《Reincarnated as the companion of a God》Chapter 38: Ready for the battle

After this week I could finally move with some freedom, I was going to the room they gave us to rest hoping to meet my brothers and get ready for today's fight. On the way I met Mykos, it was certainly weird to see him here, since our duel I didn't see him as he never walked around this area.
When he saw me he started to approach me.
[Mykos]: "Oh, hello Kaiba at last you are well as far as I can see, I came to see how you are in your room and I thought they had not let you out yet.
[Kaiba]: "I went out a while ago, with Ignar's permission."
[Mykos]: "I see that you are still growing at an alarming rate, it seems a lie that you are how many months old, two right?
[Kaiba]: "Yes I'm two months old, it's so rare to grow so fast, I mean, even if I don't know about normal growth, I think this is a bit of an exaggeration too".
[Mykos]: "Normally it takes about two years to reach your body shape and it's already an accelerated one, I also have the knowledge that some like you tried but they had quite bad consequences making themselves weaker than normal, but you break all the rules and your siblings too".
[Kaiba]: (I'll have to ask the system later but it seems to me that the ability of the double experience has something to do with it, otherwise as Mykos said my brothers would not have been able to keep up with the pace of evolution).
[Kaiba]: "The truth is that I can't answer you, I also have many doubts about it, maybe one day I will be able to say what I really am and why I am here, but for now, I will focus on training and being with my brothers, you never know what could happen, I already had a bad experience and I don't want it to happen again".
[Mykos]: "I don't know what happened with your parents and they never told me, but let's change the subject. I came because I wanted you to meet the others before you joined us for training, as I told you before you left, because they only know you by sight, more than what our father told them.

[Kaiba]: "Oh, of course because I won't let my brothers know too since you said they could come.
[Mykos]: "Yes, no problem, but I warn you beforehand, there is a lot of competition between us and maybe they don't treat you well at the beginning and be careful with Ersas, it can be like getting attached to someone and doing horrible things later, they are also a bit nervous since the disappearance of Queen Zomryr our mother."
[Kaiba]: "Ah that's the dragon that Ignar mentioned, he didn't tell me her name but he said that someone disappeared"
[Mykos]: "Just don't bring it up there, otherwise just show your strength and you'll be fine. ”
Kaiba]: "I expected this from your performance at the beginning, but look at you at the end you turned out to be quite nice.
[Mykos]: "I respect anyone who deserves it, if only other dragons had your resolve I wouldn't have to act like this. Besides, in the beginning you were suspicious, a royal dragon that comes from nowhere and whose parents were not at all close to this blood type because of their characteristics.
[Kaiba]: "Certainly but I am not adopted or anything to the extent that I know, perhaps if I find it I can ask but I doubt it.
[Mykos]: "Well, they'll be around the training area today if you want to go.
Kaiba]: "I have to settle the duel with Ignar first so he'll let me out of the castle.
[Mykos]: "You're an idiot!"
Mykos suddenly shouted when I told him about the duel.
[Mykos]: "You really want to spend another season in bed without being able to move, Ignar is one of the most powerful dragons here, not to mention the one with the most combat experience.
[Kaiba]: "I know but I have my reasons, what would you do if you could bring back to someone you care about?
[Mykos]: "I may have done the same stupid thing, but who are you looking for?"
[Kaiba]: "My father, I'm sure he's close to this forest, as far as I know, well I wouldn't know how to answer the reason why I know it.

Mykos]: "Okay, look, if you manage to come out of that fight not victorious but more or less unscathed, I'll help you, to look for him. You know, next time you can ask for these things, I told you that I consider you a worthy opponent and I gave you all my respect, so I will help you.
Kaiba]: "Oh really, thank you Mykos, maybe when we look for him I can find out what happened to our mother and him that day.
[Mykos]: "I'll leave you, I'll come and see you in the arena I guess, although I don't know if I'm ready to see such a beating, good luck you'll need it".
Suddenly Mykos stood up on his hind legs and gave me a hug?
[Kaiba]: "Eh?!"
[Mykos]: "It's just a gesture of encouragement the humans used for the people they feel sorry for.
[Kaiba]: "Well thank you for the encouragement."
After that Mykos said goodbye and left. I went back to my initial way and talked to my brothers for a while. Luna kills me herself when she hears all about the mourning and such but when I mentioned about our father, they were anxious for me to at least have a chance.
After a little exercise that I did with my brothers to catch up as my muscles were still a little tense from not exercising them for a while.
It was time to go, we all went to the arena that Ignar designated for me and I'm not going to lie I got lost and I had to ask for help to the some dragonborn of the place to find the room, once there I went to the arena and my brothers went to the stands that were there, there I could see Mykos and another Royal dragon that if I'm not mistaken was that Ersas.
Soon I saw Ignar enter, and here I am a dragon of about three meters high and six meters long against a beast that tripled my size, but good that it could go wrong, really everything.
Ignar]: "A few words before I send you back.
[Kaiba]: "..."
[Ignore]. "Okay, then let's start you know the rules."
Luckily there was little audience, and I didn't have to hide my element that I tried to hide in a not very efficient way I have to say, but first I will start to test Ignar to see how much difference there is.
And here we are now.
I have to say that I noticed a rise in temperature in the room, a gigantic ball of fire rushing towards me.
I quickly created a wall of ice in front of me to stop the huge fireball coming towards me, how naive I was to hope that this would stop it, the difference in power was too high to give me time to form a wall strong enough to stop it.
It may not look like it but the size of the fireball was reduced, as a last attempt I tried to use my ice breath to stop it but without much hope.
I activated my ability to increase my speed, on the spot my body compressed a bit, with this burst of speed I was able to take some distance but this damn thing kept following me.
As I tried to get away it kept cursing me internally for accepting this damned challenge from Ignar, clearly it was going to beat me up, me a dragon with a few months how could I defeat that thing.

Remorse
I have killed many people over my long life. Men, women, children. None have escaped the shadows that I control. It was only one tiny mistake that I made that changed my life forever. I underestimated her, and I would pay for my hubris. “For every death you have given, you will feel their pain.” What? “For every person you have killed, you will feel regret.” Wait, wait… “For every murder you have commited, you will know what you have done.” I don’t think this is going to be pretty. The power leaves her voice as she continues in a softer tone. “I will give you back what you have lost, you will feel empathy again.” Her power releases me and I fall to the ground. Diana. That was her name. I will remember it. ******** This story starts out somewhat dark, but it will lighten up after the first chapter. I tend to not enjoy the psychological tag too much since stories with the tag tend to be a little insane for my liking, but I feel that I would be remiss not putting it on this story, since a lot of it is about the psychology of the main character. All the content warnings are checked since I want to leave my options open to me for the future. I hope you enjoy.
