《Myth Of Men》Volume 2: Chapter 7: The battle of the Clans, and me of course.

OldBegginings:[Howdy all. I'm just here to point out, I'm still in the process of re-writing the combat scenes from earlier chapters. Currently up to chapter 7. I'd like to thank Nexus for the criticism, I didn't realize it was so dull before... But I'd also like to blame him for the massive pain it is to go back and re-write the scenes completely. (I know it's my fault for not writing them well enough in the first place... I still want to blame him though.) So thanks again... Hope you enjoy the chapter. Until the next time. :P ]

*'Hiiro'*

I continued smirking... The first shot of the battle came from one of the battle mages, firing a bolt in my direction. I side-stepped and dodged. I now knew that auto aim wasn't a thing, so I had a chance to win. I wielded my staff in my good hand, and one of my swords in the other, watching people from both sides charged to my position in near perfect sync...

I was in the middle of the street, which was about fifteen meters wide. There were no buildings here, so I decided I could go all out if needed. Though, I had no reason to win, or to fight for that matter...

I didn't care about being the strongest. I didn't really have any pride to give away...

I just wanted a challenge. One moment of my waste life, I could claim was worthwhile. Where I didn't have to hold back, where I actually got things wrong, and got hurt for doing so. Although, mainly something I found 'fun'.

This was my entire reason of fighting. I would have just logged out if I didn't want to fight. I could have just allied with the Samurai_Girls, knowing the inevitable outcome... But that's dull to me. I give everyone one try to make me care. I don't really mind if it's a new player wanting to prove themselves, or someone proficient at a game, doing the same. However, this principle of mine died down when receiving ten thousand plus challenge requests daily though...

I decided I was only going to use my grimoire if necessary, instead... "bind". The reddish tentacles rose from the ground again, and, surprisingly, still making most of the characters freeze. However, some of the players were just too strong, breaking through the bind and continuing to close in on me. The spell still prohibited the others from advancing. To my shock, my health refused to budge the instant they burst through the wall.

'So those tentacles weren't part of me. Interesting...' I thought, as the first of this group who got through got completely free, and made their move.

I had finally met the players strong enough to get through to me, seven in total, including both leaders.

"To think his class was a succubus." Someone muttered whilst walking to my direction.

"He's so weak though,” another replied with a louder, more taunting tone. “It's almost comedic."

A similar cocky grin became plastered on all of their faces.

I continued to smirk, simply kiting all of their attacks. They were on opposite teams, so making them attack each other was easy enough. I’d then face the side that won, weakened, with my chances of winning increased. And somehow my speed and stamina were good enough to maintain the constant dodging. Since their attacks were somewhat organised, gauging where and when they'd strike was child’s play.

I led most of their attacks toward their enemies while also trying to get the stronger attacks aimed at the strongest fighters. All of the people inside my makeshift wall were weakened, with only one exception. The leader of the Samurai_Girls who just lingered at the edge. Whenever I tried to get any attacks to hit her, she'd just parry them or dodge them completely. She was onto my shenanigans...

It didn't matter though since I had another plan. My AP was maxed, since the AP regeneration buff on my staff made my regeneration rate higher than the cost of maintaining the Bind skill. My health stood at about five thousand since I caught so many people in my bind, continually sapping health from them. But I then decided otherwise, starting the next step of my plan. "Stop Bind."

I proceeded to swap my staff for my other sword and acted worn-out to make it seem like I'd almost ran out of AP. This illusion worked, so I just had to pay attention. If I needed to, I could use more AP based attacks, which should catch most off-guard.

I could now see outside. The people fought each other, unaware of what was happening inside. The flurry of attacks from the gradually dying group continued, but some of the battle mages then turned their attention back to me and begun attacking. Perfect!

Multiple bolt-like spells flew from the other mages into the fray, but with my dodging, they only ended up hitting their allies or the other group, hence the battle becoming even more chaotic. With a couple swipes from me as counter attacks, I managed to prevent my hp from dropping and continued to annoy those around me. Even the leader of the Samurai_Girls got hit. Being unable to react to the cluster-fuck of attacks spewing from practically everywhere...

Most of the people caught in my bind were stunned at first, and mowed down with all of the attacks, and the ones outside mostly fighting each other, so payed the combat surrounding me no mind. The constant clashing of metal, cascading steps, and mumbles of skills being used built up a very dense atmosphere. Reminding me about one hundred people who still stood against me...

"This could take a while" I grumbled under my breath.

Most of the people around me were now just under fifty percent, as such, they started to play more cautiously. The Samurai_Girls started to use defense buffs, and so they attacked less, and the Back_Hands were also attacking less... Starting to see what I was actually doing. The spew of spells stopped knowing how they all missed me, and so focused on the many other fights around us, attempting to affect those instead...

It continued at this pace for a while. Dodging was made easier, meaning I could take a rest, and I still managed to damage those near me as they missed their attacks.

The endurance battle hadn’t even started though, seeing how most of the battles outside of this had already had their winners and losers, so more and more people gradually came back to this combat. Increasing the pace of my dodges once again. These new people were wounded, but still were threatening to me, as my space to maneuver steadily declined.

I maintained my little dance, evading the blows that only increased with number after every round... Until a point where the first leader fell.

It seems like the Back_Hands leader finally died. Being in the heat of the action from the start, it's not surprising. His final scream erupting a pure silence, that had been cast on all the members of both clans. All the people on the Back_Hand's side surrendered moments after. Discarding their weapons, running away from the combat in defeat...

