OldBegginings:[Howdy. Now, you may not have heard, but I have a new series. It's a story called 'High school life in a world where everyone has superpowers' . Now, I know what your probably thinking, 'what's that title meant to mean?' Right? Well, I don't really see a reason to bore you with the extremely convoluted plot in this chapter, so if you're interested, please try reading it. You never know, you may like it or not. I know personal preferences are a thing, I just felt a shameless plug would be fun.
Now I should state, this series is a higher priority to the new series, so don't worry about my schedule for this getting screwed up for it, I want to update it every monday, but may release more chapters this week, since I have the first four almost done at this point. But at a point where I have to decide to work on this or Myth of Men, I'll be doing this series over that one.
Anyway, check it out if you want to, if you don't, here's a new chapter of Myth of Men. Thanks for reading and enjoy either or, better yet, both.]
*Nio*
LOD, Jeehan and I all met up at a cafe. Doki was apparently still in his room, according to LOD this is. This was our last meet up before we split up, it was to have breakfast and discuss things.
The meal lasted for about half an hour, ending with our goodbyes to LOD, and the absent Doki, we left. At about eleven Me and Jeehan stepped into a carriage, we purchased a ride to Skimmington, not wanting to walk, and took a relaxing ride out of the town.
The same path we had painstakingly walked down before was gone in a blur, the scenery outside was awe inspiring, fields and forests stretching for miles all around us. Whilst before, this path had seemed treacherous and plain annoying, it now had a melancholic serenity to it.
Encapsulated by the scene, both of us were in silence. Nature surely was a magnificent beauty, and without the bashful LOD and the apathetic Doki, me and Jeehan could now view such sights in peace.
Eventually an ice-breaker came from Jeehan, "so, want to talk about things? This trip will last about an hour, and with all that just happened, it's a good chance to unwind ourselves. Now, I expect we'll be talking about our recent actions alot at home, so I feel a more casual conversation would be better for now."
"Why not? Well then, who should go first?" I answered relatively preoccupied glaring out of the window.
A relatively eager Jeehan responded with a question of his own almost instantly, "If you don't mind, I was wondering what this world's like to you so far?"
"Well it's true I've only been here for, about a week? Well I think it's been a week. I don't really know how to sum up my feelings though. The best I've got is that this world is more peaceful than my own." My reply was delayed, since I had put alot of though into such a lack-luster answer.
Jeehan tilted his head. "Peaceful? Did you regularly join others to fight massive monsters in your previous world?"
It appears some explanation is in order, "I mean in the social aspect. In my world, parents force their ideologies, religion and name onto their offspring. Some parents more than others, in fact mine were really pressuring. Any freedom I had was very limited, the people I talked to were all of similar mind too. So I felt compelled to keep up a farce of believing them." I took a deep breath before continuing, "here though, I feel much more free. Especially with the group of people we have so far, I feel I can disagree and argue with people, which would be a death sentence in my old world."

Jeehan watched me with sparks of inspiration in his eyes, when I finished he appeared to be in a trance.
Trying to get him out of it, I prompted his response "So what about you? How's the adventurer's life style with us like?"
"It's fun!" blurted from Jeehan quickly in response.
He paused, probably thinking about why before continuing, "Well, I just haven't had a boring time I guess. The combat, although anti-climactic due to Doki, was still fun to be apart of and even when we're relaxing, we're in an unknown area I've never seen before which makes it still interesting. I mean, we've only just received our IDs, but even that was an adventure in of it's self..."
Jeehan dazed for a while, probably thinking back to the little time we spent like it went on forever. It lead to me doing it with him whilst looking out of the window. The trees became blurs as I payed less and less attention to sight, absorbing myself in thought.
It felt like the last week was a month to me. Being forced out of my old life which was the epitome of grey into this vibrant, unknown game world. Meeting Jeehan, LOD and Doki, going into the dungeon, slaying the boss. This one week had way more highlights in than my old life had in it's total... Although that wasn't that big of a deal in this world, pain both physically and mentally would still follow.
Thinking back to each day of the last week, the corners of my mouth continuing to curl. This lasted for minutes, until I came to the end of my summation, and looked to the vast forest forgetting my dull old world.
-
After about thirty minutes Jeehan was finally done recapping too, proceeding to re-spark the now dead conversation once again, "So, what do you think the others are doing right now?"
I thought about his question, and realized I didn't really have an answer. LOD was probably following Doki's call, but for Doki's...
I shook my head in frustration before giving a resigned answer, "LOD's probably following Doki, or hitting on girls. But I have no idea about Doki..."
