《Netherwyrm god》13 - Netherwyrm God (part 3)

Devinn’s plan of using a borrowed knife to aid their escape ended up in shambles thanks to the previous underlings of his dumb twin. Most surprising was the birth of a discarnate elemental soul just like him. They were of the same category but they did not share the same powers. He grew too curious to go and investigate how the two of them succeeded in stealing the last evolution of the bloodline, but he was against meeting the two new Cosmic gods. It was when Alwyn started flying downwards that he saw himself about to get killed by the not even month-old God that he had no choice but to follow.
“What are you doing?” Devinn asked the enthusiastic Alwyn.
“I am going to say hi. They are my underlings remember?” Alwyn said as he picked up his pace.
“Are you stupid? I told you that they are Cosmic gods now. What do you think will happen when they feel that you are weaker than them?” Devinn reminded his suicidal twin.
“You can stay here if you want. If something happens I’ll just teleport away. See? I am flying over just to hide my space element?” Alwyn said.
Devinn could not believe what he was hearing. It was true that Alwyn was just a human slave a week ago and it did not prepare him to be a god. He watched Alwyn fly towards his possible death and inwardly thought:” They have Sebastian’s memories since they absorbed them at the same time as him. They know you have the space element and the extent of your strength.” With that, he reluctantly followed Alwyn.
Lucius could not understand as he saw two Alwyn heading towards him even with Sebastian’s memories. Jonas seemed to understand and said:
” He is also an anomaly that occurred with the bloodline ignition. Even if you wanted to kill them both now with my help, they will just teleport far away. Besides, it is thanks to them that we are now the strongest beings humanity ever had. We need a space elemental in the future if we want to stay alive in some situations. Just be happy this kid is not your enemy. His ancestor’s master is even more dangerous than you who can kill Cosmic gods.”
“And how do you happen to know such things? Sebastian’s memories are limited, they are mostly useless in some cases. Can you erase them? His piousness towards the Netherwyrm god is nauseating. No wonder he lost to us.” Lucius asked.
“Well, I could’ve won the fight on my own, but I felt something probing us. That is why I proposed a truce and helped you get rid of them all before I went to investigate. “Jonas said.
“What did you discover?” Lucius expressed his curiosity.
“The Netherwyrm God that you became is the new and improved version of the previous one. Sebastian does not count, because he was just a human. The bloodline came from a place called Myriad Races Domain. It originates from a nether dragon who used to have flames who could burn souls but not enough to kill Cosmic gods. It was just considered a normal but strong Cosmic god as opposed to its brother who is a true imperial. Something happened when the dragon met a space elemental Cosmic God in the past and the dragon was later sentenced to death and chose to leave behind its bloodline weapon to the humans rather than its own bloodline. Sebastian was the fourth prime god of the human bloodline. It purposely stopped the power level below the true elemental level hoping to attract less attention from the seven cosmic gods of this human alliance. You know what happened next from Sebastian’s memories. When I met the dragon in that dimension, it was somewhat happy but I could tell it was just some kind of last will. I gained all the intelligence it acquired during its whole life except for somethings related to that mysterious Markus.” Jonas shared.

“Can you share those memories? “Lucius asked.
“You cannot even contain Sebastian’s memories without complaining about it. My heritage spans across eons compared to an ant like Sebastian who lived a few million years. If I was not here, these memories would’ve eaten you up and you would’ve become the will itself and be piloted by it. A kind of mindless soldier with the bloodline will acting as the mind. I had a soul strong enough after the eye appeared to completely make the will my own. Or else I would not be myself right now and you would’ve become an immortal puppet sealed under one of the humanity’s universes as a cosmic pool. I suspect that the seven gods left us alone become we are completely human and have no ideas of harming humanity as we are humans ourselves.” Jonas said.
“Take away the useless memories then.” Lucius asked before Jonas waved his hand through Lucius’s elemental head and said:” It is done. How do you feel?”
“Refreshed and more like myself.” Lucius said as he watched the two twins descending and asked: “Why did he not teleport in front of us instead of wasting his time like this?”
“He probably thinks that we know nothing of his powers and wants to use them the moment we attack.” Jonas said.
“He is not stupid, is he?” Lucius asked.
“Well, it has been a few days since he is a god. A bit longer than us. But I have useful memories and you retained the few you just made from peeking into those miscellaneous memories you got. We have another perspective and he still believes that we are his underlings like before.” Jonas said.
