《Fighter's Journey In Pokemon World》12. Deceiving Brock

Dean knew that a part of the ceiling will collapse right on poliwag and Onix so he shouted at brock while returning his poliwag.
Dean: " Brock return your Onix now" Brock who was staring at the knocked out Onix was startled by the sudden shout. He looked up after hearing his voice to see Dean's serious face so he didn't ask any question instead he returned his pokemon quickly.
Dean: "Now lets run outside it might be dangerous here" Brock had a questioning look on his face but still followed Dean running outside. Once they were outside brock opened his mouth to ask questions
Brock: "Why did yo-" he suddenly heard
*CRASH*
Brock was surprised to hear that coming from inside his gym he ran to see the situation and was shocked as soon as he entered. He could see a large piece of ceiling laying on the field where Onix was knocked out earlier but sighed a relief
Brock: ' Thank God Forrest and others were outside on a picnic otherwise he couldn't even imagine the worst. They sometimes come out to play on the battlefield after my battle so I'm lucky they choose this day for a picnic" he looked back at the Dean who was slowly coming from behind. Brock with a grateful expression.
Brock: " Thank you for calling out to me on time" Dean with smiling face nodded
Dean: "No problem Brock" he looked up to a big hole in the ceiling and had only one thought in his mind ' Do I have to pay for that?' he started to think seriously. Brock seeing this got the general idea what's going on inside dean's head so he chuckled
Brock: "You don't need to pay for that, what you did earlier was more than enough. Your pokemon are strong Dean and you commanding over such strong pokemon is a strong trainer. For defeating the pewter city gym you get a Boulder badge"
Dean: " Thank you brock" he received the badge.' Defeating the gym? more like destroying the gym' thought while looking at the rock field.
Brock: "I guess I'll have to close the gym for some time now" he sighed also looking at the battlefield.
Dean: "Let's go to the pokemon centre to heal your pokemon"
They left towards the centre while talking about all the things but he seemed interested in what dean feeds his pokemon so just told that it was professor Oak's recipe, he then asked about the professor Oak. By the time they reached the pokemon centre, Brock already had a bouquet in his hand looking like a gentleman as he walked towards Nurse joy ignoring the surrounding stares. He got on his knee gave the nurse his bouquet and started talking about her beauty comparing it to the sky and ocean, after some time he gave her his pokeballs and came to Dean with a dejected expression. He offered some words of consolation that helped him a little and thought about something with an evil smile, he quickly concealed it and said

Dean: "Its a shame though this Nurse joy might be taken soon" Brock hearing this perked his ears and glared at him" Hey Don't look at me like that it's not me"
Brock: "Who then?" he asked in a serious tone.
Dean: "Well It's just I heard somet-" Brock cut him off asked in an impatient tone "Who?" 'I guess he cares more about her than I thought he would, this might work well in my favour'
"It's Gary Oak, Professor Oak's Grandson he was boasting one day that he would make nurse joy as his cheerleader first thing after becoming a trainer," he said in a low deep voice to make it sound serious and from the looks of brock, it seemed to be working.
Brock: "But Isn't he young?" he questioned
Dean: "Do you how many cheerleaders he already has? He has a squad Brock a squad. Many of them are close to nurse joy's age. I guess you should forget about nurse Joy then" he said in a regretful expression
Brock: "No!! I will protect nurse joy" he stood up immediately shouting drawing attention from the surroundings.
Dean: "Then there is only one thing to do" Brock looked at the dean listening "You should train" Brock was about to say something. Dean just raised his hand making Brock stop.
"I know you are strong but he is the grandson of Prof.Oak and knowledgeable about pokemon, he might or might not become a good trainer who knows. But are you 100% sure you can defeat him? No right, so do not give him even a 1% chance for his victory, you should train more besides When Nurse Joy hears of his defeat then what will she think of him?" Brock nodded his head 'Well she wouldn't think of anything. I feel little guilty for using Brock like this as I kind of liked him in the show but on the plus side, he will become stronger' Dean thought and became incredibly serious at the moment and put his hand on Brock's shoulder and said "You should train to protect Nurse joy's innocence" This seemed to have done the trick as Dean could see the fire burning brighter in his eyes. Brock with a smile on his face gave a hug to Dean
Brock: "Thank you, Dean. Thank you for opening my eyes I'll close the gym for some time and train seriously" Dean added more oil to the burning fire
Dean: "He was even having thoughts about Officer jenny" Brock didn't say anything he just ran screaming something about protecting her too. He just watched the departing back of the Brock and thought 'This is your little punishment for being arrogant with me all those times, you will have to deal with a difficult first gym battle'

