《Omega System》Chapter 15 - First Quest

Loud talking could be heard from a few meters in front of Damon by the time he was within hearing distance. Damon who was still hidden, walked into the room without a sound. Nothing noticeably happened, no one noticed the blood splattered Damon walking into the room. This was only until the teachers spotted him. They were obviously of a higher power level then the student named Damon, so they could detect his presence.
Hm, so I guess I am stronger than the students here? I don’t see those two girls around though… how long are they going to wander this cave?!
The teachers turned their heads from their conversations and stared at Damon.
“Was that a skill Damon? Why did you activate it now when we’re not in any danger?” asked Dan.
“Um… it was... by accident!” he replied as he deactivated [Stealth].
“Ok, I know you were scared of the body, but control your magic ok?” advised Nick.
“Wait, Damon activated a skill?”
“I didn’t know he had any!”
“Yeah! He didn’t use any at the class placement exams!”
“Now that you bring that up, that is weird, right?”
The students of both classes has picked up on the teachers’ words, and were curious about Damon and his skill. Unfortunately for Damon, he couldn’t provide an explanation, he wanted to hide the fact that he had received a special gift enabling him to obtain [Stealth].
Leon and Kalli walked up to him, seemingly having been talking about something before. A pat was placed on Damon’s back for no reason. A weird smile could be seen on their faces, a look kind of like jealousy.
“I didn’t know you had a skil like that Damon… congratulations!” said the pair while showering him with praise.
“Uh, thanks?” replied Damon, confused.
Having a skill was common, but having a useful one wasn’t. Imagine being able to cook food, or being able to turn invisible. Which one would you choose? Well, that was the same for skills as well. A skill that could hide your presence was uncommon compared to a skill that made you levitate a few centimetres off of the ground. Only about 1 out of 100 people possessed this skill, so Damon was likely the only one that had it out if he two classes.

“The teachers decided that we should head back to the school cause they said it wasn’t safe,” informed Leon.
“It was a wise decision,” declared Kalli. “We should be thankful instead.”
“Yes, we should be very thankful indeed,” said Damon, causing Kalli to look at him out of curiosity. But then she turned away once Damon started staring back at her.
Is she scared of me or something? Why is she acting differently around me now?
Damon, unable to see Kali’s face, couldn’t see that it was on the verge of turning red. She was surprised at the sudden direct eye contact with him, so she looked away.
With all that aside, it was time to go head back to The Royal Academy. The students lined up and went back through the portal. Damon remembered about the face he saw, but he wasn’t worried anymore. He had a received a gift from that fairy after all! Sure enough, he passed through swiftly and safely, and ended up hack where he came from.
It was now the evening. It seemed a lot of time had passed since the start of the trip, and the day was already over. Lots of rustling sounds could be heard when Class-A and Class-S field out of the purple portal.
“Ahhhh that was a long day,” said Kalli, while stretching her arms.
“Yep, I need to go now ok? See you guys tomorrow!”
Damon was planning on finding out more about his leveling system by himself. He decided to hide this fact from others, even his friends, because he didn’t want the extra trouble of explaining things.
After waving goodbye to his friends and informing his teachers that he was leaving, he headed back home.
When he arrived, he immediately took off his school uniform and changed into casual clothes. A mix of some type of t-shirt and a sweater with a pair of jeans.

