His first thought was: "Where am I?"
The man tried to look around the room he was in but was unable. His arms and legs were locked in place, and his fingers wouldn't move. His neck was stationary and it too would not move. His body was not reacting to the signals he was sending it, but he certainly had a body now.
'This can't be...' He thought to himself. He was speaking in the pitch-black area, but now he was unable to. The man was unable to determine where he was, but he could tell one thing, that he had traded being able to speak for having a body.
'I'm not sure whether to be happy or upset. I was dead before, but this...' The man felt that he somehow got the short end of a divine stick. He was taken from certain death in the demon king's palace to a new body, but it was a broken body, and even though he had the body, he was unable to move it.
The room he was in had wooden walls and a wooden ceiling. He could not make a judgement on the floor because it was not visible. From his limited and unchanging view, he could tell there were at least three walls to the room, and a ceiling. Closer than those was a wooden looking fence. It looked like a wooden prison. It was of no concern to him or whoever had trapped him, though, because he could currently not move his body at all.
"____ ___ ______"
The man could hear something making a sound somewhere close. 'Please be human' He thought to himself as he waited. If it was not human, the man did not know what to do. There were two possibilities in this kind of situation, either he was reborn and the person coming in was his mother, or it was a monster that had just eaten his mother and was about to eat him. 'Easy come easy go...' he thought as he waited for the inevitable.

"_____ __ ____". A woman who came into the room and these strange sounds were heard, and her mouth was moving, but it was too hard to determine where the sounds were coming from.
'Yes! A human! Safety at last.' The man thought as he laid there. The woman was probably 18 or within a year or two of that. He could not tell how tall she was, but the woman had dark brown hair to her shoulders and brown eyes to match. 'Whoa, watch out there!'
The woman picked up the man suddenly which frightened him. The woman stuck her hands somewhere that would have pierced his old body, but from the strange feelings he had, the man knew he had a much smaller body now.
"___ _____ __"
'Come to papa.' The man said as he tried to reach out with his arms, but they would not move. He was not able to speak or move his body, and even the words the person in front of him spoke he was unable to understand, but right now he was in heaven. The simple reason was because the woman had just lowered her very baggy shirt and revealed one of her 'infant nutrient dispensers'. The woman moved the main closer and placed his mouth directly on the dispenser.
'This is it! This is... disappointing.' The man thought as he was unable to control his mouth or any other body part. The man was able to feel his body, but not the things touching it. 'Such a perfect opportunity, wasted!' The man yelled inside his head.
The woman continued to perform her motherly duties and pulled the man away. 'Farewell my sweet princess.' the man thought as he was being placed back inside the prison. As the woman's shirt was pulled up, the entire world became a few degrees colder.
A few minutes later the woman came back and carried the man to another room with similar walls and ceiling. While being carried, the man was rubbing against two certain things that he would have previously liked to rub against, he was unable to feel anything and thus came out completely dissatisfied.

The woman placed him down on something hard and straightened his body out. If it had not been a human and he was not given the gesture of good faith just a few minutes earlier, he could suspect this hard thing to be a cutting board.
He could tell it was hard by the way that he did not sink into it. It was a strange feeling to know what kind of material his body was being pressed against just by the compression of the skin, and not by actually feeling the object.
"____ ___ ______," The woman said as she started to put her fingers to the sides of the man, but he could not feel it.
'I don't know what you are saying, and I can't feel what you are doing, but why do you look so angry?' The man could not think of anything he had done, and thought back carefully to think if he had bit down or sucked a little too hard on something he was not supposed to, but then he remembered he had no control over his body, and he probably had no teeth, so it was not high fault either way. It was unknown why the woman was looking so upset with the man without him doing anything.
The woman was not tickling him, and she pulled something away from the man's nether region. From the face the woman was making and the object she had in her hand, the man was suddenly glad he could not smell. 'Really dodged a lightning spell here.' He thought as he contemplated the benefits of not being able to use any sense other than sight. It was a short list.
"____ __ ___" The woman presumably made some words as she cleaned the man and placed another object onto his nether regions. He was then picked up again and placed back into the prison with no ceiling.
The man came to a conclusion following the events of that day. 'I'm no man, I'm just a baby now."
A few days past and the man made certain of who certain people were to him. The first person he had met was Elena Mercer, his mother. She was 18 years and proud of having her first child. She did not have a job or work at all, instead, she spent all day looking over her baby.
The man of the house of Fred Mercer. Fred was a head taller than Elena and had short black hair to go with his brown eyes. Fred only came home at night and was gone early in the morning. Fred worked as a guard and had been for 3 years. Fred was not able to take care of the man often, but one a week the three of them spent the whole day together because Fred was only off one day a week.
The man was able to learn all this with the development of his senses. It was strange for the senses he had for all of his life come back to him, but after spending several uncountable weeks and months inside the dark space, the man was happy enough about it.
Even though he could now hear, what Fred and Elena spoke was not the same language as what he was using before. While it was technically the human language, it was mixed strangely like someone had placed the words for the sentence into a cauldron and pulled them out in a random order and just kept them like that.
The man also learned something important, something on the same importance level of knowing that he was a baby now. He now knew his name was Kyle Mercer, born on August 12th.

Nowhere Stars
For as long as anyone can remember, humans have been preyed upon by Harbingers, living nightmares which devour dreams and passions and souls, and defended by Keepers. These children alone hold the gift of magic, the wild and wondrous ability to impose emotions over reality and empower their frail bodies with the splendor of their souls. Under their protection, humanity was able to survive and thrive. While modern Keepers have come to enjoy a social position somewhere between celebrities and religious idols, very few accept the mantle simply to be a hero. The Messengers of the Goddess Claiasya, spirits charged with awakening the magic in suitable souls, promise that Keepers who consume and purify enough Harbingers will obtain the power to change themselves or the world in nearly any way they wish. It’s for this purpose that Liadain Shiel, a young girl born terminally ill, throws herself into life as a Keeper when her opportunity comes, hoping against hope to rewrite her fate and save her life while she still can. But magic wants its wielders to grow and change, not simply continue living, and the secrets swimming beneath the sea and behind the sky have lives and designs of their own. Nowhere Stars is an ongoing fantasy-horror web novel about traumacore magical girls, nightmares clothed in ribbons and lace, alienation from reality, and broken children twisting the world into whatever shape they must to make their dreams come true.