What Dean didn't know was that Brock took his training very seriously, his geodude would evolve to graveler and Onix would learn a powerful move. His little ploy for Gary will cause huge trouble for both Ash and Gary in their first Gym battle, Ash would challenge three times and Gary Would challenge two times before defeating him. At one point Gary would even question his talent as a pokemon trainer as he always thought his journey will be a smooth sail. Even If Dean knew all these he wouldn't care about them.
Nurse joy called Dean as he had a call from Professor Oak. He sat in front of the computer to see Professor Oak reading a book
Dean: "Hello Professor"
Professor: "Oh Hello Dean. How are you and how was your first gym battle?"
Dean: "I'm a fine professor and my battle went well" he showed him his first badge. Professor laughed
Professor: "Congratulations Young man"
Dean: "Thank you, you called me professor?"
Professor: "Yes Yes Yesterday I forgot to tell you about the pokemon egg you will receive as a gift from carl in few days" Dean was incredibly surprised.
Dean: "Really? Why?"
Professor: "Gratitude" he simply said
Dean: 'Oh right his grandson' then he asked "What sort of Egg is it? Where is the egg?" he was a bit excited
Professor: "I have no idea about which pokemon it is, Carl hasn't told me yet" Dean was a bit upset
Dean: ' Professor didn't even tell me about the egg all this time and he doesn't even know what pokemon it is' he then looked at the pink coloured cover of the book visible through his chest pocket, 'So it's like this' "Why didn't you tell me about the egg professor?" he calmly asked
Professor: "I was doing research on an interesting thing," he said only.
Dean: " You were researching huh" professor nodded at this "So you didn't busy yourself with that book and forgot to tell me ?" he eyed the book, professor seeing this
Professor: "No No " he was trying to hide the book somewhere quick "That is not mine," he said a bit hastily
Dean: "I thought you were researching that book,"
Professor: "Absolutely not, It is Gary's I confiscated it earlier to destroy it, I really need to reprimand that young man about reading such things" he shamelessly blamed on his grandson.
Dean: 'Who are you trying to fool old man? Gary isn't even 11 yet and I have seen your computer, there are some pretty interesting things hidden in the folder 'oddish research' ' he thought 'Talking about the egg will not get me anywhere so let me just end the call'
Dean: "I would love to talk with you more but I have to be someplace so bye for now professor. I'll be in contact with you"
Professor: "Goodbye Dean". Dean cut the call and just went to his room.
He called all his pokemon and showed them his badge. They were happy, he cheered poliwag for doing a good job in the battle and began to calm his grass pokemon as tangela was upset for not getting to battle but easily got over it as soon as dean offered few berries.
Next morning when he was on a jog, he saw someone moving suspiciously in the alley. He became curious so he started to trail him in stealth. This person after taking some turns came to stop in front of an old warehouse, he looked at his surroundings and removed his attire, dean could see he was a member of the team rocket. He met with other member and they started to talk in a low voice. Dean can't hear them but he also couldn't get too close to them without them finding out. They talked for a few minutes and entered the warehouse. He looked around and saw an opening on the roof of the warehouse, he climbed using rusted pipes and finally looked inside the warehouse to see a giant box. There were only two people but now one of them was even leaving the warehouse, Dean eyed that person leave the warehouse, he watched till he couldn't see his back. He took his rock climbing rope and slowly went inside the warehouse. He hid in a dark corner staring at the box
'Why am I involving in these sort of shady shits?' he sighed 'I just wanted to go to the cerulean city' he cracked his knuckles while looking at the person sitting leisurely on a chair in the middle of the warehouse 'This better be good otherwise I've wasted my precious time'
