《Hero Status: Revoked》Arc 1 - 48 - Baby Don't Hurt Me

Kyle did some things to the baby that he saw the healing mage do with Claire, then he took a cloth and wrapped that baby with horns in it. and he saw that it was a boy and also had a stub for a tail. Kyle held the baby mostly in his left arm while he looked at the wide flow of blood that poured over the bed and the floor of the house. Kyle heard someone panting behind him, so he turned and looked in it's direction.
"What are you doing!?" Yelled Kyle as he backed away from the crazed father. The look on his face had changed into one from a man who belonged in an insane asylum. The sweat that developed on his forehead and slowly dripped down his face, was now from terror and rage.
The man took a step forward and adjusted the knife in his hand. He looked down at it and the handle almost slipped from his grasp. The knife was steel, and about 7 inches long. The man had used it to chop vegetables for his wife's cooking just the day before, and he could still see small streaks of green from where the kale was cut.
"I have to do this!" The man yelled back at Kyle as he re-positioned the knife in his hand, ready to strike. He knew exactly what he had to do in this situation. He knew about the small chance of this event happening, about one in every 300 births was one. He was just sad it happened to his first child.
"You don't have to do anything!" Kyle looked down at the baby in his arms for only a second before turning his gaze back to the man with the knife. It was a crazy situation from the start. He had never delivered a baby before, but he was in the room when Claire was born, so it was not like he had never seen it done.
The baby was crying uncontrollably. Kyle did not know much about a newborn baby, so he could not say if the huge puddle of blood on the ground was normal. He knew Kathy did not produce so much, but he honestly couldn't remember such an unimportant detail. The baby's tail was wiggling against Kyle's arm as he held the baby in his left arm. Kyle's right arm was stretched out to stop the knife if it was thrown or if the man lunged.
"Demon spawn!" The man stepped forward and lunged at Kyle with the knife held high. His first step with his right foot got started the momentum towards Kyle, and the next step with his left foot increased it.
The man only had two steps before Kyle had cast [Slow] on the man, and his movement almost stopped. Half way through his 2nd step, the man slowed down to an abnormal speed. Ordinarily if he had angled his body in such a way, the man would have fallen over. However, under the effects of [Slow] external forces are also slowed. If something was to hit the man, it would slow down too. If the man jumped, he would descend slower.

"It's a... It's a beast-kin!" The woman shrieked. It was only because of Kyle's magic that she was still alive, but she was somehow able to yell in her position. Her voice rang loud, like a woman who was having her child being taken away, mostly because she was a woman having her child taken away.
"This is a beast-kin?" Kyle looked at the baby in his arms. It looked like a mix between a human and a demon. Horns and tails were characteristics of the demons that lived in the area Thornberry was located, but demon were hatched from eggs, not birthed.
"We have to kill the beast-kin... we have to! Kill the beast-kin!" The woman now fully supported the baby she almost died giving birth to being killed. She was unable to get up from the bed, and would need someone else to kill the beast-kin.
"What is wrong with you all? It's just a baby." Kyle looked down at the crying baby. Sure it's horns were a little strange, but a hat would fix that, or they could be removed. Kyle could not understand what made someone want to kill something they had prepared them-self to love.
"Is there a beast-kin in here?" A 1st district citizen was passing by and heard the talk, and he put his head in the door. He looked around, and saw the baby in Kyle's hands. The man was a citizen of the empire, and all citizens of the empire knew that to do with beast-kin. Kill them.
"There's a beast-kin here!" The man stepped out of the house and yelled into the street.
"Fuck! [Silence]" Kyle cast silence on the man who yelled, but it was too late. Kyle made sure he would not drop the baby, and then he ran out into the street. Some people were looking at the house, and then they saw Kyle exit they started talking.
"Is that a beast-kin over there?"
"The masked mage is a beast-kin sympathizer?"
"Get him!" Someone yelled, and 5 people started to close in on Kyle. Kyle looked around and stepped into an alleyway. Once inside, he tried to use abiit form.
"Damn!" The abiit form was able to make himself invisible, but not that baby in his arms. Kyle had never tried to make another living creature invisible too.
"He went down there!" Someone yelled and a couple people showed at the end of the alleyway Kyle just came from. Kyle ran down the ally and used [Haste] on himself to go faster.
Kyle ran from alleyway to alleyway and between houses in the 1st district for at least 10 minutes before giving up trying to lose his pursuers.
"Shit, I need to hide somewhere..." Kyle thought as he ran from ally to alleyway, as more and more people began to chase him. He could not help but speak out loud as he rested against a wall. Kyle was almost 9 years old, and was not really to be doing so much running.
'[Transmute]' Kyle used earth magic to block off both ends of the alleyway. There were houses on both sides of him that he did not use Transmute on, and they had a few windows. He would have to use [Transmute] to close those too if they opened.

