POV: Random 26 Year old Woman, 2nd district, July 19th 3004

Something really strange has been happening lately. Every day when I go from my house to the market... something touches me. I have no idea what it is, because when I look down there is nothing there. I'm really scared...

POV: Kyle Mercer, 2nd district, September 6th 3005

Having my hero status revoked was the best thing that ever happened to me. I am king of breast, a connoisseur of chest sizes. Fear me, bow before me! Hahahaha!

"Kyle it's time to get ready for your first day of school!"

That was Elena, my human host in this world. She and one other human have been telling me I have to go to school for the last month, but why would a god go to school?

It's fine though, my divine responsibilities can wait for one day while I show these mortals why I don't need school.

"Yes mom, coming." Kyle trained for 2 years in the art of fighting and has gathered knowledge from hundreds of erotic novels in the library. Together with his new ability he had dubbed 'tangeret' Kyle thinks of himself as a god. Unfortunately for him, a god is not exempt from going to school.

They had already eaten breakfast that morning and because Elena was going to be with Kyle the whole first day of school, Dave was going to be left with Kathy for the day.

"Dave, put your shirt on."

"Yes mom." Dave had a small amount of trouble putting his shirt on, but Kyle would help him. It was his duty to assist those who lived in his palace.

"Lift your arms Dave." Kyle held the shirt and pulled it over Dave for him. All of Dave's clothes came from the ones Kyle used to wear.

"We are all ready? Then let's go." Elena hurried Kyle and Dave out the door and closed it behind them. The first day of the EDME was a big deal, and it would be effecting the next 3 years for Kyle.

The Mercers first when to the Drought's home to drop off Dave.

"Thanks, Kathy, I'm just so excited for my little genius to be going to school!" Elena was overjoyed. Elena's parents said she had a chronic disease that kept her from going to school, but Kyle would get no such help from her.

"Kyle, come in and play." Claire was at the door and was upset every day that Kyle did not come over. He still visited the Drought home every few days after the first week of his tangeret power, and every time Claire was strange as always. Kyle was not oblivious to the problems this might cause in the future though, so he was training her to live without him. A few days at a time, Kyle was not coming for longer and longer amounts of time. He was now at 17 days.

"I can't Claire, I have to go to school." Kyle did not want to go to school, but he did not want Claire to be dependent on him forever. It was best to ease her off, and today was not a scheduled meet day.

"I can go to school too." Claire was very enthusiastic. She was hopping and would readily agree to go anywhere if Kyle was there too. Claire did not know what school was.

"No, you can't yet." It was true that Claire could not go to school. She was 3, and in two years then she would have her turn.

"Yeah I can." Claire did not understand that, though; to her school was a place like a noodle shop. Anyone could enter.

"Claire, let Kyle and Elena go to school. You have Dave to play with today." Kathy finally interrupted and dragged Claire away from the door as she also closed it.

"Uh, but I want to play with Kyyyyyyyyylllllllllllllllle" The center of Kyle's name was able to stretch out very far, but by the time Claire was half way through, both Elena and Kyle had left the door and were on their way to the school in the 3rd district.

"Kyle, you should go over to Kathy's more often." Elena said to him as they walked down the street. Elena still went frequently with Dave, and sometimes Kathy came to her house too, but Kyle always told her he was going to the library.

It was very well recorded that women liked muscular men, and after learning everything he could from the erotic novels, Kyle went out to make himself the ideal man.

The ideal five-year-old man.

Five-year-old.

Five.

Kyle had seen that the school had children going into it from September 12th to May 24th, so he knew the general layout of the school year, but that was too much time. To be stuck in prison for so long, it would be unbearable. To ease his suffering a little bit, Kyle hoped to get a seat by the window in the back.

It was a technique shown in 'The bad student and the very bad teacher' where the student sat in the back of the class to give himself an air to mysteriousness. When girls came up to talk to him, he would just look out the window and ignore them, even if nothing was happening outside.

After a few weeks of this, the teacher approached him and *cough* they did the dirty deed. The story was set in a universe where people went to school at the age of 20 though, so it might not apply too well to a class of 5-year old's.

Kyle knew most of the stories would not apply very well, but with minimal changes, he could make them work. Probably.

