifications and diploma for middle school. She blinked, pulling out one last sheet of paper.
“Izu…the principal sent a personal letter...”
He blinked, taking it in shaking hands to read it. Yui stood to read over his shoulder.
“Dear Izuku Midoriya,
I hope you are satisfied with your results? While I may mourn the loss of such a bright student in our classrooms, thank you for allowing Somei Academy to play a small part in your heroic pursuit.
Normally, I would not recommend a person without a Quirk to pursue a future in heroics. But after speaking with you in the interview after your tests, I find myself changing my belief. You have changed my perspective, Izuku, which is no easy feat.
In regard to our talk, I have enclosed a recommendation letter, which is now in your academic file. The letter should provide an adequate introduction so you can take the U.A. entrance exam once you reach the age. It is my wish for you to show people your light, and to astound them with your radiance.
Principal of Somei Academy,
Sakura Akemi.”
The night was quiet, even the moon hadn’t emerged from behind the clouds to grace her way. She could hear the grunts from here. Katsuki Bakugou trained late on Friday nights, attacking a training dummy in the backyard until ten o’clock.
Yui had on one of the suits under her black leggings and dark teal hoodie, the sneakers muffling her steps. She didn’t bother to hide her hair, she had on a black face mask that had a voice modulator that gave her a more feminine voice. She had on large teal goggles over her eyes, she’d built her gear herself and was so satisfied with how the goggles had turned out.
They had night and infra-red vision, they were able to locate electric currents and had a zoom feature. She almost had another pair in green finished.
She jumped the fence with ease, watching as the boy froze, his eyes wide. He opened his mouth to shout when she sprang. Her gloved hand slapped against his mouth as her leg swept his feet out from beneath him. She grabbed the wrist of the hand that started to spark at her face, forcing the palm against his back as he slammed into the ground, his other hand pinned between his body and the ground.
“Wow, that was easier than I thought. The little Pomeranian is all bark and weak bite.” Her voice came out light and teasing before she dug her fingers into his jaw.
“Now you’re going to listen to me. Or I’m going to make you wish you’d taken a swan dive off a roof.” He froze under her at the words. “You remember that, huh? I thought you were going to be a hero? Heroes don’t tell their friends to do that, they don’t torment and burn them for six fucking years. You want to be a hero? You better start getting anger therapy. You better start being a better person or you’ll wake up one day with me standing above you. And I will put you through so much pain, you’ll beg me for death, do you understand me?”
She listened to the ragged breathing against her hand, the pulse racing under his flesh. Eventually there was a jerky nod. She grinned, “Good boy~ Don't forget, I’ll be keeping my eye on you.” She shoved his face in the dirt as she sprang up, disappearing behind the fence before the sounds of explosions echoed through the neighborhood.
