《Netherwyrm god》51- Ambush

Origin energy. Birthed by the world itself. It lived in everything and was present everywhere. Its weaker counterparts like mana or divine energy could not compare in might. Any power source gained after reaching Godhood was also weaker than origin energy.
Origin energy was and still is the only power source that all power sources gained from comprehension needed as fuel.
A lifeform who had cultivated the wood element, gained life energy or wood energy as it became a god. Even though it had gained a power source, it still needed origin energy as fuel to be used on a bigger scale.
Origin energy was the supreme power source.
As every power source was an element on its own, the Origin element was the ultimate element.
Some could choose to comprehend the Origin element and become gods through it. Their attunement with Origin energy was even better than the others who cultivated other elements.
Origin Gods had no way of attacking. All they could do with their origin element was negate the attacks of others, or buff their allies, making themselves untouchable in combat.
Origin gods had indeed cultivated the origin element but that path was harder than cultivating any other element.
Those that succeeded were considered royalty and they really were. Their power over the only power source that everybody needed was something that many dreaded.
For normal gods, Origin gods were a nightmare. Normal gods were only mere mortals in front of an origin god who could cut off their connection to the origin energy they had bitterly cultivated.
As dreadful as they were, Origin gods were few and they protected their legacies well.
In the world of gods, the only way for normal gods to keep leveling up was to fuse as many legacies as they could into their own element that had turned into a power source.
It was the creation of a variant element that was immensely powerful than the last one. A variant power source.
Some had the crazy idea that fusing as many power sources as they could, could help them escape the despotic rule and arrogance of the Origin gods.

As good as it sounded, it was dangerous to fuse power sources together. It was like a lottery in itself.
Some exploded in the middle of the fusion while others found themselves plagued by an element that was beyond their comprehension.
Acquiring a legacy like Alwyn was not hard. It could be bought from gods or stumbled upon in ruins.

Lin, Alpha, Alwyn, Devinn and Kane were teleporting towards Alpha’s daughter, Azura.
Lin asked: “If I could recognize your aura, the King’s men will recognize you as well. They’ve been waiting for you to come back all this time...”
“Kane and Devinn will go with you. Alwyn and I will just hide inside the Absolute unity prime reality.” Alpha said.
They arrived in front of a mountain upon which there was a simple palace.
As their presence was felt, multiple soul senses that could kill with a thought appeared attempting to gauge the new visitors.
Alwyn and Alpha had long taken refuge inside Devinn’s crystal and could not be seen by the soul senses.
“Is this how you welcome your daughter in law?” Said Lin as she waved her arm and the soul senses were forced to retreat under her might.
A weird chuckle was heard as a man appeared out of nowhere. He was wearing simple clothes and exuded a simple, unremarkable aura. He said: “You married that aberration of a son that brought calamity upon his own family just because he was alive...sigh...Lin...what did you come here for...Azura is fine...you do not have to worry...”
“We both know that it would take a little more than a greedy king to kill your son...” Lin said. She wasn’t trying to hide the fact that his son was still alive.
The man was out of breath for a moment before he said: “I guess it’s too hard to expect you and your daughter to let him go...” He then turned around and saw the identical Kane and Devinn. He could feel the space and light elements that the two were purposely emitting. He found it weird but did not pursue the matter.

Looking at the twins he said: “I am Alpheus. A simple god of the earth element. Who might you be?”
Kane said: “My name is Kane, a sword God of the space element and he is Devinn, a light element God. We are here because ...” Kane was looking at Lin who said: “They are here to escort me and your Granddaughter.”
“Escort?...Lin, what are you up to now?” Alpheus asked.
“None of your business. I just came here to take my daughter back with me and they are here to help me ensure her safety.” Lin said.
“I might hate my son, but I cannot put his daughter in danger. Unless you plan on telling me what you’re up to I canno...” Before he could finish, Kane’s Netherwyrm sword appeared out of nowhere. The tip of the sword was inches away from Alpheus’s neck.
Kane said: “Sorry, we are short on time. Just stay here with me.” he turned around to Devinn and Lin and they all nodded. They knew what to do.
Lin then flew towards the palace and Devinn followed closely behind.
Alpheus then said to Kane: “You are doing me a huge favor if you succeed but I will still be heartbroken. King Darius almost forced us to live like pariahs for eons but we could not abandon her...she is so fragile...sigh...”
A surprised Kane said: “You’re not even fighting back? Just a second ago, you were acting like a righteous man...”
“ The King’s men are here and more will soon arrive. For some reason, everybody thinks that my son will come back from death...All madmen...If you are successful in moving his daughter away from this prison, I will finally be free.” A teary Alpheus said.
Kane looked around. The peaceful mountain did not give him the impression of a prison. He sighed and said: “How many of them are there?” the Netherwyrm sword was inching closer to Alpheus’ neck.
“I have no idea. I just know that the entire palace is filled with spies and more hiding in the surroundings. Lin might be able to make it out, but your friend is as good as dead.” A frantic Alpheus said.
Devinn then sent him a mental message.
Kane was immediately informed that Lin and Devinn had been ambushed by an army of gods the moment they entered the palace.
“They sent you here to stall for time...long enough to teleport whoever was needed inside the palace...What do they want?” Kane angrily asked.
“King Darius is impatient and wants to know where Alpha’s clone is hiding. The treasure spirit of the staff made from Alpha’s true body keeps telling him that the clone is still alive somewhere. Somehow the clone and the staff remained connected...They’re after Lin...The only one who knows where Alpha’s clone could be hiding...” Alpheus said.
Kane: “If Alwyn and Alpha appear now, it will be a manhunt without end...Right...there’s still the Underworld Coffin...”
He left Alpheus alone and teleported directly to Devinn and Lin.
Inside the palace.
Lin almost felt terrorized by the sheer number of gods ambushing them.
All she thought about was her daughter’s safety.
Lin said: “We have to break the encirclement before an origin element God arrives and cuts us off from origin energy...if that happens...” Her face darkened.
Devinn kept his cool as he knew that his power source could not be stolen. He asked: “We need to find your daughter first. As for the origin Gods, leave them to me...I can handle them...”
