《The devils journey》Chapter 4: Hunger
Advertisement
A week flew by quickly as the goblins ushered the injured goblins from the hunt and applied very basic medical attention, those who were too injured like a deep claw wound or something that the body and basic medicine could heal were thrown into the slave room to be cooked once they died from the injury. Within that new group of warriors named food was the goblin who claimed Ben as his own. When the claimer of a newborn died they either had to take care of themselves or die out and be thrown in the food category.
A week to the goblins is enough for the newborns to be battle ready, the lifespan of the average goblin would be 1-3 years tops, but not many goblins make it to die of old age as they are one of the weakest monsters in the world. But luckily for them they have high reproduction, every other season each slave births new goblins usually amount to two or three goblins a woman.
The goblins are known for their pillaging and raping, the goblins raid intelligent races camps and steals the women to become slaves and birth the new generation, an extremely disgusting act. Once they give birth they are killed and chopped up into small pieces and ground into soup for the newborn children.
Ben threw up when he first found out and even now as a hard-core veteran monster he still gets queasy thinking about his meal he had a few days ago. After the meal with or rather of his mother he can conclude 5 things. One, he hates the savage creatures known as goblins, he hates himself and he can’t stay here. Two, his power only works on a full body, that seemed like a reasonable conclusion as he was only fed a quarter of her. Three, He is still too weak. Four, He never felt full despite eating everything on his plate instead he felt hungrier and its getting out of control he needs to eat more. Five, he’s tired and his mother tasted good and he hates himself for that thought.

A small white child with black hair ran around back and forth in the small damp cave under the curious eye of the surrounding goblins. The small white child wasn’t the only one, though the other children that looked around 4 just sat on the ground fiddling with the rocks, bashing them into their brethren.
That small child was Ben who grew from a helpless baby to a semi capable child in one week, the terrifying growth of Goblins would leave one in amazement. Ben looked ahead at the crude looking tent where the elder resided as his eyes shined pure blue.
His blue eyes could see a gathering of a yellow energy which represented the vital energy of a warrior. The path of a warrior is one fraught with danger and pain, they must be in constant battle and walk the edge of death to gather the vital energy in their body and temper their body to hold more. The stronger and more condensed the energy the stronger the warrior, for a weak race like a goblin to have some with vital energy even if it’s a pitiful amount is a shock. Vital energy would allow the warrior to crush those without the energy it’s a complete dividing point. Among the group that sat inside the tent there seemed to be two signatures of blue and within that blue was another color.
This is the path of mages, they intake the mana from their surroundings before turning it into another energy that they are compatible with, more compatibility the easier it is to change. This is a path of seekers of knowledge. Most would do anything to get the knowledge that they want, they are ruthless beyond compare and intelligent and wise like no other. There was a saying a general said years ago “Never fear a mage in front but a hidden mage is something everyone shall fear”. Mages hold great destructive power something unmatched by another class but that requires pure talent and intelligence. So, it’s an unpopular but very respected and feared path, when Ben first came to this world he wanted nothing more than to be a mage especially after seeing his other reborn humans who could use magic to summon natural disasters and kill hordes of people with a wave of their hand. But, he learned he had no talent even as a warrior he held no talent and couldn’t go far. His uselessness became apparent the longer he trained with his fellow old humans.

But this life will be different, it will I will make it so. His eyes burned with deep greed and hunger as he stared at the tent before shifting his eyes to the exit of the cave before planning to hatch his escape plan.
In another part of the cave his fellow reborn humans were about to be taken out by the warriors to get experience and kill the monsters to become stronger among this group was a female goblin who was dressed in the traditional mage apprentice robe, much to big for her as it was probably pillaged from the corpse of another. She gazed at the small goblin who stared at the tent with eyes filling blue, her same eyes also blue in color didn’t take her eyes off him once as she saw him train by running and jumping around the cave and feed himself by eating critters. She was fascinated by him, she didn’t know why but she had to meet with him. Because she knew that he had to be one of them.

Sorcery in Boston
The timid daughter of some of the greatest spellcasters ever to have lived has found herself in another world, courtesy of magic gone awry. In Boston, Massachusetts, in the year 1935, she finds some kind souls in a hard era. In the heart of the Great Depression, as war looms around the corner, she seeks to find her place, and must come to terms with both who she is and what she truly desires. Author's Notes: Release Note: I recently realized what the hold up is. My current mental state is not compatible with the planned ending. If I wrote the ending according to what currently feels right, it will be a wretched, cruel ending that feels monstrously unfair and invalidates the work of the various characters... because that's how my life feels at the moment. The planned ending is coming out hollow and awkward, no matter how I write it, and so I've been bashing my head. I will finish it, once I manage to either brute force something decent out, or once my head gets screwed on straight. Audience: This story is not for young children - it contains some profanity, sexual content, violence, gore, and significant adult themes. Most of these are handled delicately enough not to upset teens or adults (hopefully), hence the lack of relevant tags, but it is nonetheless unsuitable for youth. It's fairly slow paced, and focused on the development of very human, very flawed individuals. Length / Completion Estimates: The outline currently involves two books. Book 1 is expected to be done with Chapter 43. It'll probably be completely finished by sometime in March of this year. I expect to move on to the far-more-lighthearted Of Gods and Dungeons (currently in progress / on hiatus). Afterwards, I may decide to redo Book 1, or write Book 2, or actually start sharing the story most dear to me, that I've been working on for several years now. Draft 1: Please be aware that this is first draft material. I do intend to come back to do a second draft after the story is complete. If anyone notices any issues whatsoever with the story, please let me know (pm, etc) so that I can improve the second draft. Writer's Pledge: I've taken the Writer's Pledge, meaning I'm commiting to completing this story. I'm a proud member of WriTE, a group dedicated to finishing stories. It will be done! Behind the Scenes notes: This picture was commissioned from an inked artist by the name of DanP. Up until the time of the protagonist's arrival, history has proceeded as before. Some places and characters have been borrowed from wikipedia entries of interesting figures from the time. I will make note in the chapter comments when such things come up. Naturally, I've taken a great deal of liberty with them. In interest of respecting individuals, I've either attempted to portray them as accurately as possible, or modified them sufficiently enough that they're simply an inspiration, instead of a real portrayal. I've attempted to be as accurate to the era as possible, but I'm not a historian. If you're aware of inaccuracies, please, bring them to my attention so that I can correct them.

Author's Rant
Just a disclaimer, this is not and never will be a story. I just, noticed I have a bad habit of wanting to rant in my author's notes, and have decided that, instead of accidentally doubling the length of each chapter with the author's note alone, I will shove those long-ass rants here. It might contain spoilers for my stories, as I usually wind up ranting about different parts I'm writing. So, if you actually enjoy my rants...well, firstly, what is wrong with you? Secondly, welcome! Time to figure out what tags to stick on this. Also, as of the second chapter, I have decided to shove some of my story ideas here. So if you enjoy half-baked, unfinished stories, then I got those too. I think that adds that short story tag?