“Just like a human would do.” Lucius completed.
“Exactly. But the elemental twin is wary of us. I am interested to see how much knowledge that twin has and if he will be open for a simple trade. “Jonas shared.
“Do you not know enough already?” Lucius teasingly said.
“I only know what happens in the enemy’s territory. I know next to nothing of what goes on here. On that point, I am no less knowledgeable that before.” Jonas rolled his eyes.
Inside Kron’s palace, the seven Cosmic gods were intently listening.
“I wish I could pry into that head of his to learn a bit of intelligence of the Myriad Domain” Celeste said as she looked at Jonas.
“Nothing more than what Markus left us.” Salazar said.
Alwyn was happily humming and thinking about the two potential allies that could help him battle against his ancestor.
“Good to see that you are both still doing well.” Alwyn said with no ounce of caution as he inched closer.
If Devinn had a heart, it would have exploded a long time ago.
“Young master, it seems that you have changed as well. I understand that space element True elementals are invisible. Why lose such an advantage?” Jonas smugly asked.
Alwyn was surprised but immediately put it to the back of his mind and said: “Well I was tricked by the bloodline as well. Believe it or not but my frail human mind would’ve collapsed from being invisible the rest of my life.”
“That we can agree on.” Devinn who had just arrived said.
“Why call me young master by the way?” asked the puzzled Alwyn.
“Well, your ancestor, Kron, has an infamous reputation in the Myriad Races Domain. His own master Markus is even stronger.” Said the probing Jonas. He was trying to learn as much as he could from Kron’s descendant.

“So that brute’s name is Kron. How do you happen to know of him?” Alwyn immediately asked. Devinn had almost covered his face with his hands and the astute Jonas did not miss anything at all.
Jonas was surprised to hear those words, but then he remembered something about exiled descendants of gods. He even went as far as guessing the origin of Alwyn. From the way he had appeared out of nowhere in the organization trying to steal the from the blood lake, there were only a few choices as to where he originated from. If he could sweat, it would’ve been a good time for it.
“Holy shit. I may have enslaved an exiled descendant of the strongest Cosmic God of humanity. No wonder Alwyn hates Kron. That fellow never cared about his sealed descendants. Alwyn knew who we were and never tried to kill us? Was it because the bloodline did not want him to do so? But now that everything is over, he acts as if nothing happened at all and prefers to hate the only person that keeps humanity safe. These twins do not know what happens out there?” Jonas took a millisecond to think before he said:
“Let me ask you a question. Did you know that even if you hate Kron, there is nowhere you can run to as the human alliance is like a prison for Human Cosmic gods themselves, even Kron?” Jonas asked.
“How do you know all of this?” Devinn asked but he already knew the answer and needed confirmation.
“I have the memories of the bloodline weapon’s will.” Jonas answered.
“We know we are constantly being attacked by beasts and the cosmic gods protect us.” Alwyn said.
“Then why do you hate Kron?” Lucius asked. He was having a hard time understanding these twins.
“We just want freedom. That is all.” Alwyn said not caring at all about his stupid answer.
The other three felt a headache coming for different reasons.
“Freedom to do what exactly? At your level, you will have no choice than to fight for humanity. Even I with these new memories am scared that it is a lost cause. There might never be such a thing as freedom.” Jonas said.
Alwyn was still not caring for the kind reminder of Jonas and said: “Then I will kill my way into the Myriad races Domain and free humanity on my own. Like that, I will not be kept prisoner in this universe protecting it forever.”
Jonas wanted to forget he had ever known this kid before Devinn came up to him and said:” Could you help me out with something?” Following Which Devinn remotely activated the teleportation spell inside the ring that Alwyn wore. Devinn and Jonas disappeared only to reappear several kilometers away.
Inside kron’s palace, Wade’s endless gulping stopped and he said:” Finally. They are planning an intervention. Your descendant is too dumb.”
“It is not his fault if he doesn’t know anything.” Lightless said.
Devinn had a strand of the black-violet element that he exchanged with a strand of the white element from Jonas. Both strands contained everything they knew. They fused with them and each strand was transformed to the element of the host.
They then started talking about creating a joint strand of information but more limited for Alwyn to use. They created it. It contained the essential of everything they had. They even made one for Lucius.
When Lucius and Alwyn fused with the strands of information it was like their personalities had changed.