All that was left was me and the remaining thirty plus members of the Samurai_Girls.

They stopped fighting, forming a line facing me.

"Surrender, or continue the fight... Your choice. You only prove to be a hypocrite to fight anymore. We were only trying to prove our rights. We've done our task. But for honors sake, if you want to continue, we'll beat you too. That's all your choice." The leader of the clan stated, beckoning her sword, that was hovering over it's sheath.

My smirk vanished, replaced with my usual straight face, with an annoyed glare directed at the person speaking.

I bitterly remarked. "How cute. You think you've proven something with that one guy dying. You realize the reason he died was all on me... What were you specifically doing during the fight, Deary? Oh, yes. Standing in my shadow, just dodging and waiting. I was the one who got attacked, your brethren just missed me and hit him due to my dodging skill. Both full clans even attempted to gang up on me, whilst all of the members individually out-level me, and it's 'YOUR' win? Considering I got through without getting hit once... Don't kid yourself."

I sheathed my weapon, and walked past the awe-struck group to the town hall.

No one 'won' that fight. We just solved our conflicts before ending it. I have standards in those I fight. These people, hiding behind total numbers to dictate 'their' win, doesn't fit my standards, and after my preach, I'd be hypocritical to continue. I don't care if this makes me seem like a whiny child, who runs away from a challenge... It wouldn't be the first time, nor the last.

The group left in my wake could only stand there. Confused. The silence behind me, seeping from the group to encapsulate the entire street, told me this.

Instead of bothering to hear the rest, I went over to the large building on the other end of the street. The so called 'City Hall'. It was a huge, eight story building, that definitely garnered attention. This castle like thing standing at the center of this walled city gave the 'I would not like to be the one to attack this' vibe.

I walked through the daunting entrance, that was guarded by so many men, I felt cautious every step I took. I guess that was their response to the combat in the streets...

I went further, and found myself at a literal cross-roads. An area to my right which seemed ripe with food makers and sellers, an inconspicuous area in front which seemed like an administration building, and an area to the left I payed little attention to. I went forwards, and asked around for where the registration area was.

I eventually found the area in which I could register, and was met by an overly groomed guy, who's hair seemed to unnaturally sparkle with the sheer amounts it was glossed... Usually I wouldn't even notice such a thing, but this was a different case.

"Ahem." The man demanded my attention with this one utterance. Noticing he had it, he beckoned me to explain my purpose.

"I'm here to officially register as a citizen of forth island. I have an ID, and just need authorization from a city official. Could you please help." I felt it was courtesy to make it more of a request than a job... Or maybe that's just my Angletarian upbringing...

Either or, his response was "okay, I'll see what I can do." and put out his hand, "ID please." he then ordered.

Complying to his order, I handed him the ID I gained from beating the Mumble Tree. A barrage of questions followed suit:

Q)"Gender?" A)"Undisclosed." I didn't really care about my gender...

Q)"Age?" A)"19 years of age." I went with my real age.

Q)"Class and sub-class?" A)"Undisclosed, undisclosed and undisclosed..." I didn't bother with a third subclass.

Q)"Name" A)"DokiDoki19" I assumed this was place for my username.

Q)"Full name?" A)"Undisclosed..." Apparently there was also a real name section. Damn it, I really wanted to keep anonymous though.

Q)"Invalid choice... again, full name?" A)"First name Doki, spelled D, O, K, I. Second name Doki-one-nine spelled D, O, K, I, the number one, the number nine." I mean, it was apparently accepted as a name...

Q)"Area of origin?" A)"The town of Simpson." At least according to the name on the map this was the case...

Q)"Occupation" A)"'Adventurer'?" I guessed...

Q)"Clan, Guild or other members of your group?" A)"Not Applicable."

After each question, he scribbled something down, I assumed he was writing on my ID. With the questions ending, he stamped the piece of paper, which turned it from the paper into a wisp of magic, that got absorbed into me...

"Okay, we're done here everything has been filled out, congratulations on becoming a citizen. You can now show your ID to those who ask, and get many services only allowed to official citizens. Any further questions?" The shiny haired man asked.

"Two. Firstly, Where, if possible, can I start up a bank account?"

"Okay, you know the main entrance, instead of going straight, which is the exit, go left, to the main guild building. There should be a place labeled 'Bank'. Head there. Don't worry, it's an independent guild made to organize those of any guild or background. You don't have to join any guild to make one if you don't want to. Also guild registration is done there... But you probably don't need to know about that yet. Next?"

"What hotels are in this city?"

"There are four in the major hotels. 'Tarus' head', 'The Green Goblin', 'Omega's Inn' and finally 'The Devil's Horn'. But I'd suggest not going to the latter, it's a so called 'love hotel'..." He said the final part in a semi-serious tone.

I was surprised that such a concept as a 'love hotel' would actually exist in this fictional world... I really tried my hardest not to judge the game creator's love life. I really did.

"Okay, where are the other three located?"

-

I'll save you the details, but soon enough I remembered I could just leave by logging out, making the inns completely pointless... I logged out when I finally remembered this, and actually made something to eat. Cooking up another lunch I cooked earlier myself yesterday.

I later played another mmorpg, the Planet Of Peace. I later realized that the games were remarkably different, and it just felt awkward playing a non-vr mmorpg. So I quit only half an hour in, and went into a slumber.