Curiosity was blooming in his head, Damon was dying to know more about his system, especially when it concerned him getting stronger.
He opened his system and started looking around until he found a tan common in RPG games.
[Quests]
Wow, I wasn’t expecting it, but I guess this really is like a RPG game!
[Quest - 1/day]
-Do 100 pushups
-Do 100 sit-ups
-Run 10 km
[Reward]
-Strength +2
It seemed like he could gain 2 strength from completing the quest. Also, he could complete it once everyday, and the reward was two times as much as a level up.
So quests reward more then?
Quests granted more rewards then a level up, but Damon didn’t know why, he didn’t care either.
I guess I’ll do today’s quest then. I wonder what an extra 2 points of strength feels like?
He started doing the 100 push ups and sit ups. Sweat was running down his body by the une he was done. He grabbed a quick snack and then headed outside for his 10km run.
With his coat on, he went out into the cool evening and felt a slight breeze blowing on the back of his neck. It was a nice feeling, and it relaxed Damon, relieving a bit of the stress he had conceived throughout the day.
He ran for the 10km, and ended up back inside his small apartment. A message had popped up, leaving Damon with anticipation for what was about to come next.
[Quest Completed!]
[Strength +2]
The moment that message showed up, Damon could feel a change happening in his body. Unexpectedly, it wasn’t painful, it was a pleasurable feeling that one would indulge in if given the chance. There was no outer change, but he could feel his insides changing, ever so slightly. Then, the addition to his stats finally ended.
Wow, I do feel a bit stronger, even if it’s a little.
[Name] Damon Zellar
[Class] None
Level: 1 (1/10)
Strength: 7
Defense: 4
Agility: 5
Magic: 0
[Special Stats]
Luck: 5
Intelligence: 4

[Skills]
Stealth(F)
He checked his menu to confirm that he had received his reward, and there it was. Stealth could also be seen towards the bottom, indicating that he actually had a skill now, unlike before.
To test out his newfound strength, he tried picking up his bed. Before, he could barely hold it up, only accomplishing it by using his whole body strength, but now, he could easily pick it up with both his hands.
I wonder what the other stats would do, would I grow huge muscles and get rock-hard abs?
Damon’s thoughts were in a dream-like state, thinking about what his future looked like if he continued to increase his stats. His level had not increased yet, but when he asked Omega System about it, they responded saying that he had to kill monsters in order to increase his level. He had killed that 1, the dog-like one, so now there was a 1/10 showing up beside his level. He was guessing that he needed 9 more kills in order to level up to level 2, but where was he going to find monsters to kill?
Damon didn’t want to think about it today, he’d leave it for tomorrow. With one movement, he grabbed the covers and pulled them over himself as he started to fall asleep.

But be forewarned. It won’t be easy. I'll be writing this fast, so keep in mind there's likely to be typos that we'll correct as we go. Developmental Editing by Lev.

Cary Simms: The Fairy Mushroom Forest
From a young age, Cary Simms knew that she wasn't like the other boys her age. She didn't know why or how that was, but it seemed apparent to the bullies of her school. They would often call her names, chase after her after school, and beat her up when they could catch her. Her only protection, besides escape, was in the words of the Good Book. But that was before she stumbled into the supposedly haunted house at the end of her street. When a mysterious ring and a drawing on the back wall of the post office opened up a whole new world for her, things quickly went from weird to scary. At a new school, in a new world, surrounded by people who had access to magic, all Cary could think of was how to escape the witches that had her trapped there. It was only having her best friend by her side that gave her any comfort at all. ***This is my first attempt at a middle grade book, and would appreciate feedback. Please note, this is a second draft, and might not represent the final product.***

Getting Hard (Journey of a Tank)
Herald Stone always built tank characters in every MMORPG he played. To be immortal—that was his first Goal, a simple childhood dream. However, the turbulent realities of life put an end to his gaming days. Years passed, and Herald Stone, now having attained success and stability, was presented with the opportunity to redeem himself...to fulfill his first Goal. Trivial? Childish? Others might think so. But Herald Stone always fulfilled his Goals—every single one. No matter what. Immortality beckoned in Mother Core Online, and this time Herald Stone would answer. Choosing a long-forgotten race, hidden away in an unknown region, the journey of an immortal tank begins. This is the tale of Herald Stone...getting hard. Schedule: Mon-Wed-Fri ~1.8k-2.3k words per chapter. Also published on Scribblehub. My other ongoing story: REND | Royal Road Expect a focus on building a true tank in MMORPGs. Heavy game elements and numbers are present. But actual math will take a backseat to strategies involving skill builds and synergies that steadily become more complex while remaining understandable. The main character is atypical in LitRPGs or web novels as a whole. He might take some getting used to. Character arcs will develop over a long period. What you see now will be different as the main character changes. The start of Getting Hard is slow-paced (more so than others of the genre) and includes world-building and character development before focusing on the LitRPG.