Kyle looked down at the baby in his arms and it would make hiding almost impossible if he didn't use Status magic. '[Silence]' Kyle cast the spell for good measure and saw on the ground, breaking heavy.
"He's in here!" Some people were hitting the walls of stone Kyle had made, but they were not able to get to him.
"Come out Masked Mage! We just want the beast-kin!" Everyone was seriously devoted to the teachings of Saint Ajoras. Saint Ajoras taught that all non-humans should be killed, and beast-kin were no exception.
'I could just fly out of here...' Kyle thought about using more magic to get away had he head his head from the headache he was getting. Running across the entire 1st district of Thornberry with a baby in his arms was tiring.
"Hey mage, come here."
'What was that?' Kyle looked around and could no see anyone around. Nobody had climbed his stone walls, and it sounded nearby.
"Down here mage." Kyle looked down and saw the window to a cellar. It had been pitch dark a minute ago when he came into the ally, but now it was a little brighter.
"What do you want?" Kyle asked as he prepared to use magic.
"We want to help the beast-kin, just like you." The voice said from inside the cellar, and it moved back.
"Come through the window and I can get you out of there."
'I don't have many other options...' Kyle thought about what he could do. He could continue running, use Fly to escape, or go with the mysterious stranger.
"Take the baby while I climb in." '[Flame]' Kyle cast flame to light the room, and he could see someone in a cloak.
'Just to be safe... [Charm]' It was one of his least used status spells. It would make whomever was effected by it infatuated with the caster.
"I'll take anything you give me." A much more girly voice spoke this time and the woman in the cloak held out her hands to take the baby. Kyle handed the baby over and climbed in.
"So what are we doing now?" Kyle asked as he looked around. It was a very plain room.
"We could go upstairs and take a room, or something..." Such was the effect of the charm spell. It was dangerous.
"No, let's go to a safe place though, that would be better." Kyle would have to lead the woman to give him the answers he wanted or perform certain actions.
"Oh okay, we can go down here." The woman pulled a hatch on the floor and opened a big lid. It lead to the sewer.
"It's really safe in here."
"Okay, hand me that baby back while I go down." The woman gave Kyle the baby back and Kyle went down the ladder into the sewer. It was a long ladder, and Kyle was once again glad he had the brown cloak on. His clothes and the red string he wore under them would be protected from everything nasty in the sewer.
The woman followed after Kyle and closed the entrance, then she looked around the sewer.
"We should go this way. I have a base where it is really safe." The woman happily lead Kyle deeper into the sewer and around a few bends. She stopped at a huge iron door and inserted a key to unlock it and walked in.
"Lorenz, we got another one." The woman was very happy about what she did, but the man in the room had a different reaction.
"Human!" The man threw something at Kyle, but Kyle saw it coming and blocked it with his hand.
'Is this pocket sand?' Kyle looked at the small beads in his hand that looked like sand he had seen in rivers and streams before.
"What did you bring a human here for?" The man called Lorenz asked the woman, but before the woman could say anything, Kyle saw something strange about the man.
"Are you elves?" Kyle could see long ears on the man, and he could remember the elven elders he saw at the king's palace 3,000 years ago. He had only seen 2 elves his entire life, but they each had long ears like the man in front of him.
"He even recog-" The man did not stop talking, but instead it was Kyle who stopped listening. Kyle was lingering on the border of Nirvana.
POV: Lorenz
What just happened to the human?
"What is this?" Eva wants to know what just happened, but I don't know.
"I don't know. It was just the normal mana-disruption-powder. It doesn't have poison in it or anything." It really was the standard mana-disruption-powder. He just shouldn't be able to use mana for a week or two, not collapse.
"Oh my, the baby!" Oh wow, I just saw the baby in the humans arms. Aw, such a little cutie. Two horns, and a tail... might have patterns when it gets older... No, we need to do something about the human.
"What should we do with the human?" We could just leave him here...
"We should take him with us." Eva, what are you thinking? We can't... well...
"Yeah, we should find out what he did to brainwash you, and why his reaction to the mana-disruption-powder was so large. We can study this better back in the kingdom."
"Yep, let's take them both back."
"I'll carry the human and you carry the baby." It might take us longer to get back to the kingdom, but for the sake of discovering another weapon to use against the humans, and finding a counter to the strange magic this one used, it is our duty to bring this research subject back to the kingdom.