“Ahem… Forgive me. But even now I still want to kill my way into the Myriad territories. I cannot stay in this universe forever as its sole protector, right?” Alwyn said looking at the three.
“At least now you understand what we are up against.” Jonas said.
“Does this mean that I am still considered a Netherywrm god as well?” From the memories that Alwyn had just gained he understood that there was no way to escape a bloodline weapon other than purging the will. It could be seen on him as he kept the physical strength he had gained and improved.
“Of course, you are. You know it yourself. I told you before that you evolved into a variant bloodline of the same source. Call yourself what you want but you originate from the Netherwyrm bloodline just like Lucius and the accidental Jonas.” Devinn said.
“Will I be able to kill Cosmic gods if I evolve the bloodline to the cosmic level just like Lucius?” Alwyn asked seeing himself in a position Kron could not control.
“If you are lucky but Devinn is already capable of doing such a thing. He did not tell you, did he?” Jonas said, then added: “You are different from us. I am a soul that cannot be killed or burned by the ultimate Netherwyrm white fire that Lucius inherited from his evolution. Devinn, on the other hand, is more of a nightmare: He can eat anything except Lucius’s fire it would just become a stalemate since he also accidentally gained a weird power of healing. As long as he has mana he can heal himself indefinitely as soon as Lucius starts burning him. Same as you. Cosmic gods are just food for him and you. You are different because you can fuse together and are the fundamentally the same in the way that you Alwyn can use Devinn’s element as your own and have interlinked souls. The stronger one is, the stronger the other becomes. In my case, I am independent just like Lucius. Fusion gains us nothing. My powerful soul allows me to take over, kill or seal souls of any being since I have the strength to do so. I have a true everlasting soul that was born from a fire that burns through anything. I cannot be killed and no soul can resist me.”
Alwyn looked at Devinn and asked him: “What do we do now? Kron has yet to show himself.”
“You guys underestimate him too much. He doesn’t need to be here to actually be here. I am guessing that he is comfortably watching us with his cowardly friends in his cozy palace.” Jonas said seemingly unafraid. But inwardly, he regretted his words. As invincible as he was, he could not escape space seals.
Salazar was infuriated as he heard Jonas’s words:” I should go and test his soul’s immortality. I am interested in seeing him suffer a bit.”
“You will probably end up as his puppet.” Eliza reminded.
Over on Alwyn’s side, Devinn was still pondering on their next move.
After a while, Devinn looked at Lucius and Jonas and asked: “Are you guys interested in infiltrating the Myriad Races Domain?”
Jonas inwardly sighed and said:” You understand that the moment you thought of it or even before it crossed your mind to do such a thing, the imperials’ seers already know that you will be coming. How do you think that humanity was backed into a corner?”
“That is exactly what I want.” Devinn confidently said.
“Then say no more. I’ve been itching to let my new skills get some air.” Jonas said then turned his head and asked Lucius:” You are not going to bore yourself to death now that you are a weapon of mass destruction, are you?”
“Count me in.” Said Lucius. His flaming white fire body and robe made him look like a sun.
“What are you interested in?” Alwyn asked Devinn.
“A useful power that we will need in the future.” Devinn mysteriously answered.

The Mystifying Diviner
Content warning, there is cursing in the story and there will be some pretty heavy sexual innuendos in it also. I don’t really plan to write gore, but there will be fight scenes. Fair warning to readers, it is a slow start. But hopefully it is enjoyable for you to read. Follow the story of an old chef who was lucky to be selected to become a system host. Well maybe not so lucky, because gaining the system killed him. He will be given a system that might not be the best match for him. While also having to deal with a snarky system monitor who might not be that helpful most of the time. He will also use his new found powers to enjoy life in a new younger body. What you can expect from this story is bad writing, poor grammar, and slow pacing maybe. Food, cooking, comedy, slice of life, fighting, exploring, tournaments, scamming and probably face slapping. I mean who doesn’t like a good face slapping? This is my take on a cultivation story, a lot of Eastern stuff will be crammed into with a mix of Western. This story started as a goal for myself to write 60,000 words in a month for NaNoWriMo. I was able to do it even with taking days off and not writing. I plan to keep writing the story, but at a slightly slower pace. I am aiming for 2-3 chapters a week now with about 4-7k words written. This is only posted on RoyalRoad currently, and I have no plans to change that for now. Cover art is by Jack0fheart [Participant in the 2021 Royal Road Writathon Challenge for the month of November 2021]