I paused, contemplating him once more. In my view Doki was an apathetic jack-ass who had a variety of plans in his head, juggling the abilities of his comrades, others and knowing what each plan needed for them to be a success. I saw his research being him start future plans, but for which, none came to mind... Damn! I feel like I should know him better than this.
Eventually I looked back to Jeehan who seemed to be waiting for me to continue, I gave up again, asking Jeehan for his input. "I believe he's planning on what to do next, hence the research, but what for I have no idea... What about you? Any ideas?"
After a similar amount of time I pondered for, Jeehan responded "I have no idea. But I think it's going to be crazy and/ or fun. For him to grab more than the 30 books already, and for them to be history books, it seems like something big is in the works. If nothing else it'll not be a dull plan." I nodded, understanding and believing what he said.
By now we started to see the farms we had left, Simpson was about 10 minutes away.
I thought it would be fun to use this time talking about pointless things, and asked "By the way, Jeehan. If you could sum up our groups personalities by mobs, which would you use?"

I felt this was a random enough question to make Jeehan think, his answers would either be entertainingly comical, or interesting.
The curve-ball made Jeehan pause for a second, and after repeating the question he soon understood and answered after a bit more thought.
"Well, I don't know about myself, maybe a goblin? Useless by myself, but with a good group I can make my way. You would probably be a um... a bandit maybe? You have your own ethics disregarding those who you grew up with, and given no resilience would be a pain in the neck for those wanting to live a different way to yours."He put a hand over his mouth, with his eyes almost tearing. He was laughing... I decided to make his just as ludicrous.
Thinking about it, I'd actually agree with a bandit, but the reason is way off!
Still laughing, he fakes apologies then continued. "For LOD, probably a... What was it again, a 'sob-goblin'? More confident with others around him, but still strong compared to those his level alone. And for Doki, probably a 'mimic'. As long as you don't get in his way, or too close for comfort, he'll ignore your existence, otherwise he'll bite your face off without a second doubt."
"Reasonable choices... I disagree with mine though," I replied bitterly. I continued to add my own opinion to his own, "also, I was thinking a bat for LOD, since he avoids confrontation until he feels his position is good, hiding in the background until the time comes. But yeah, I'd agree with your choices for yourself and Doki, your as harmless as a goblin anyway."
The person controlling the carriage interrupted, asking for where we wanted to be dropped off. Now on the outskirts of the town, only a few farm houses and fields of crops were visible at this point. We asked to be dropped off there, asking to be picked up tomorrow at a similar time. As the carriage went off, we started the trek to Jeehan's home.
-
It was about one pm, the scorching heat getting countered by the strong winds, Jeehan and I continued on foot to the Jeehan residence, continuing our little conversation.
Jeehan started off where we had left off, asking me "So, what would you consider yourself then?"
"To be honest, I'm not sure... I probably agree with your bandit idea, it's just the reason makes me feel like a dick," I answered casually.
We walked for ten minutes or so, bringing up small snippets of conversation as we walked. Eventually we got to the familiar mansion of a house Jeehan called home, Thorborg was outside. Noticing us, she beaconed us to go to her.
She slapped Jeehan, then gave a rather deathly glare in my direction, tears forming in her eyes.
"That's for making me worried sick, I heard from Adam that you went to Skimmington. Didn't Hiiro say there was a battle going on there? I feared that you'd die or get seriously hurt..." she explained, tears now gushing down her face as a smile emerged. Considering her brother just went away without so much as a goodbye, going to a potential war-zone for the sole reason of getting an ID, her reaction didn't surprise me.
"Sorry... I forgot you weren't there when we said our fair wells." He hugged her as she cried.
I stood with relative jealousy, my family were never this close...
-
I eventually left them be, going inside to tell whoever was in that we were back. I met an Alice, who seemed to be a mixture of annoyed and grateful that we had returned. She probably managed to hear of our deeds through her clan or something.
"You guys seemed to have fun... Wait, where are the others?" Alice initially spoke in spite, but noticing I was the only one, this turned into confusion.
I took the liberty of explaining upon myself, "the carriage only had two seats, since Doki wanted to read a couple hundred books anyway, we felt like we should split to meet up later. They express their condolences. Only me and Jeehan are here, Jeehan's currently making up with Thorborg. By the way, you heard about our actions?"
"How could I not? Your actions are buzzing across the entirety of Forth Island at this point. With the fight that happened, and the idol like Doki grabbing the girl's attention, it's not hard to see why." She explained with relative annoyance. Wait, what was that about Doki?
