《Omega System》Chapter 14 - First Monster Kill

Damon was reading the words shown to him, with awe strewn across his face. He had just received a gift from the fairy and it seemed like some sort of system.
Omega System hm? I wonder what it does.
Damon selected next and a brand new screen popped up.
[Name] Damon Zellar
[Class] None
Level: 1
Strength: 5
Defense: 4
Agility: 5
Magic: 0
[Special Stats]
Luck: 5
Intelligence: 4
*** Has not been unlocked yet
[Skills]
None
Wow, this is just like a game! It even shows my stats, which I’m guessing is my capabilities.
Damon was surprised at the numbers shown. The stats for a grown man was 3, but his strength, defense, and agility were all one or two points above that! That proved that his training of his body had been worth it.
My magic is 0 though… maybe that’s related to the skills everyone is talking about? I heard they use magic to carry them out.
Then, the screen known as Omega System started using arrows and text boxes to give a brief tutorial of what everything did.
Ah, so they’re just like any other game stat wise. The stats do exactly what you think they do. Strength gives you more power, defense increases the condition of your body to make it easier to block attacks, agility makes your movements quicker, and magic is the element you have available to use on skills.
Damon finally understood those things, but there were still the special stats that he didn’t know how they worked. This was because of the title of [Special Stats]. Intelligence and luck could be easily interpreted, but there was a hidden stat that hadn’t been unlocked yet.
I’m sure that I’ll find out later. Let’s not stress over that right now.
Also, he had a few questions about his levels, but Damon had a vague idea about it. He had read many light novels before with game elements, and you usually leveled up from killing monsters. Since monsters were present on Earth, he just had to find one and he’d level up eventually. The why he left it it in the back of his mind, and he’d come back to it later.

Damon looked over his system once again, and then started walking back towards the portal he entered from. The kidnapping experience didn’t leave that big of a trauma on him, because he had suffered similarity in the past. Therefore, Damon treated it like any other event, on any other day.
The only thing is that man I talked to. I’ll remember him, and one day, I’ll ask him some questions about how he came in possession of the info about my parents.
Damon continued on his trek back towards his class with determination showing on his face. It was only a few minutes though before he encountered his first obstacle.
“Guess it’s time to see how this system works,” said Damon out loud instead of thinking it inside his head.
A weird looking creature was standing in front of Damon. It looked like a mutated dog, it’s teeth were way longer and sharper than usual. Also, it’s fur was ash black, and it’s eyes were a dark red colour. It was also bigger than a normal dog by a lot.
[Lowest Rank monster detected]
It was the first time Damon had met a monster, but he wasn’t particularly worried. It didn’t look too menacing, and even if it did attack, he was ready and on guard.
So there’s a ranking system for monsters too? I wonder how powerful a higher ranked monster would be?
Damon measured up to the monster in front of him. The dog like monster was looking behind it, so it hadn't noticed Damon yet. He thought he had enough strength to defeat it, especially because it was smaller than him.
Since I can’t use magic, I guess my only option is a one on one fight.
Suddenly, the monster turned around and looked right at him. It didn’t attack though, it started to trot closer to Damon. It wasn’t readying an attack, it even had a somewhat happy expression on its face.
What? It’s not attacking?
The monster didn’t harm Damon, it went on it’s back as if asking for a belly rub like a regular dog. Something weird was going on that Damon didn’t know about. He didn’t know what though, so he decided to just do what he was aiming for from the start, regardless of the monster’s unusual actions.

