《The Forest Emperor》Chapter thirty three: Subjects do as their told.

The days have been a blur. Where one spear ends another begins. Nearly all pages of my book have been filled with gorgeous spears. Some spear became too heavy to use, some lighter than air and just starting floating towards the sky.
We had a spear that gave off a warm sensation once we channeled energy into it, another turned magnetic. We still aren’t too sure how things work but we’ve been cataloguing the patterns used.
But now this beautiful dream comes to a halt, at least for a while. Sera has been informing me that something of a civil war is about to begin and she expects me to solve this ‘crisis’.
I’ll be honest. I don’t care if they start some kind of war. All I wanted was a kingdom and my kingdom needs people, I don’t care if they fight for power.
I decided to make a system of government. A power system, where strength rules. These people are blind with the idea of political power, so I’ll give them what they want.
The newest area has the worst buildings but it’s closest to the middle layer so I’m going to build a huge arena there. A coliseum. Where they can fight to death.
It’ll be in three areas. So at any time there will be three leaders. These people may be challenged every twelve months. This might have to be revised. Maybe let the rulers assign a guard that receives challenges, for the right to challenge the leader.
The arena is large due to a few factors. One is that it has to be adequate to represent a real situation. This means obstacles, and a wide area to run around in.
In truth, I think I’m just being biased towards people with powerful ranged abilities. I haven’t seen anyone as talented as me in throwing a spear though.
The construction is a bit harder than I expected. I am puzzling together various different buildings to make this an actual fighting area.
It is still cool to see the buildings materialize. The awe of the crowd isn’t half bad either.
“Alright, gather around folks, someone write this down.”
Sera, Jeee and Herros have already arrived with their posse since a while ago. The surroundings are already filled up with thousands of people. How the hell do so many people keep appearing in my kingdom?
Best to wrap this up and get back into spear making. I also have to take control of the next tree.
“Me, the all powerful me, Have decided to create a fair way to split the control of the forest.
First of all. We will designate three different areas. one area has one leader each.
Is someone writing this down? No? You! over there, ye you. Write this down.”
These people are so unprofessional.

“Every twelve months, there will be two weeks of fights to determine the strongest contender.
This contender then has the rights to challenge one of the three leaders, or if they assign a guard, their guard. Then they earn the right to challenge the leader.
These weeks of fighting will start today. We’ll keep to the same leaders we have right now. Step into one of those three circles, and challenge who you want. If no one challenges you, you can proceed to challenge Sera, Herros or Jeee in two weeks time.
Whatever happens in the future is in your hands. But I will say this. Anyone that is proven to intentionally sabotage any crafting facility, will see death and expulsion.”
Phew. That was pretty cool right? Drink it in everyone. Actually I can do better. Let’s summon two floating spears. See how they like that.
“Arrange for contenders to line up. Leaders cannot contend for other areas.”
Ye, they love the floating spears. Bet they never thought they’d see something like this in their lifetimes.
“You can only challenge one area at a time. To contest another, you’ll have to wait twelve months.”
Good. Now I should be able to go back. I want to get into spear making and play with the girls some more.
Oh, they are here?
“Girls! Let’s go back. The kids can play by themselves now.”
Well the leaders don’t look happy. Not my job to care though.
“Lord Abraser.”
This person can’t be protesting. Let’s give him a little warning. With one spear in my hand I flick it. the precision is there, since I’m not going for power.
That’s the reaction I was looking for. Shock and awe. Seems Jeee’s people are the most unsatisfied however.
“Anything else?”
Didn’t think so.
“Let’s go.”
Ah not even a minute passes before Herros, Sera and Jeee catch up to me.
Actually this Jeee doesn’t look half bad. A bit fierce but that’s not bad.
“What do you three want?”
“Lord Abraser. We need more facilities.”
Herros doesn’t look too mad about anything.
“Alright, Herros, what do you need?”
“More green houses and crafting facilities.”
“I’ll get to the green houses later. As for crafting facilities. No one can have control over them. I’ll add more to the crafting area and expand the surroundings, but you all better learn to share.”
Ah. Seems Jeee wasn’t too happy about that. Hmm. Sera did tell me she had control over it and the training area.
“And you Sera?”
“Forget it. Herros already addressed my issue.”
“Then you Jeee?”
She’s not going to cause trouble is she? Did she get a bit thirsty for power?
“Lord Abraser.”
Hm? She gave me a little bow. That’s not bad. I should make people do this in the future.

