The Heavenly Wandering Sword

Chapter 38

The three rulers looked at each other as Li Jian smiled at them. The two Kings just shook their heads. “I think that Master Li is more than qualified.” Empress Suyan however simply drew her blade and attacked wordlessly, her aura rising to the heights of someone in the Divine Realm. Her eyes seemed to be a bit more reactive now instead of just the cold expression she kept on her face. Li Jian smiled at her and bowed. “Empress, please attack me with all of your strength.” Her eyes narrowed as her finely made artisan blade glowed with spiritual energy as she thrusted her arm forward towards him. The blade was called the World Sword, a sword that had been forged using the essence waters that was rumoured to have dripped down from the heavens into a celestial pool that was then collected and used sparingly during the forging process. In terms of pure power, it ranked up there as one of the top five blades of the continent.

For someone in the Divine Realms of power, her attack contained a majestic coldness behind it that only empowered the blade further. Even the other rulers in the room as well as everyone else who was there could feel the sheer pressure that this blade emitted infused with the Empress’s divine spiritual force.

For him however, it was a trivial attack. He simply leaned just a bit away from the thrust forward, the spiritual pressure emitted by the sword meaningless to him. He would reach out and lightly flick the sword upwards, the sheer force of his flick breaking the Empress’s iron clad grip on the handle as the sword flew up in a spin. With the sword gone from her grip, he stepped in and caught her deftly in his arms, one hand gripped tightly on her hip before spinning her around and dipping her low. Her face was no longer cold but seemed to radiate with a mixture of embarrassment and furiousness. He dipped her slightly lower as the sword came down and slid back into the sheath at her side.

“Empress, you are far too dazzling. I am not worthy of your sword, please allow me to hand it back to you.” He pulled her back up to a standing position while she glowered at him and turned before sitting back in her seat. In the moment that he had flicked her sword out of her grasp, she had felt a tremendous pressure and power coming from him for only a bare instant. The Royal Guard all stared at this professor. They were in the presence of a great hero.

Turning his head slightly, he bowed towards the two kings there. “Your Majesties, which one of you would like to be next.” The two kings looked at each other and waved their hands. “I believe in Master Li’s strength.” King Han said. King Wu however glowered at him with a fierce look on his face. “Sons, you two must learn to be a strong man like Master Li.”

Fu Rong sat there with a puzzled look on her face. Why exactly was Li Jian being so flashy today. “The bastard must be trying to ensure that he never has to attend this again.” For Li Jian however, he was simply acting out. To flirt with the General of the Royal Guard and then dip the Empress? Perhaps he would be given a nice long prison sentence or at the very least, fired from this job.

“I think I can speak for the Royal Majesties when I say that we are truly grateful for the students having such a qualified professor.” General Shing Yong said finally, after she had been able to stop and control the blush of her cheeks. Empress Suyan nodded slightly but she still stared at him. He was not a simple professor in anyway it seemed. “Please Professor, if you would speak to them about the progress of each student?” Fu Rong asked as she smiled at him with her mouth, but her eyes were filled with threats.

The students had stared at him as he dared to dip the Empress and flirt with the General, each with different thoughts in their head.

“Professor Li is a man amongst men.” – Wu Shan and Wu Shen Bao

“He is the greatest hero.” – Han Tian

“Just how powerful is he?” – Su Lai

“Our professor is a sleazeball.” – Su Hao

“I can’t believe he defeated big sister.” -Shing Hai

He sighed and nodded. “Very well. The talents of the students can be considered mediocre at best. They are all very hard working but none of them really display a tremendous amount of talent in anything.” He sat down on his desk and waved at the four most powerful people in the continent in a dismissive casual manner. The four guardians all coughed slightly. “Master Li, surely you don’t mean that? Look at how strong they are.” King Han asked, his eyebrows furrowed slightly with an awkward smile on his face.

The words were like arrows fired by the most powerful of the celestial archers, each one striking a deep wound in the hearts of his students. “Please execute him Empress.” The three witch elf students thought as helpless tears streamed down their scolded cheeks.

“Look at them, at their age if they didn’t have a lifetime of pills and medicines, would they have advanced as far as they did? Besides do you really want them to have natural talent and all be geniuses?” He raised a questioningly eyebrow at them and gestured towards the four of them. “If they all had natural talent and were geniuses, not even one of them would be where they are now. Your Majesties, the fate of a genius is usually found in a graveyard. There are many geniuses who can be found buried across the land. The students here are indeed mediocre. They are also exceptionally hard working. Who do you all want as someone ruling the kingdom one day, an arrogant genius or someone who is hard working and will defy the odds against them?”

Hearing those words, the four of them seemed to be much more placated. Even Suyan had to admit that the professor is quite correct in his words. Li Jian just nodded with a quiet satisfaction. “Regardless, I am their professor, and I will take good care of them. Of that, you can be assured of. As for their progress, I am not sure what measurement you wish. I suppose I will have to grade them.” He hmmed to himself as the four of them stared at each other. Principal Fu bowed slightly. “Your Majesties, General, I believe that the scheduled time is over. You are able to spend time with the students at your leisure. For now, the professor and myself must depart to attend to a staff event.” She bowed while Li Jian made an absentminded bow and she led him out of the classroom and out of the hall.

“Well that was just as painful as I thought it would be.” He muttered as he smoothed down the tunic he wore. He glanced over at the principal beside him who just smiled at him in her usual manner. “I sense that there is a catch. Why did you drag me out of there?”

Fu Rong giggled to herself slightly. “I would like to enjoy dinner but I do not have a dinner companion.” Li Jian blinked at her and shook his head slightly. “Sister Fu, you’re so improper. Snubbing the three rulers just to get closer to my body, how shameless.” The Principle only laughed and waved a hand at him. “Master Li, I promise we will not be going to the Academy cafeteria.” He took her hand firmly and bowed at her. “I the humble professor will be honoured to escort the beautiful and ever so elegant Sister Fu to dinner then.”

Later that night

“Did you get the last one? What shape is he in?” The man stepped into the room as the other masked man checked the spiritual suppression ropes tying up the human male and the witch elf female. It seemed they were a couple that had gone out for dinner and had been caught in their trap. “They’re both fine, the Tenshin Toxin should suppress their cultivation for quite a while. Without the antidote, it’s hopeless for them.” The other man nodded. “Brother Lang, you’ve worked hard today. We can throw them into the sacrificial cages for later tonight when the portal opens.”

Lang Mo grinned towards the other man and the two unconscious bodies were placed into sacks and carried out carefully. Hei Xing did not dare to presume the plans of his master, but he knew that as part of the Asura Group, he was blood bound to follow the commands of the Tengu Lord. After all, the blood transfusion done by the Tengu Lord was what gave him the powers he held now.

The toxin did not really work on Li Jian as expected. The poison maker however was quite skilled, even he couldn’t detect it from just the scent alone. When Fu Rong had a few sips and then passed out shortly after, he noticed that everyone in the restaurant seemed to totter over. He quickly took a sip and pretended to be passed out as well, his taste buds analyzing the rice wine to see the source of the poison. Unfortunately, he was neither the Deity of Wine nor the Deity of Medicine and the poisons he knew in this world were much more limited than those two.