It would be a waste to go to Kathy's house when he had so many techniques to test out.

"Wow look, Kyle, there are so many kids your age!" Elena was looking around at the other children, most of the smaller ones had parents with them but the older ones did not.

As they got closer to the school, Elena took out a letter she got from the school a few weeks ago. It informed her that Kyle was required to go to school and what class he was in. It also had the list of reasons someone would be exempt from going, but that list was hidden from Kyle who tried to steal it multiple times.

"Okay Kyle, let's go to room B-1."

The school year system for the Thornberry Public School was simple. There were 3 classes in each grade, Class A, B, and C. The grades stopped at third, so a student would move from class A-1 to A-2 then to A-3. They had the same room for the whole 3 years and the teachers changed places. These 9 classes took in, on average, 30 students each for a total of under 300 students in the whole school.

Kyle was just one of these 300 students.

Just as he wanted, Kyle took the rear seat by the window. The window only looked out at the crescent, but it was better than looking in the classroom. Anything they taught him here would be a total waste. He already knew words and enough numbers to get by.

"Kyle, someone sat next to you." Elena was poking Kyle's shoulder because someone sat down next to him.

Kyle looked over and saw perhaps the most gloomy person he had ever seen. He knew just from that first look that they were kindred spirits and would be great friends. It was a girl his age, every kid in the classroom was his age because they started school at 5, and she had dark blonde hair stopping at the shoulders.

"Hi, I'm Kyle." Kyle said, trying to be nice.

"fdjndfsljdfsj" the person next to him said with their head in their arms on the desk. They didn't even look up.

"Hahaha, me too!" Kyle laughed and went back to sulking at his desk. Elena frowned at the unfortunate interaction and just watched from behind. Most of the students had parents in the back of the room looking at their children, but Elena could not find one for the girl.

The girl raised her head a little when Kyle finished laughing but put it back down when she saw his expression. They really did feel the same about school.

A few minutes later and without conversation from Kyle, the teacher walked in the room.

"Good morning students and parents. I am the words teacher, Mrs. Skorva."

Mrs. Skorva was at least 50 years old and had tits not even Kyle would grope. Her gray hair and glasses instantly shattered Kyle's hopes and dreams of a bombshell teacher like in the erotic novels. He was devastated.

"I suppose I should start with an introduction of myself. I have been teaching words here in Thornberry for over 20 years and some of the younger parents could have had me as a words teacher."

Kyle looked behind him and saw a few people nodding their heads. They were all very young and probably had their children between 15 and 20. Elena was in this range, but she was from another town.

"When I teach, I like to-" But Kyle stopped listening right there and let his mind wander. He could lay down on a couch and sleep for weeks at a time, but 10 minutes of listening to this old hag were too much for him.

"Kyle, it's your turn!" Elena was talking to Kyle from behind him and he picked up his head.

"My turn for what?" He asked, a few people were looking at him, including Mrs. Skorva, but not the girl next to him.

"Your turn to introduce yourself, now go ahead." Elena pushed him to do it, so Kyle stood up and spoke.

"Kyle Mercer, I can already read and write!" Kyle said it in a proud voice and stuck out his chest, then sat down and put his head on the desk.

'This is so stupid...' Kyle hated being there.

"Kyle...." Elena was disappointed in Kyle's actions, but she did not know to what extent Kyle could read. She knew Kyle went to the library almost every day for two years, but because she could not read she did not know if it was easy or hard, or if there were different levels of skill.

"Alright then, now this row..." The row next to him was called to introduce themselves and Kyle stayed awake so that he could hear the name of the girl next to him. She was not much of a talker, but it would be good to at least know their name.

"Beth Valheart, I don't want to read or write." Beth took a look at Kyle and then sat down. Beth crossed her arms on her desk and put her head down on them.

"Okay, next row..." Mrs. Skorva kept going even after a few of the children laughed. The parents there could not help but look down on whoever was the mother of the girl in the back row, and when Elena saw their faces she wondered if they did the same thing to what Kyle said.

"My little genius..." Elena's dreams were crushed too.

The first class ended 2 hours after it started at 9:00. There was a 10-minute break where the parents went to speak to their children, but nobody came to speak with Beth, she came alone.