“I was hoping you would create an outpost in the middle layer. My men have been on expeditions but the pressure makes it hard for prolonged stay.”
I did not expect that. She has quite the ambition. I wonder how long it takes people to get adjusted to the middle layer.
“I’ll see what I can do.”
Can I even build in the middle layer? I’ll try it later. Maybe in a few days after we settle some things.
I hadn’t realized how many people there were until I saw all those people gathered up. And that was less than ten percent of the total population.
Well, forget it. Only thing I’m worried about is if there are too many people, won’t I lose control? What happens if they stage a revolt? No they are pretty weak. Not like they can hit me even if they throw a thousand spears.
“Ab.”
Hm?
“Ah. Let's go girls. We still have to finish that feather spear.”
“Remember what you promised.”
I know. I know. You can do the final infusion.“
…
…
…
“Lord Abraser!”
Hm?
“Lord Abraser!”
“What!?”
Oh it's Sera.
“Hey, why are you shouting Sera?”
Why does she look so angry?
“Where are the greenhouses? Where are the crafting facilities?”
Ah, Hel this bad timing. Ah. She isn't even wearing clothes. Ah. Why is she holding that spear so affectionately?
“So this is what you are so busy with?”
Damnit. Why is my dignity being trampled on!? I just wanted to have some fun.
“Okay, okay. How many greenhouses do you need?”
“Thirty two!”
What the hell. That’s a lot.
“And you still need to organize the crafting area.”
“Fine. I’ll do it now.”
Why do I feel like I’m not in charge here? Kel and Hel would never talk to me like this. Do I need to take Sera somewhere private and teach her a lesson?
Alright. I should know my fault. Let’s fix up the forest a bit.
Hmm. Well this is a bit messy. All these buildings they made are garbage. They have negative values. What the hell are they doing?
Before I do anything, it’s best I remove these garbage buildings.
…
…
…
Okay good. How dare they trash up my kingdom. Disgraceful.
Let’s see. Let’s set up forty greenhouses in each zone. I’d like to centralize them but they have done a decent job of spreading themselves.
Forget it, I'll just place forty down in each area and let them cry about it later.
…
…
…
This was a lot more fun when it was just a few buildings. Placing down over a hundred is just a chore. Maybe I can give someone control and let them manage the resources?
Let’s see. I got to replace all those garbage buildings I destroyed earlier. It says i have sixty thousand homeless people in my area. That’s kind of crazy.
Well, they can sleep anywhere can’t they. Hell, I don’t have a house either. These people seem like they're asking for a lot. Can’t they just enjoy the great outdoors?
Man, I’m going to be building this much. I should create some work for them. There are five mines nearby and I can create herbalist buildings that focus on growing valuable herbs.
Should I lo0k into alchemy or potion making? No, my woodworking is already time consuming enough. I can’t even get through a day without work, tho Hell and Kel are half of my time. Maybe three fourths.
…
…
…
Okay. If people need housing in the fture they can fuck right off. I’m not making any more! This is way too tedious. My mind feels numb and my hand has already given up.
And no one is rushing up to thank me for my hard work! Tens of thousands of buildings sin a day and they don’t even take the time to worship me.
This is why god is such a rare sight. Well, I’m not a god, but I can’t be too far off, right?
Hmm. I still have a lot left over. I did promise to improve the crafting facilities, right? Alright, let’s begin by expanding all those platforms.
I’m placing down every building tagged with crafting. I have no idea how there can be over sixty buildings with the tag but that’s up to the people to discover.
I should put up a reward for discovering new things. And a really good one for discovering a new crafting profession.
Okay Hel and Kel are looking distraught. I should get back to it.
“That should do it Sera. By the way, why don’t you join us for a moment?”
“What do you mean?”
Is she trying to escape? Isn’t it obvious what I want?
“Sera get in here. You really should get to know Hel and Kel. They are very… inventive. You could learn a thing or two.”
Why are Hel and Kel smiling so maliciously? Wait, are they a bit more devious than I thought?
“Alright…”
Sera was never this hesitant. Forget it, she’s not wrong to be hesitant. We already have incense that arouses the spirit and food that entices the spirit.
“Good. tell your friends to return. And tell them not to worry if you're not back in a few days. You can use my name if there is any trouble.”