I tilted my head in response, "What about Doki, are you sure you don't mean LOD?"
She returned an equally confused look, and replied "No, I mean the cutie in the healer robes, Doki. Have you not noticed the girls squealing around him?"
"If it's not clear enough, the answer to that's no. I'd assume such squealing was about the flirtatious LOD instead, Doki is relatively cute, but idol levels? I have my doubts," I said in explanation to my initial confusion.
At this point Jeehan and Thorborg had joined us, the latter joining in the conversation.
"Wait, they were talking about you four!?" she screeched shocked, turning around and slapping Jeehan again. "You guys did something that reckless!?"
"Okay, okay. Calm down little sis." She got up to pat her on the head, and explained to her. "It seems like they planned it out pretty well, my sources state they didn't even get hit in the fight."
Reassured, the fumes coming out of Thorborg ceased.
"So wait, does this mean Skimmington is open again?" Sparkles appeared covering her aura, "Yay, I can go to get my ID certified too."
Jeehan was surprised at the words coming out of his sisters words, bombarding her with questions. "Wait, what? You have an ID?"
With Alice proudly petting her head harder, she flinched before replying, "Yeah! I finally got over 10k with all my jobs, and brought one yesterday from Alice's guild."
Alice added, still petting her sister, "She was a very diligent, good girl. I'm proud to see her hard work finally pay off." She finally let Thorborg go, sighing in awe of her little sister. "I was about fifteen when I finally got one, to see you get yours at thirteen makes me so proud." Attempting to hug her sister she leaped towards her. She ended up missing and became a little bit depressed with tears in her eyes.
"Well congratulations. But how will you get to Skimmington to certify it?" I asked confused. She could use a carriage like we did, but I don't think there are any here. She could risk walking it, but I feel like Alice would never let her do that, so that left...
"Actually, we wanted to ask you guys to escort her." Alice got up by herself, replying before I could finish my thought.

Dream Dungeon
Welcome to the dream dungeon. Ely suddenly finds himself in a mysterious dungeon accessed only through sleeping. Many people are drawn into this dream world, confused and mystified. Those in this dungeon must kill monsters to survive; maybe even each other. Join Ely as he struggles to survive a ruthless environment. What replaces his rest is untold trauma. What seems like an innocent game trope turns into a nightmare. This is a story of tragedy and the path to ultimate power. All in the hopes of an uncertain survival. _________ This fiction has NOT been abandoned. I made a haughty promise earlier to not worry because I'll continue this series, and with things lately, I've only proved myself a liar. Further promises dwindled, and I've lost trust. So many things have been going on recently that I've been booked. I will refrain from making any future guarantees or promises as my busy schedule will stay with me for a long long while. Time for me to actually spend on writing and revising won't appear until at the least November 19. I won't say expect that's when I'll restart, but you can expect expecting it to maybe happen. That's really shallow. But with everything going on, I've let my small reading base down. I apologize. I still stick by my statement though that I won't abandon this project. I plan to stick it to the end, no matter the delay. Most importantly, thank you everyone; readers who both like and dislike my work. I appreciate your time spent on my dumb imagination. Stay toasty my readers in this winter season. Cheers. UPDATE: We're back on track. Thank you for your patience. Any future readers, heyo! Glad you're here. UPDATE 2: So far it's been 21 days since I last uploaded a chapter. The best thing done for any fiction, no matter how good it is, is that it continues, and I have a bad history with that. 1 fiction on hiatus and already more delays with less than 20 chapters in this fiction. I've been very preoccupied with adding more things to do in my life rather than actually committing to any particular thing. That applies primarily to this. I cannot abandon this, as busy as my future looks and will look as I get busier and busier. Someday, I hope, I will be able to sit down and just write. just. write. But for now, I ask for patience. I suppose I'm glad this fiction hasn't picked up so that I don't disappoint too many people if any really. But I need to commit and it's going to happen sometime and sometime soon. No more flowery words. I'll see you later. UPDATE 3: It's very evident I won't be able to pick up this story for a while. With AP Testing, competitions, and other things I am busier than ever. But I must complete this fiction. I have too. Until next time. UPDATE 4: It is now the summer. I owe everyone an apology. Chances are, nobody's around to see this, and that is okay. I only blame myself for this sort of brokenness of a fiction, not that it is actually that bad but I am just exaggerating it for dramatic effect. But what's not exaggerated is the severity of my broken promise. I apologize for my naive claims about finishing a novel that I couldn't finish and that I didn't have the discipline to finish. Nor the skills, really, I was and am still an immature writer. What is to place now? I want to make it clear I understand this is my fault. I will man up to this. And I will accept any criticism. I understand I messed up. Reading Stephen King's On Writing made it clear to me that I need to do two things:Read lots. And write lots.I have done neither. If I don't have the time to read often, how do I expect to write? I need to become more experienced. I need to become a serious writer. So if I want to dream of continuing, I need to at least fulfill both requirements. I enjoy writing. I haven't written seriously outside of school in a while. I planned to write this summer and finish this. I made a lot of promises that I didn't keep.So there's that. I won't enact any self-pity, or be foolishly obsessed. What I did was wrong, and I must deal with it. I let down readers. And I apologize.I hope I can find forgiveness. This is a writer's sin.I won't promise I'll finish this. I intend to finish this, at some point, because writing is fun and I want to write. But how things are don't reflect that. Maybe I'll finish this at some point. Maybe I won't. I won't be naive to make that promise.I thank everyone who has read this if this is the end. If not, and hopefully not, I thank everyone who is to read future chapters. I thank everyone who allowed me to live in the miniscule little dream of mine as I passed my days. I thank everyone who cares enough to read this. Until next time, peace everyone. Thank you. You are all great readers and great people. I wish everyone the best in whatever reading/writing endeavors follow you henceforth.

