《The devils journey》Chapter 7: The Brown Bear

The pair of Goblins ran deeper and deeper into the forest unaware that the Goblins that were supposed to be searching for them became stuck on the towering red tree. They ran until they were gasping for breath or rather until Ben was gasping for breath, despite Amelia being a mage and having weak physical strength compared to a warrior path like the present Ben she still lasted longer than Ben due to her using minor enchant wind magic on herself.

Despite that she still ended up collapsing first as her willpower didn’t allow her to continue like Ben, collapsing on the floor she gasped for breath as her chest rose up and down violently with an audible breathing sound whooshing from within her chest to her lips. Ben fared better as he controlled his body and breathing to not make as much noise and to receive the maximum amount of recovery from this short break.

A few minutes go by and the violent heaving of Amelia has subsided, and Ben has recovered enough to continue running for a while longer. “Let’s go we need to make more distance we don’t know how far away they are” Ben said to Amelia who rested on the floor with her eyes closed recovering her magic energy and stamina. “Why are you so desperate to run away from them? I know they are cruel and not like us, but they haven’t don’t anything to make you want to run away so bad”. Amelia asked Ben who was surveying the area making sure they haven’t caught up yet. Despite not hearing anything in a while Ben knows a skilled hunter can track anything in the forest no matter the distance not to mention this magical world where you can use cheat like skill and magic to track their prey even all the way across the world. “Let’s just go I’ll explain everything when I know for a fact that we are safe, I know of a village of beast creatures not too far from here. We can rest easy once we reach the town” Ben said to Amelie who was intent to get an answer right then and their but suddenly a roar sounded out behind the arguing pair.

The sounds of crunching branches and leaves sounded from behind the pair as a hulking brown figure came rushing at them with ferocity. “Shit, it’s a brown bear” Ben said as he pushed Amelia out of the bears charge path. Don’t get this brown bear mistaken for one on the planet Ben is from, the brown bear that rushed before them stood at 3 meters and had a big nose and whiskers on its face. Its claws on its hands and feet flashed with a green goop that burned the floor as it dripped down from its claws. Its fur was pointed at its tips causing the attacks of those weaker than it to suffer damage to dare attack it.

The bears head smashed into a huge tree causing it to fall on the ground with a large crash, mad that it missed its charge and hurt itself it let out another roar before standing on two feet showing off its imposing image before rushing again toward the pair of Goblins.

“Amelia use fire bolt toward its eyes and then use frost on its limbs and finally spam it with earth boulder for as long as you have mana” Ben fired off commands in the heat of battle to Amelia who still hasn’t recovered from the near-death experience she just went through. The bears massive face with sharp pointy teeth and horrid cruel eyes kept appearing in her mind like a nightmare.

“AMELIA”!! Shouted Ben as he dodged the frenzy of attacks the bear threw at him; Bens shout awoke Amelia from the nightmare. The urgency of the situation suddenly hit Amelia as she recalled exactly what is happening. Ben was getting overwhelmed and was going to shout for Amelia again but then a fire bolt whooshed past his head onto the eyes of the frenzied bear filled with rage.

BOOM

A small explosion resounded within the forest as the bear roared with pain falling on the ground clutching its eyes. Before it could garner its bearings, Amelia said the chant for frost, freezing its limbs to the ground making it unable to use them for a little. Then finally hand sized rocks came crashing into its body over and over causing its body to thrash around and try to escape form its holdings.

“Yes”! Amelia screamed at the pitiful sight of the bear believing victory is within their grasp but because she lost focus due to her excitement it broke free from its shackles and barreled to the exited female Goblin. Ben couldn’t even get a shout out at the bear swiped at her slamming her into the ground with slash marks all over her body.

“NOOO”!!! Ben shouted as rage too over by seeing the girl who followed him was sent to the ground most likely dead. Ben rushed over in a fit of rage jumping on the back of the injured bear and wildly slashing and biting the bear trying to find his way inside the bear despite the pain and damaged it brought to attack the bear.

The bear weakly roared and thrashed around as Ben focused his attacks on one area, its heart. Blood gushed from the bear and Ben as he pounded and slashed over and over into the same spot. His nails broke off from his fingers and his knuckles cracked open, but Ben still slashed and pounded with everything he had. His mind went blank long ago and his eyes saw nothing, but the brown bearing and he had but one single purpose: to kill and devour this bear.

Finally, the bear succumbed to its injuries and fell to the ground with a thud, but the small Goblin covered in blood and flesh didn’t even seem to notice or rather care. He bore through the fur and flesh of the bear and took out its huge bloody heart and devoured it where he stood. The blood from the heart rushed down his face with every bite, his face covered with pain and ecstasy as he bit down over and over until there was nothing left except a large pool of blood and an injured Goblin.

The hunger pain from his stomach seemed to awake Ben as he saw the dead like female Goblin not far from him. He ignored his injures and fading consciousness and crawled to Amelia leaving a bloody trial, before he could get into arms reach he curled over and lost consciousness with his hand outstretched to Amelia as if he wished he could hold and help her.

The previous bustling forest became quiet again, but this quietness didn’t last long as blue energy hummed into existence and wrapped both Amelia and Ben in its power and energy leaving a blue light shining on the forest floor and the body of the dead bear.