Damon moved closer to the dog like monster, but it still didn’t show any signs of attacking. One could even hear a small panting sound coming out of its mouth.
So weird…
Damon was finally within touching distance. He got his hands ready and started attacking in the only way he could. He started beating the monster mercilessly.
HUROWW!!
The monster even whimpered like a dog, and finally, after being attacked it finally started to retaliate. Or at least it tried to. By the time it tried, Damon had already sent several punches into the same area, it’s head. There was blood leaking out of several places, and Damon was still punching. Eventually, the whimpering stopped, and the monster lay still in the ground.
That was way easier then it should’ve been. Why didn’t it attack at all?
Damon had no idea of what had just transpired, but he was sure of one thing. He had received a notification from his system!
[Stealth(F) has been learned!]
A notification had shown up in front of Damon in a game like manner. He examined the skill he had learned first.
Stealth hm? I’m pretty sure that’s a skill that can hide you from other people?
He opened the description of the skill and took a look at it.
[Stealth(F) Hide your presence from others. At this rank, you can only hide your presence from people weaker than you. 1/3 Skills that do not require ‘Magic’]
“Cool! I can stay hidden if I want to now! It’s similar to invisibility, but it’s not a bad skill,” said Damon excitedly. “Also, I don’t need magic to use it but sadly, it has a limit..”
This was his first skill he had ever learned, and from his first monster kill nevertheless. The other notification was important to Damon as well. He was baffled by what this system could accomplish. It was basically the saying that he could improve himself without him having to do the work himself! He could even go beyond the limits of a human because it seemed like the system had no limit to the amount you could increase your stats.
Amazing, just amazing.
Damon imagined one day where he was the strongest person in the whole world, and he had no equal. He could also punish everyone who had treated him badly, and he’d have the power to find out more about his parents.
I’d finally be able to take action against those nobles that heck treated me horribly. I’ll make sure you don’t act the same once I’m done with you!
Damon opened his system after thinking about the future to test out his new skill. To activate a skill, one had to say the name of it in their head, and it would automatically activate.
Activate Stealth!
[Stealth activated]
If someone was looking at Damon at this moment, they would have been rubbing their eyes, thinking they were seeing things. He completely disappeared from view, but he didn’t know that. There was no one around to test it on, so he didn’t have a clue if his skill was working or not.
Is it working? It should be, because there was even an announcement saying it was activated.
Damon walked through the cave, back towards that bright room he came in. He decided that he would join up with his school again, making sure that no one was busy worrying about where he was. At the same time, he could test out [Stealth] with his classmates. He didn’t care for Rachel and Siena who were answering around the cave, they would come back eventually.
Let’s hope my classmates are weaker than me, otherwise, the skill won’t work.
Damon walked back the way he came from, blending in with the surroundings with his presence being hidden. Even if a normal person walked in this exact same passage, they wouldn’t notice a thing.

Essentia Animus
Second Book of the Soul - Celesi Veil Trilogy When the living essence of three girls are put at risk, giving room for a second essence within themselves, even their hyper developed fantasy world might not be enough to contain their new found ambitions. Another story of another world, these three girls must adapt to their new essence, all while each is left to question if they are truly still even alive. While this story is a sequel of the previous story in the trillogy, it is also fully capable of standing alone in its own light, taking place in a distant corner of a Celese returning readers will be otherwise incapable of recognizing. However, the events of the story are a spoiler for the previous book, in case that matters to anyone. This story takes place over two centuries after the events of Vitae Memorandum, when Celese had developed into an advanced world, improved to a point that it is much like modern-day Earth while still using the gift instead of technology. The Aethyx languages are still present in this book, and even English still exists in the world after the events of the previous book, but are much less of a focus after the same closing events of the previous book. What is instead important is how the ending events of the previous book had resulted in the start of the Instrumentation Era, and exactly how the gift translates in a modern-day sense. While this book is still effectively a fantasy world of its own kind of magic, it isn’t the classical medieval scene that would be typical for such a story. The laws of science still do not exist in Celese, but that didn’t stop it from developing into something that looks similar enough. Earth itself still remains present on the other side of the veil, and its previous exposure continues to shape and advance Celese into the world it has become. This story contains scenes exibiting mania and similar dark themes, as it goes to great length to explore concepts of life and death. While the degree of such themes should not be considered to be as serious compared to matters such as actual horror, the psychological depth is still siginifcant enough to be potentially concerning for people sensitive to matters of this nature, such as any individuals with concerns questioning matters of suicide, mental harm, or a variety of emotional injuries. While none of these subjects actually occur in the story, readers who are currently troubled by such matters may find themselves considering old wounds if they are especially capable of empathy while reading, which could lead to furthered emotional or mental stress. Readers with a high capacity for empathy may find themselves troubled by concerns regarding any potential lack of mental/emotional control as well as considerations regarding the meaning of death. Readers who appreciate subtle dark themes in a story may instead find this to be an interesting twist of the same idea.