The Legend of Fanaura: Cursed
'Hey, need some help there?' An unfamiliar voice echoed through her mind, and she startled, losing her grip on the red phial. It rolled through the grass, away from her. "Oh shoot!" she yelped, and her focus diverted from her opponent for a split second, but it was enough to prove fatal. The beast took advantage of her distraction and lunged towards her. She tried to back away, but in her haste, she stumbled and fell. She looked at the beast, inches away from her, and shut her eyes in fear. She raised her arms to cover her head, even if she knew it was futile. Yet seconds passed, and no pain came. Then she heard the beast let out a pained yelp. She opened her eyes to the familiar sounds of battle before her. A tall man stood before her, locked in battle with the beast. He wielded a sword as long as his height, yet it didn't seem to hinder him in the slightest. She watched in awe as he swung the obviously heavy sword around as if it were light as a feather. His movements were swift and precise, and it didn't take long before the beast fell to the ground, motionless. “You alright there, miss?” The man sheathed his sword across his back, before turning to her. Her eyes widened when she heard his voice. It was the same voice who had that had spoken into her mind and the cause of her almost-fatal distraction. "You...!" she hissed.***She was the chosen one to end the war between the Goddesses when they were supposed to take care of the world balance. Refused to be the pawn of the Goddess she chooses to kill herself, thinking that it will end her obligation and suffering. But when she woke up in another body, she realized that she can't outrun her fate. Being reborn in the same world after the end of the Goddesses war in a pre-apocalyptic situation, she knew she needs to face her fate as the cursed heroine. But her path won't be easy as darkness lurks and hidden between her friends and comrades waiting to punch her in the back and ruined her journey of redemption and world saving. Would she succeed or succumbed once more?

Patchwork System
Notification (cannot be ignored): For being the first being to kill another of its own species after Sublimation, Lyam Aldren is awarded the Title of Cain’s Successor. Let all fear the Kinslayer!!! Lyam Aldren, killer for hire, was just going about his business when he suddenly received a notification from something called the System. Apparently, the entirety of Earth, its denizens and its matter were transported into the world of the System, planted in 'patches' all throughout the infinite world. The world of the Patchwork System is one of challenges, where life is cheap, power is king, and Classes and levels are a thing. In a brutal world, there is perhaps room for a killer with bloodstained hands to find his own way, free of his past. However, his Title and his inherent nature plague him, his fragmented personality laid bare to those with the eyes to see, and if he doesn't become powerful enough to defeat or escape those who would use or destroy him, he will quickly be devoured by the merciless world created by the System. Compared to my previous work, this is a more 'classic' litrpg setup, with clear (if somewhat complex) progression through levels and skill gains, with a 'system apocalypse' setup. Unlike most system apocalypse story protagonists, Lyam is neither a leader nor is he particularly interested in saving his fellow Earthlings. This is a story of a man who is both endangered and set free by the destruction of his old world, as he finds both power, new discoveries, and adventure in a place where his past matters not at all and power is the only language most speak. Later in the story, there will be harem elements, but the first volume is dedicated to Lyam's first months in the System. For those who are more interested in the Heirs of the Hooded King, I am putting it on hiatus as I rework the setting and future story developments a bit.