"Looks like you already made a friend Kyle..." Elena looked at Beth and Kyle doing the same thing and only had this to say. It was important to have friends, but the girl sitting next to Kyle looked like a loner.

"Sure does." Kyle said while facing down. Beth looked over at him for just a second before putting her head down again, and then the 2nd teacher came in.

"Hello everyone, I am Mr. Woodworth, the history teacher." The man speaking was probably in his 40's and was starting to show gray hair. He had a thick chin and hairline, both of which were of a healthy young man.

'History?' Kyle put his head up. He wanted to learn history but was a little... preoccupied with just as important matters.

"I have taught her for just under 10 years, but I am certain I will be able to teach you kids a good deal about the history of the empire-"

There were no introductions for this class from the students because the students already knew each other. Mr. Woodworth took the rest of the class to talk about how knowing the mistakes and glory of the empire was important for some hoopla, and to take his class seriously.

But something caught Kyle's attention.

"Every town or city in the empire with a population of over 5,000 has a school in it to educated our youths between the ages of 5 to 8, but do you know why that is? Some of you might have heard about the 4 heroes before, well one of the heroes that saved humanity 3,000 years ago was a great swordsman and scholar."

'That was Kirito, but did he really have so much to do with the creation of schools?' Kyle knew Kirito very well, and he was known for being the best educated of the group. He knew math very well, and when Saint Ajoras planned attacks on the demonic army's camps, Kirito was there to help calculate things.

"The hero Kirito believed in only one thing in this world to be stronger than his sword, and that was knowledge. After the completion of his hero duties, Kirito devoted himself to the creation of many schools and libraries in the empire, and this is still done today by his descendants."

'Huh, Kirito turned out to be a good guy. Fine, Kirito, your descendants can live.' Kyle changed his mind about killing Kirito's descendants because he did something to help the whole empire. Only if the other heroes did something like that could they escape Kyle's quest for vengeance.

Kyle actually listened to Mr. Woodworth for a while, but then he stopped. It was just too boring. Kyle had not read too much history in the library because... of his special training. If he focused on the limited books on history, Kyle would be able to learn more than someone who was teaching a group of 5-year olds.

Second class was another 2 hours and now it was 13:10. All the children were hungry which was fine because this was a 30-minute break. Many kids had their lunches held by their parents, and all the parents who nodded to Mrs. Skorva earlier had lunches for their children.

Elena just looked around nervously as she did not have a lunch for Kyle. She never went to school and probably should have consulted with Fred or Kathy on what to do. To the right of Kyle, even Beth had a lunch with her, though no parent came.

"Isn't this going to be fun Kyle? You can learn all about the history of the empire?"

"But what about the Elven Kingdom or the Dwarven Kingdom? Shouldn't we learn about their history too?" Kyle only read a few books about historical events in the library, and they were just events. Just little things that happened in one city or town or village. Nothing on a kingdom-wide scale was recorded, and nothing about the other two kingdoms.

"Kyle, we don't need to learn about those non-humans." Kyle had not seen a member of the Elven or Dwarven race this second life, which was strange because of how much they helped the human kingdom defeat the demon kingdom.

It might not have been to the point of providing soldiers, but the Elven caravans assisted with moving rations and the dwarves provided many weapons and armors. The animosity towards these other races was unwarranted. Even Saint Ajoras who disliked non-humans was fine with the Elves and Dwarves.

'There must have been a war...' Kyle thought, but he did not know for what reason the Elves or Dwarves would leave their kingdoms to fight the human empire. Each of the 4 kingdoms had a unique geographical style. Dwarves had mountains, humans had plains, Elves had jungles, Demons had dead lands.

Kyle thought about what could have caused the war as the next class begun.

From the entrance of the classroom, a goddess walked in.

Dove flew in behind her, made a lap around the room, and went out again.

Light stopped coming from the window and instead came from the doorway.

The illuminated figure walked behind the desk and the center of the room and put down the papers she had in her hand.

"Hi everyone, I'm Ms. Helen and I teach math in the school." The angelic voice spoke from behind the desk, and it had Kyle's full attention.

'Ms. Helen my queen!'
