《Reincarnated as the companion of a God》Chapter 35: Kaiba's Awakening

[Kaiba]: (Well I've been going for what seems like days without sleeping in here and I don't seem to need it, but after all these days I feel like I'm going to collapse, maybe I should rest my mind for a while)
I closed my eyes trying to sleep and fell asleep.
….
….
….
….
….
….
….
I began to regain consciousness, and I felt my whole body aching and burning in my chest.
Kaiba]: (Why does my whole body suddenly ache?) I let out a low grunt because of the pain I felt when trying to move.
[Kaiba]: Grr.....
I looked around and this time I was no longer in that blank space but now I was in a room, similar to the room I was in with my brothers in the castle.
It seems that when I tried to move and when I opened my eyes a dragonborn said something, but I didn't end up finding out about it as I was still quite dazed.
After a while I felt a little better, but not even enough to get up even if I tried for some reason knowing that it was not a good idea in this state.
Soon after finishing my frustrated attempts to move Ignar arrived and behind him my dragon brothers.
At first Ignar stopped them from coming after me and the first one came in with a boat full of some kind of liquid.
[Ignar]: "Kaiba, how do you feel?
[Kaiba]: "....Ho..rrible"
Ignar]: "Well, you'll get better. You should take this since you arrived, you didn't eat or drinked anything.
Ignar opened the bottle and gave me a drink. I honestly expected something that tasted disgusting but my mouth was so dry that I couldn't even taste some of the liquid and maybe it was for the better.

When I finished it it seemed that some of the pain in my abdomen had subsided, so it was probably because I hadn't eaten anything for a few days.
[Ignar]: "I don't think I have to say it but, don't even think about moving for a few days, forcing yourself now will make it take longer to recover, I'll let your brothers go now and tell them in advance about it, so they don't get too excited".
Ignar withdrew and let them pass but not without first saying something to him.
Moon and Rhegal started to enter but Drake passed over them and ran inside stopping a few inches from my face.
Kaiba]: "Nervous as ever eh."
[Drake]: "Kaiba you finally wake up! Everyone was worried about you waking up again, but I knew you would, that's why you are one of the strongest dragons I know.
[Kaiba]: "Thank you, Drake, it's good to see you again.
Rhaegal]: "The more trouble you're going to get into before you stop giving us these scares, it's been two since we left home.
Luna: "If you should stop doing these crazy things, but first..."
Luna throws himself on Drake's back, knocking him to the ground
Luna: "Drake they told you about going easy."
Moon hit him a couple of times on the head with his tail
[Drake]: "Okay I'm sorry"
I swear I saw Drake shed a tear after that Moon stood next to Drake.
[Luna]: "Kaiba, how are you, you've been unconscious for a week now, even though you did something weird while you were in that state.
Kaiba]: "What I have done?
[Luna]: "I don't know maybe you suddenly grow faster than us and some curtains are disappearing.
[Kaiba]: "Now that you mention it..."
I looked at my body and if what Moon was saying was true I had grown a bit more even though I looked a bit thinner than usual.

Kaiba]: "Yes, I'm better than before in fact, that thing that Ignar gave me worked a lot better than I expected, before I could hardly say a word.
[Ignar]: "Well I'm glad to know that you are better, for now, let's go, I'll leave you, with someone to watch you in case you need something, you need to rest so nothing of your crazy ideas or you'll have a bad time.
[Kaiba]: ".."
[Ignar]: To be clear, I don't only mean the consequences of your current condition but also from my side, you will be severely punished, it was a mistake to give you so much freedom, so it is my responsibility that you recover and don't kill yourself".
[Kaiba]: "Okay, but don't worry I can't even stand up by myself..."
[Ignar]: "Well, let's go and let him rest."
Everyone left the room except the Dragonborn from before or that I think was the same as before, I couldn't see well when I got up either.

8 308BattleField - A Never-Ending Nightmare
Twenty-Three million souls. It takes twenty-three million souls to feed the horrors of the Great Beyond for a soul to cross over and land amongst the living. Still, after eons untold, its final crossing shall take place in blood-soaked lands, driving fear into the hearts of its inhabitants. Alistair finds little wrong with himself, that's not considering he somehow was the last living being to have taken part in a battle to decide the fate of the Human world. He remembers walking shoulder to shoulder with his brothers in arms, being showered in the viscera of his closest friends. He also remembers being stabbed by a twelve foot monstrosity as it picked him up with its sharpened blade of a hand, relishing his stunned expression and the soon to be blossoming of pain as it brought him closer to its putrid mouth. And yet, here he stood in a silent battlefield littered with bodies for acres of land. What the hell was he supposed to do now? And equally important, what the hell was he supposed to do with this orb of golden light?!

If you like complex character studies, gritty worlds, and shocking twists, then you’ll love D. B. Goodin’s outlander opus. Note: This should be read after Sonorous. This story has been published, but I'm adding it here for Royal Road readers to enjoy.
